Believe me Hoovie, I am very experienced with m113. 99 percent of oil consumption in m113 is bad PCV. The final result is unfortunately what happened to you and the very next will be blown head gasket. The PCV stops working correctly as oil is being sent to cylinders, pressure in crankcase increases and carbon buildup causes LSPI damaging the coating. I did rebuild using iron cylinder sleeves. You can also consider darton wet sleeves that will make it literally indestructible. I tried transplant with N/A m113 engine block unfortunately doesn’t work. Coating on this engine is considered really decent, however carbon buildup and old fuel can destroy it pretty easily. Don’t do thicker oil. The only one that works in this m113k is 0w40, for racing use and SLR 5w50 is advised (however you may paradoxically experience higher oil consumption - more pressure in crank and oil drains slower from a pcv drainer).
How would you describe this channel to a friend? A show about dropping cars off at the shop and driving the fixed ones back? I've been watching since the Apollo project 😂
Love these videos, been a follower of Hoovie for awhile, now unless its for pure content, never understood why he wouldn’t have the car Wizard check out the car BEFORE he bought them…even if he had to fly him somewhere it would save the headaches of something like this - unless of course, the surprise of polishing a turd is the magic sauce here
on the m113ks there is a nasty o-ring that goes out on the oil pump, with cylinder scoring it's almost certain this is the culprit. make sure it's not that, it's a quite simple fix and most people overlook it on the engine rebuild, it can also cause some weird oil loss issues because of the way it's mounted in the 2-piece oil pan.
@@Chthonian121i have a m113 5.4L myself & i never heard of cylinder wall scoring but i have seen a forum where a person had scored cylinders & someone said that it could be a hot spot in the engine & thats what causes the “silicone aluminum” coating to wear out along the wall leading to scoring.. i believe that it is human error. it is overlooked when removing spark plugs, intake manifold, or s/c to blow compressed air into the crevasses of the object Youre removing to reduce the amount of debris introduced into the combustion chamber..
@@AMGmeisterah shit the man himself, yes you are correct from what I understand and have experienced, the m113/k only has cylinder scoring issues when either the oil pickup tube o-ring has failed or in extreme cases where mileage is very high and the ccv system gets clogged from terrible oil change intervals and usually it's compounded by intense high g driving, any exceptions?

I knew a guy who bored out a Porsche Boxster nikaseal (sp) engine and fitted cast-iron rings. That vehicle is still running 15 years later. It'd been through a sewerage flood in Hong Kong.
In Germany some experts see the issue with the M113Ks is with broken catalytic converters. The converters break down and crumble into dust. The dust can then be sucked in through the exhaust valves causing this type of damage. M113s don’t have an Alusil cylinder surface.
In the past my '68 Buick Gran Sport 350 started consuming an excessive amount of motor oil after I replaced the oil pump gears after the oil pump went out. I couldn't see any oil smoke of of the exhaust but at night while driving with another car behind me,their headlights illuminated a fine cloud of oil smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe.
Hi Tyler! I had the same issue with the highlight on my BMW. What I did was I bought a headlight refurbished kit and it took it away and make it look like new again
No one ever trades a car because it's run well. Keep repeating that until you get it. OF COURSE THEY SOLD IT BECAUSE IT WAS USING OIL.... thanks, Hoovie, for going bankrupt and fixing it for us.

Oil guzzling is such a tricky issue... unless it's smoking blue at a cold start like crazy, it's not really an obvious thing, and you can't really check it as a buyer. I fell into a similar trap with my Lancer, eats around the same oil on highways like this G55, a bit less on just normal roads and city. But it's a known issue on 4G18 engines, and just needs new piston rings and maybe valve seals. That ain't cheap though...

