    Hi All
    Welcome back to the channel and the 2nd in a series of Farkling Videos on my New BMW K1600GT SE.
    Today we're fitting the Wunderlich Oil Cooler Guard, supplied to me in the UK by Nippy Norman.
    If you're in a country they can supply (each page tells you at the bottom), then here's the link to the product on their site.
    If you're outside a zone where Nippy Norman can supply, here's the link to the Wunderlich Site in Germany
    Any comments welcome

    Hi Nick, think it makes sense to protect your oil cooler, but I think rather than that tape a 4 x 1mm black rubber U channel capping would have made a neater job. Thanks' for the video..

      I agree Stephen. I will address that as I don’t really like it but until then it’ll not mark the bike 👍🏻

    Hey Nick hope all is well over pond? I still refer to your GS video my GS and will continue to do so in the future....but, I went with the Honda Goldwing for 2up riding (everyone has there choice) I'll pop in ever so often to catch up on what your up to.
    Thanks for GREAT videos. I'm sure the K bike owners will to love your video and very detailed instructional videos on how to farkle them.
    Thanks, Glenn.

    Hi Nick,
    Nice to see you have joined the K club😉 just had to mention that when looking for the same came across a lot on ebay around 50 to 70 pounds, and then found on amazon the same one also unmarked for just over 20 pounds. Looking at your vid just did not get the colour instructions, just took little longer to figure out😆 it seems i have noticed over past couple years more Chinese manufacturers who supply the more well known suppliers are selling the same items just unmarked for a lot less. WIth Amazon you can send it back easily if it is rubbish.😎🖖

      Hi Baz. Enjoying the K16. I agree that there are cheaper and Amazon is a good safety net. I did once order rad guards from eBay for the GS but they just didn’t fit!! 🤣

    Interested to see where you mount the Innov front camera. I have my front camera (not Innov) mounted on the plastic piece directly in front of the oil cooler so while I have the guard I have yet to fit it as unsure where to place the camera.

      Hi Neil. I have made a bracket, yet to be sprayed black from 3mm aluminium that comes off the left (as you saw in video) guard mount. Seems perfect with no obscured view. Rear is on o/s top of rear number plate. Pannier miss by 5mm 👍🏻

    How are you managing with;
    1) the relative cramped leg room on touring vs GSA, and
    2) how do you like the new TFT, specifically, the GPS and connectivity
    … I’m having a hard time overcoming m concerns with these issues in doing an “upgrade” as you have, being 61 years old myself

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před rokem

      The riding position is different and I’ve had short (very) periods of cramp but I take statins and I’ve had leg cramps since so not totally bike related either. So far the navigation has been near 100% which is a marked change from the GSs’. I’m so impressed a video is likely incoming 👍🏻

    Another nice video Nick question do you miss the GSA or has the K1600GT filled the gap well .

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před rokem +2

      Hi Andy. It’s very different for sure. I preferred the K16 on a recent trip to France over the GS last year. I had a pillion this year and although no toll roads she really was smooth and comfortable. I miss the GS when there’s a very narrow road with grass in the middle and when car parks and stuff are gravel. It’s strange to say that about a heavy GSA and I’m no off-road rider but it feels a combination of being a little better at a small change of direction and it doing less damage on gravel if I dropped her. Still miss the GSA for sure. Think I always will but for what I generally do and certainly have planned (Nordkapp) the K16 is wonderful. Long answer and I could probably talk myself in and out over an hour. Both lovely bikes. Oh to have £40k 🤣👍🏻

    I bought one of these same model year as yours Nick and the LH bracket I have (as you look from the front) doesn’t sit tight back and flush as the other, did you notice any similar? BTW -what did you do with the sticky bits?😂

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před rokem

      I haven’t had trouble with the bracket although it is close to being possible to get them mixed up and them still fit. The rubber bits I’ve wrapped across the bottom and sides as the guard sits on the plastic of the beak piece and with vibration would mark it I’m sure 👍🏻

  • @SouthWest-jj8yu
    @SouthWest-jj8yu Před rokem +1

    I think the guard looks better but I’m not so sure about the tape. I appreciate the reason but think I’d look for a different solution, I worry it may look worse in time as it weathers and peels, realise this is just a personal opinion but it seems to detract from the clean lines the guard would provide.

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před rokem

      I agree. I’m going to trim it back so it just sits underneath. Most of all I don’t want to mark the bike 👍🏻

    • @wattsnb
      @wattsnb Před rokem +1

      @@nickhodgeUK You could also just fit a strip of black insulating tape to the original plastic trim beneath the edge of the guard and should be enough to prevent damage to the trim piece.

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před rokem +1

    Did you find out what the bits of tape were for?

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před rokem +1

      Yep. I wrapped them on edges to stop vibration (noise) and chafing against plastic. Concentrated on bottom edges 👍🏻
