  • Welcome back everyone
    Many of the Farkling videos recently have been items kindly supplied to me by Nippy Normans. The leading BMW aftermarket accessory supplier in the UK. What is starting to happen now is knowing whether accessories that fitted the 2018 (or earlier) models, also fit the 2022 K1600.
    This video is seeing in the Denali Auxiliary Light Bracket fits.
    The main issue here is in the actual fitting, which unlike earlier models requires the TFT screen to be removed. Watch the video to see if we manage it and the brackets fit.
    Link to the Denali Brackets for 2022 on models on the Nippy Norman site is below:

    ...and for the 2018 -2021 models, the link is below:

    Hope you enjoy this video

    Hi Nick - working my way through your videos which are really helpful. I just had Tom at 'abikething' fit the new denali D7 Pro's and a lower set of D3's to my new 1250 RT. The D7's are awesome! The only thing I'm not sure about is programming the ezcan - Tom did that and I really didn't pay too much attention. Hopefully I won't need to adjust anything. - Gary

      Hi Gary, you shouldn’t but it’s pretty straight forward. Download the EzyCan software onto a laptop and connect that to the little usb port on the EzyCan with bike on and you’ll see all the options. But I suspect you have the best options

      Thanks Nick. I did have an issue when I realised all the lights were not working. I failed to listen to Tom at abikething when he said the indicator button acts to turn the lights on/off. Somehow I turned them all off! I’m thinking of adding a chigee so I can use different nav apps but I can’t find a mount that would place it above the TFT screen. Are you aware of anything?? Thanks

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před 3 měsíci

      @garyogden5873 I’m not aware of anything for the RT or K16 (same bars and TFT). On my K16 I love the built-in nav. It’s nearly perfect (nearly!). I have a stub out of the handlebar with a Quadlock on so I can mount a spare phone for either alternative nav (rare) or quick access to photos 🤣👍🏻

      Hi David. We had a really good time. She’s not a regular tourer. Most of my distant, stay-away trips are solo and she’s more of a day-tripper. She found it very comfortable and it purrformed (deliberately spelt wrong) beautifully. A couple of the days were 300 mile + and we did no Toll Roads. I was happy it was lower as it is a big boat with pillion. That’s not an issue until you take a wrong turn in a village or turn up at an overnight stop with a gravel drive!!! That would be tricky 2-up on the GSA and the floor would be further away!! All in all we both enjoyed it. I’m off to the Artic Circle in June for 30 days and 5,000+ miles in her but that’ll be solo. Watch this space 👍🏻

    Hey Nick, It’s been a while since you posted. As I too have switched over from the GSA to K1600 GTL, I’m looking forward to some insights on both farkling and touring… last winter installed THINKWARE BLACK-M1G dashcam system. Although this could well be redundant fir you, some viewers might be interested in such upgrades.

      No Rainer. I’m still around and enjoying the K16. Love putting stuff on the channel for everyone, just hate editing!! I’m off Monday on the bike for the whole of June with my buddy on a 1250RT. We leave the UK. Taking the ferry to Holland, up through Germany to Denmark. On to Sweden and Norway. Up the west coast to the top way in the Artic Circle (Nordkapp). Back down Finland. Crossing to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany (again), Belgium, France and home. 6,500 miles (10,000km). New tyres fitted and serviced yesterday (2,000 miles early damn it) so watch this space. Enjoy the 16 and ride safe 👍🏻

    Great video! Good job.Have you removed the forward lower panels or the top gas tank panels? I'm curious if those panels are the same as the earlier year models; e.g. 2012-2016?

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před rokem

      I have had the panels off but couldn’t answer whether they’re the same or not. The lower one I think is similar with that weird plastic pin and the bolt under the winglet but the upper fuel tank panel may be different as the aerial is in there 👍🏻

    Will you be showing the Fitting of the cameras that I have noticed on the front of the K 1600 ?