Hoovie, your excitement, knowledge and just plain car enthusiasm is so great to see!
Hoovie your hair is always on point! Shout out your barber!
How would you describe this channel to a friend? A show about dropping cars off at the shop and driving the fixed ones back? I've been watching since the Apollo project 😂
Hoovie always says that his best videos are his worst purchases. Good luck with this one.
I truly do wish you all the best in your future endeavors Tyler.
Hello there👋👋,how are you today?hope you’re doing well?my God will bless you abundantly Amen!😊 🙏
Hoovie... All of your mechanics are so cool and down to earth. I hope you at least got the Ninja and his crew lunch that day 😊
Jonny is the man, David is the jokester (I was hoping you would grab it), and poor Hoovie got beat up like the cylinder walls on his G55. That sucks
Jonny Ninja...a gentleman and a scholar. How decent was that!
The car ninja what a gr8t honest responsible person he is.
Kudos on the gains, Tyler.
The Car Ninja is the BEST. He is so fantastic. 👍👍👍👍Always happy and smiling, and he knows what good customer service is. 👍👍👍👍
Waw. That Ferrari engine cold start sounds so sweet. 😍 Music to my ears.
I'm not sure the G wagon has the 2 pickup oil pan like the E55 did.
That's only SL55 and E55 - G55, S55, and CL55 don't have split oil pan.
@@Chthonian121 in this case the car is from chicago so whoever owned it didnt wait long enough for it to warm up in that type of climate
@@AMGmeisterah shit the man himself, yes you are correct
from what I understand and have experienced, the m113/k only has cylinder scoring issues when either the oil pickup tube o-ring has failed or in extreme cases where mileage is very high and the ccv system gets clogged from terrible oil change intervals and usually it's compounded by intense high g driving, any exceptions?
Who's better than the Car Ninja? Such a decent fella. Tyler helped garner Jonny some YT attention and therefore gets a freebie once in a while. That's how a reciprocal friendship stays healthy.
Id start bringing all cars to the car ninja. The way he treats you and JR Go is immaculate
Johnny is such a cool dude. Wish there were more mechanics like him. I guess he can be honest though since he works on money pits
What a emotionally gripping vlog dang. The three brothers in one epic vlog. A wild story. Tyler gets scammed 10:32 that sigh of sadness. And heartbroken. The jokes. And ninja did everything for free for his bro. I cried at that what a wonderful ending
Car ninja is such a G. Car wizard is also so good to. Wish i had good honest mechanics in my area.
I have yet to drive a 12. The anticipation started a few years ago and after watching this makes the desire even stronger.
I knew a guy who bored out a Porsche Boxster nikaseal (sp) engine and fitted cast-iron rings. That vehicle is still running 15 years later. It'd been through a sewerage flood in Hong Kong.
I know the newer M278 V8 motors are prone to cylinder scoring but never knew the M113k had the same issue.
it's really amazing how talented hoovie is at making gopro footage look like my sony ericsson slide phone from 2008
Wow BIG Hoovie, the same thing happened to me. I bought an '11 G55 off Marketplace, it kept consuming more and more oil until it locked up one night 😅
In Germany some experts see the issue with the M113Ks is with broken catalytic converters. The converters break down and crumble into dust. The dust can then be sucked in through the exhaust valves causing this type of damage. M113s don’t have an Alusil cylinder surface.
of all the cars you have or have had, the BMW Z8 is my favorite and I'm damned jealous.
Yes… Johnny is a great business man!
20:08 idk why but you calling him wizzy made me crack up
In the past my '68 Buick Gran Sport 350 started consuming an excessive amount of motor oil after I replaced the oil pump gears after the oil pump went out. I couldn't see any oil smoke of of the exhaust but at night while driving with another car behind me,their headlights illuminated a fine cloud of oil smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe.
Like every car you pull out just beautiful and falling apart waiting for you to fix them
Lol
Tyler does this as a business and is doing quite well financially.
Depends on the car. I scored a mint, low mileage Lincoln Towncar for dirt cheap because the old guy quit driving and none of his kids wanted it.
Good video. Saw your G Wagon as I went for my morning walk today at Stearman Field.
Keep up the good

I love the side profile of the 599.
Johnny is best ! No charge ! Like wow !! U can’t find a better tech or business man like him ..
I have not read the other comments yet, but in an 1997 Audi A8, there was an electronic trunk latch/release that was disconnected for years until it was plugged back in.
For your Z8's headlight, use acetone vapor; that will soften the plastic enough for the scratch to close.
Alex from Legit Street Cars can help you with a Whipple and upgraded engine for the AMG G. A VRP Whipple, headers, fuel system, polished heads, cams, and rotating assembly for a really fun G.
I see a title - I GOT SCAMMED... It's Hoovie by the sound of that? OF course it is. Hoovies catch cry that he got scammed, as always. Our resident recidivist sucker for automobile conundrums is at it as always. Hello Hoover 🗽. Nice to see you haven't lost your touch.
Mercedes Benz told my sister to buy a Toyota if she wanted a reliable truck.
The Car Ninja is super! But when you kept banging that trunk lid I was cringing each time. That was more harsh than I would treat a Camry.
You are lucky to have the Wizard and the Ninja on your "team", Tylor. We are lucky to experience them on your channel :)
The Ninja is such a great dude.
Hoovie, I give you major confidence props to leaning on your Ferrari in jeans. Amazing. Other than landing a man on the moon, I’ve never seen anything so impressive. 😂
Tyler is naive and somewhat silly, but Johnny is a legend ! Still, I do love them both !
