  • This range-topping 2022 Lexus NX 450h+ Plug in hybrid ushers in a new era of power and efficiency for Lexus. Let's drive it to see just how good it is.
    More Info:
The Next Chapter for Lexus is centered around four pillars: Design, Lexus Driving Signature,
Electrification and Advanced Technology. The all-new NX plays a key role in leading the brand forward on all of
    these dimensions.
The NX has been redesigned from the inside out. Every exterior surface has been reimagined. The
signature spindle grille has been refined in the front. And, perhaps the most notable expression of future Lexus
design is the elegant new block LEXUS rear badging and full-width tail lamp.
Lexus Driving Signature results from an entirely new approach to vehicle development. This ensures a
uniquely Lexus experience where each vehicle exhibits a direct, linear driving feel that is consistent across the
    lineup.
First Lexus Plug-In: Performance and Range
The NX 450h+ has an EPA-estimated 36-mile range on electric power only, made possible by the newly
developed, high-capacity lithium-ion battery. The system achieves the EV output equivalent to a 2.0-liter engine for
an EPA-estimated combined 84 MPGe. When combined with the newly developed hybrid transaxle, a 2.5-liter
    2022 Lexus NX News Release
    3 of 6
inline 4-cylinder engine delivers on the performance luxury guests are seeking with an estimated 6.0 second 0-60
    time.
A high-output, high-efficiency system designed to reduce power loss when converting from AC power to
DC power results in faster charging times. Using the maximum charging current of 240V, the Lexus NX plug-in
hybrid electric can be fully charged in approximately two-and-a-half hours when equipped with the optional 6.6 kW
Expedited Onboard Charger. With the standard 3.3 kW on board charger, charge time goes up slightly to
    approximately four-and-a-half hours.
The NX employs an electronically controlled AWD system for a confident, sporty driving experience.
Optimizing front and rear torque distribution according to the driving conditions, the driver can control the vehicle
as intended. In turns, the NX AWD supplies exhilarating yet elegant control for normal to aggressive driving styles.

In our testing, we beat the Lexus-estimated acceleration to 60 mph by a full half-second, hitting 60 in 5.5 seconds versus the quoted 6.0-second time. That's quicker than the other 2022 NX models we've tested, but a 2021 XC60 Recharge reaches 60 in a MotorTrend-tested 5.0 seconds. We haven't yet tested a Q5 plug-in, but Audi estimates its model to be just as quick as the Volvo. In case you wonder, the lighter-weight RAV4 Prime matches the NX450h+'s 5.5-second time to 60.
This means the NX plug-in hybrid is both the quickest NX money can buy and the slowest SUV in its tiny segment.

Even with the federal tax credit of $7500 + CA's credit of $1500, even at $46k for the 450h+ is a really hard sell for me. Sure the 37 mile electric range is great for my commute to work, but needing to pay extra for a 6.6kw charger is already insane. I would consider it a MAYBE if they threw in the 6.6kw charger as standard for the 450h+.

I'm kinda confused about some of their decisions with this car. It doesn't compare well with the RDX on some levels and the powerplant is the same as prime RAV4. It literally weighs about a thousand pounds more than other nx versions.
Plus they charge you the difference in your tax rebate so your rebate essentially goes to toyolex.

But now the tables have turned on the infotainment, the genesis has a touch screen that's too far to reach so you would have to use the dial plus touch pad and on the lexus it's a big touch screen that's closer to the driver and the voice assistant.
Edit- they changed the dial to rotary knob on the gv70 and will change it in other models as well probably cause dials are very frustrating to use.

Just don't expect the agility of a Genesis GV70 or Alfa Romeo Stelvio. On our figure-eight course-a MotorTrend test that evaluates acceleration, braking, handling, and the transitions in between-the NX450h+'s performance doesn't reflect the way it feels in the real world. The plug-in finished the test in 28.4 seconds at 0.57 g (average), well behind the quicker Volvo's 26.3 seconds at 0.69 g but also behind the RAV4 Prime (27.0 seconds at 0.65 g) and the NX350h. That NX hybrid variant is nearly 400 pounds lighter than the NX450h+ and finishes the figure-eight course quicker, at 28.0 seconds at 0.59 g.

"...This new take on the NX is arguably the best compact SUV Lexus has ever built, but unless you're tied to the Lexus badge, there are better options in its segment. Sure, it's the only non-plug-in hybrid in the class (ignoring mild hybrids, that is), but if you really want to reduce your environmental impact, either buy an EV or go for a more impressive non-hybrid SUV and eat a little less beef.Despite its off-road prowess, we found the NX350h's overall ride and handling somewhat less impressive. Dynamically, the NX defaults to understeer (as most similar crossovers do and probably should) with reasonable grip, but it doesn't deliver the type of engaging driving experience the Jaguar F-Paces and Genesis GV70s of the segment do. From an overall ride quality perspective, the NX350h's suspension will easily reach its bumpstops through larger bumps and struggles to settle down over stretches of uneven pavement. The cabin is proper luxury-SUV quiet, but the rest of the experience fails to live up to that standard...." Motor Trend