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před rokem +1

      mmmmm, I may. I would say watch out for the Denali Lights (and/or Cansmart) fitting video that *may* come along later as it will all be connected to that. In the meantime the front camera is mounted using a custom bracket off the oil cooler guard (accessory) bracket and the rear camera off the number plate. The wire from the front makes its way down the LH fairing (as sat on bike) and emerges with the rear one under the seat. That's where the DVR unit is too. The GPS transponder is stuck to the inside of the LH fairing and the remote is velcro'd to the LH handlebar 'mirror blank'. There is soooooo much room under the seat on the K1600 for all this. I even have all my tools under there too. The switch wire is what I want the Cansmart for too as I'll use the accessory circuit for that. The battery too is very easy to connect to.... anyhow, watch this space

      @@nickhodgeUK Thank you for your reply. Do you by any chance have the name of the ebay merchant you purchased it from? All the navigation mounts I found on ebay sellers (and everywhere else) are made to fit RT 1250 or the 1600 GT / GTL for the BMW model years 2016 thru 2020. Or the one you purchased for the older models happened to fit your newer 2022-23 model GT handlebar? Thank you.

    Nice video. Once you remove the screws attaching the speaker grill, how exactly do you pull it off from the bike? You mentioned there are a couple of clips holding the grill. Do you pull it up, to the side, down? Do you pull it directly away from the fairing, toward you? Some BMW body parts slide into position. I'd hate to break an expensive bit of plastic by removing the grills incorrectly.

    • @nickhodgeUK

      Hi Bob. Once the screws are out it should ‘pop’ off. There’s metal spring clips from memory 👍🏻

    Hi Nick, as usual a very informative video, thank you. May I ask a question, I currently have a low chassis 1250 GSA, I'm really tempted to get a K1600, how easy is it to manoeuvre such a mammoth motorcycle compared to the GSA. I know it has the reverse crawler gear, but in general how are you managing the weight difference. I'm a very fit 65-year-old, just to let you know. Thank you.

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před rokem +1

      Stephen. It's heavy for sure and needs a little more care but feet are normally much more planted that the GS/A although I've not needed a lowered one. The reverse I use all the time, but a lot of that is laziness. I now just pull into spaces without thinking I should really reverse in so to go forward out, as you would with a bike without reverse. I do find I use full lock quite a bit manoeuvring, both forwards and back as the lock of the handlebars feels more secure than leaving play with only half-lock, that would need to be 'taken up' should the bike start to topple. I'm getting used to the extra weight though. I'm pretty strong upper body but have spindly legs if that encourages?

      @@nickhodgeUK Thank you so much for your reply, and yes, it's helping me with my decision making. Previously I had a full height 1250 GSA, I could almost flat foot it, but then after I sat on the lowered one it gave me so much more confidence with being able to flat foot it

    Merry Christmas Nick, just a query regarding bike covers which you may know about, have you found one brand better than another and have you found one which will cover the bike when fully laden with hard panniers and top box. I’m guessing you had than sort of thing when you had the GSA for touring? Thanks Jay

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před rokem

      Hi Jay and happy Christmas to you too. I use the Oxford Aquatex largest unit. It covers Borge the GSA fully loaded and the K1600. I would say it’s not a cover for everyday outdoor use (there are others in the Oxford range that do that), I store my bike indoors and then put the cover over to stop dust and condensation for the metal store. Also it screws up to near nothing so I always take it on tour. 1) for weather protection 2) to shield it from prying eyes. It randomly fits both bike perfectly

    hi, I would like to ask you about the bike: I have a BMW K 1600 GT like yours and I have a problem with adjusting the height of the headlights because they dazzle cars at night. Since you tried to disassemble some parts of the bike, I wanted to ask you if you noticed the presence of a screw to adjust the height of the headlights and therefore be able to lower them so as not to dazzle other vehicles anymore. I know that on the previous model it was possible to adjust them on this one I can't find anything on the net, can you tell me something to help me solve the problem? Thank you

    • @nickhodgeUK
      @nickhodgeUK  Před rokem +2

      I’m sorry I didn’t see any adjusters when removing what I did. I also suspect it’s a little more complex on the 22 model as it has the ‘steering’ headlight that adjusts the beam depending on lean angle, etc so it would be sensors doing that. I suggest if you think it’s badly adjusted you take it back to the dealer as it is still well in warranty 👍🏻
