  • In today's video, thanks to the good people at ‪@lexusuk‬ I am trying the all new NX. I have not sampled the previous generation, but it was one of their biggest selling products and their number one best seller here in Britain - so it's key that they get it right.
    I've recently driven the DS7, a car that is also trying to appeal to the quirky enthusiast who needs an all-round capable daily driver - but can the NX stand out from a very crowded market?

In fact, you answered Qs I didn’t know I had; e.g. panoramic sunroof. Wasn’t going to spec it but will now. Btw, totally agree with oddity that Takumi doesn’t get adaptive suspension. FSport with Takumi pack here we come. Again, thanks.

      @@papa_pt All I'm saying is that if this new NX is any indication, this new generation of Lexus products will have plenty to look forward to as far as their core models are concerned. TNGA in its many iterations is a very competent global architecture, and it's clear that between this and the current RAV-4 Prime, there's plenty more refinement to be had which could warrant stepping up to an NX.

    The reason Toyota has been slow to move into EVs and even PHEVs is because their hybrid range actually works really well to keep their fleet CO2 emissions under the legal limits. Other manufacturers had to hit the deep end with EVs in order to get the credits needed to stay under fleet CO2 limits.

    I bought a 2015 GS450H a couple of months ago, and it's just amazing. Easily the best car I've ever had and a bit special too, as it's not the 100th E-Class or the 200th 5-Series someone sees in a day. Best part for me is the Lexus interiors, so comfy, so good looking (especially the stitching), and as Jay says not a single creak, even on mine with 75.000km. I've never been into SUVs, but it's good to see that they have now also set the next step towards a plug-in hybrid. A few more years and I can switch right over from my gas guzzler into an electric.

    So good that the mid-size Lexus SUV can now be bought without apologies (online reviews used to mention bad ride/lack of quality feel despite selling well). I have an RX400h and it's simply a phenomenal vehicle across the board. The NX450+ is the vehicle I would buy now. Thorough review that will appeal to many - especially considering the rarified air that you could permanently dwell in, if you saw fit. Actually, forget all that - they had me at the phone charging/storing solution.

    I own the 2022 450h+ F sport..In Atomic Silver Glows in the Sun Light with Lil" grey metal flake" and same Circut Red interior.. but with Electric battery...Has 306 Horse power 0 to 60 in 5.6 sec (Via Road and track at drag strip!.) This model DOES- NOT have a TURBO...But rather, a Naturally aspirated / Carb...........(important because it is well known that TURBOS stress engines)...simplysaid: see euro cars shop time!....this car combines the Elec Batt and engine to achieve *89 miles per Gallon in Hybred mode with HIGH torq, And VERY quick out of the hole...Jus' blew the doors off a 735i beemer...albeit for only a block ...( I am no dummy a V* will eventually pass many cars in the long dist. (in all fairness)......However, who cares the thrill is initial take off and tickets are for high speed & SPEED...Kill's! My car has Red Calipers against Powder coated Gloss spoke Black mags and All red "F" Sport Badges........
    FAR better built than euro's (mine built in Japan) sadly, new releases are now being made in Canada! Like USA Union shops...no one gets fired for a hang over and bad work??? maybe)..... However, Lexus is Far more reliable...Far better Re-Sale that Euro beemers or mercedes.......indeed mine has Gone UP in price...Not many cars you can find Like that!... IF YOU CAN FIND ONE ANYWHERE do grab it!......"econ 101".....Has (3) elec. motors gett'n 0 to 60 in 5.6 sec (road and track) HIGH torque QUICK out of Hole!......Never do I use gas..... gett'n 42 miles per 120 Volt charge and NEVER USE GAS....and almost Silent operation in elec....So do your research......as this is Far better than any European beemer or mercedes that are depreciating the moment you drive off the lot BIG TIME! And are un- reliable offering to say nothing of the GAS HOG unproven G 70, & RDX not worth mentioning. Z Best of the BEST F Sport 450h+ !

    A Toyota 1.8/2.0 ltr 4 cylinder normal aspirated engine with a 6 speed manual would be so nice if still available.

    In Australia we get the nx350 2.4 turbocharged with a 8 speed convential gearbox. It has 205kw. Hybrids an full plug inside are too expensive here. Too much distance to cover an no where to charge them in the regional areas. There is a you tuber here (auto expert ) John cadogan. He said the Toyota corolla hybrid, would have to be driven 82 000klms to break even on the cost difference on the petrol you saved.

      @ldorman Před 2 lety +1

      Most people don't buy cars like that, they lease them for 3 to 4 years.
      So they only care about the monthly payments and the running cost during that time.
      Since I'm working from home I do only 16.000 km/yr and before I did twice as much as was commuting everyday (+100km/day).
      I always buy cheap Diesels and run them into the ground - I never got the people chasing the newest and best cars, because this new cars are usually the once I drive past when the broken down at the roadside.

      That's 50.000 mls - considering the average household in the UK does around 10.000mls / year - this would be 5 years driving.
      Looking at it from that way, the most people I know get every 3 year a new car on finance/leasing.
      Probably now because of Brexit and the chip shortage this will change, but generally here in the UK the people have a 'throw-away' mentality.
      You getting odd views if you mention you drive a 5 year old car - never understood that, coming from Austria were cars usually 10 to 15 years owned in a family....

    • @TsLeng
      @TsLeng Před 2 lety +1

      @@ldorman but that's the thing. If someone leases, they will be looking at fuel costs. Oftentimes you can lease a more expensive rrp car for same or less than a less expensive rrp car especially if residuals are estimated to be better .
      I wouldn't worry about throwaway cars, they will go to a second owner like myself. We need those people leasing to keep supply of used vehicle strong . It makes sense to buy a 2-3 year old car at around 50% off new retail price at least to me. Can't be bothered what others think lol

    I do appreciate your reviews of the "mythical" Lexus products. That is to say, the crazy ones (LFA, LC 500), the historical one (the first LS generations), or he misunderstood ones (GSF, SC 430). So, it is peculiar to see you complement so profusely an SUV. You could have showered you constructive enthusiasm over an IS 450h+, except Lexus has decided to become an almost exclusive SUV brand in Europe. Irony of history, in the USofA, where the SUV plague took off, you still can get an IS. Not for long, admittedly, as this valiant competitor to the Teutonic hegemony in the "sports saloon" segment will probably be made redundant there too. But for now, you can even get a crazy IS 500 in North America, which is the closest you will be able to be nowadays to the mythical ISF. But in Europe ? No, Sir. You still have the LS (that nobody buys except the Japanese ambassadors) and the uselessly massive ES (that only a gerontologist would buy). So, if one day, you get your hand on an IS500 import, or even a good old ISF, hell, even the baroque IS 300 SportCross, please enchant our sad SUV filled lives with a review !
    p.s. : comparing the build quality of a DS to a Lexus. Well, if this isn't delightful English humour at it's most absurd, you can fetch me two pencils and a pair of underpants. The only use of the Déesse is to block Polestar from entering the French car market...

    Just talking from experience and coming from 20+yrs of German soup. Some fabulous cars in those years. A lot of money blown and miles of fun and thrills. Now no longer viable on today's roads. Lexus nailed Merc and BMW owners with quality throughout, tactile feedback, class leading comfort and ownership, BS free experience. They're made in Japan, and the Japanese have to drive mostly in heavy traffic (much better organised in Tokyo than any other city in the world IMHO). Their cars reflect that. Even the base FWD version of the previous version you won't feel short changed.
