    Hey there! American subscriber here. I watched this because I was interested to see what you thought of it. My family have been driving variations of these for years. We had GMC Yukon Denalis (x2), Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalades (X2), and two Chevy Avalanches. These vehicles between myself and my wife were owned in the last 18 years. We have 4 kids and 3 large dogs and they have been staples for running this family and house. These vehicles are respected workhorses among the the working middle class. The more well off buy them fully loaded as status symbols and rarely use their more useful transport and off road features. I did a lot of hunting when I was younger and the suburban or variant of one was the vehicle to have. If my neighbor got one I would applaud them for a good choice. Most last with good maintenance well over 100k miles. Full Disclosure: My wife presently drives a Caddy Escalade and I traded my 2013 Avalanche with over 100K miles on it in, in June of 22 for an VW ID4. I couldn't pass up the deal and the ID4 is a much better daily commuter. At that time there was a supply chain shortage and used vehicles especially pickups were VERY hard finds. I got a huge price for the avalanche and a bunch of federal incentive money off the VW. I now pay $40-50 dollars a month in electricity to run it as opposed to $300-350 for gas for the Avalanche. However I can charge for free at work. Now that I'm an EV guy, I have my eye set on the new Chevy Silverado EV coming soon. Its back end is designed like my beloved Avalanches and gets a solid 440 miles in range proven by the Jerryrigeverything channel . Thanks for the video!

    First of all, no one in America “rocks up,” least of all in a Suburban. Moms toodle up loaded with diapered kids flinging errant Cheerios cereal about inside. You’re more likely to encounter a “Karen” stalking the view of your rear window or mirror than you ever would a “Freddy” or a “Jason.”

    I always say that if I had to choose ONE car for the rest of my life, it would be a 90s era Suburban LTZ with 4WD. That car WILL last you a lifetime and outlive you! Every car is designed for a purpose. The purpose of a Suburban (and the rest of the vehicles in the class including Ford Expedition & Excursion, and the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer family) are made to fit the term "Family haulers" which not only clearly indicates the purpose of it, but may also include the utility of carrying large amounts of *anything* AND towing. You see, you have to understand that Americans need the utility of towing boats, motor homes, horse carriages, ski jets (and other "toys"), campers. Also, the biggest usage of these cars (outside of North America) is the Arabian Gulf region, where these are the KINGS of long-distance travel. Baghdad-Amman or Kuwait to Damascus? Sure! be a passenger with a few other people and or reserve it all to yourself if you want to. There are also taxis (Also Chevy; Caprice) or buses but Suburbans are the most common and safest option, especially on those desert roads on a hot summer day - NOTHING beats these monsters. One more thing: Europeans always complain about speed. Again: why do you need to speed in this? why are you trying to get your family killed?!

    These are great for family vehicles. I have four boys, during the week get them all in and add football gear or band instruments you will LOVE this car. And on the weekend it is perfect for vacation toys, towing boats to the lake and motorcycles to the desert. The only thing I hate is the poor gas milage, but I am going to see about upgrading to a newer engine or an electric conversion to solve those problems. And you can pick one up for $10,000 US in great shape, half that if you accept less then perfect conditions. I got my 1995 model twenty years ago and it is still running strong, 200,000 miles and original engine and trans.

    American here. There are a couple on my street. I know the families that own them. Only one makes full use of the space. The others are driven by moms with one child. Basically, i would boil these types of vehicles down to about 25% of people who may need towing or space occasionally and 75% of owners who just enjoy wasting space. Trucks and massive cars like this are in many ways conservative dog whistles, ya know, cuz eff those tree huggers spreading lies about global warming, i will waste gas like its nobody's business every day and there is nothing you can do about it. Funny thing is that the manufacturers of all these trucks and truck based SUV's are laughing all the way to the bank because they slap some leather and chrome on what is essentially a $30,000 truck and sell them for $80,000 for people whose ego requires size and are fragile enough to be willing to pay by the pound for their cars. I lovingly refer to these as America's fleet of oversized, underworked phallus extenders. Cheers

    @peterleschen4280 Před hodinou

    As someone who has been an enthusiast since I got my licence in the 70s, I think every decade has had some really good, desirable cars which have been great to drive, even if the modern stuff is way faster and more capable. There were, however, many more truly awful cars in the 70s and 80s, in part because the initial responses to new emissions control regulations strangled engines and made them horrible to drive and a great many cars were poorly built and prone to bad corrosion. By the 90s those problems were largely overcome and, while there were plenty of boring cars, there were very few truly bad cars. For me, peak car runs through the 90s to about 2015. Good, durable cars, fun to drive, manual transmissions still available, and improved passive and active safety systems that were effective but not too intrusive. Since then, notwithstanding some ludicrously (pointlessly?) fast offerings from the likes of Ferrari, Mclaren and Porsche, and some unquestionably brilliant engineering, active safety has become horribly intrusive and unpleasant, and cars seem more and more like appliances. Very little on the new car market rouses my interest anymore. Regarding EVs, I think Mr Toyota is spot on suggesting they will never by more than 30% of the market and they certainly don't suit my needs. So I'm hoping a 2008 Ford XR6T, a 2009 Boxster, a 2011 Lotus Elise SC and a 2013 VW Polo 77TSI, all manuals, all running beautifully, all fast enough and great fun to drive, will see me out! I guess that list pretty much defines my favorite decade, at least in terms of an ownership proposition. I'm certainly not looking forward to the prospect of having to replace any of them.

    Nice video. Thank you. Having owned over 30 cars I had never purchased the same vehicle twice. That included several German and Italian brands. Until the Kia Stinger GT (red) in 2017. Then when they decided to discontinue it, and not being ready to go electric, I’ve now purchased the last of these. Loved it in 2017, and still love it. At 6’2”, I can sit behind my drivers seat and fit two golf bags in the boot. Plus the sound system is comparable to cars twice the price, if you tick the options list. When these simply have “the lot” as standard. Plus, as it didn’t sell as well it still gets looks and positive comments. Love it!

    For a long time the Suburban was usually owned by farmers, ranchers and contractors who needed to haul heavy loads, large numbers of people or tow a trailer. Then in the early seventies the government put the kibosh on big sedans and station wagons with their safety, pollution and gas mileage regulations. But the Suburban qualified as a truck and therefore, exempt. This is when the auto companies started pushing them as an alternative to the big sedan and station wagon for families.

    You can buy a hybrid instead, even a plug in hybrid. And get rid of all the charging nonsense, while still having an "Electric car" technically and law wise.

    I have a BMW e38 and an e39 M5 plus a R32 GTR - evidence suggests I agree! Modern cars leave me uninspired….,

    first vehicle i ever drove was an 88 suburban. Even those old square bodies drove nice. Glad to see someone enjoying it that doesn't normally get to, its different in a good way. Cheers!

    As an American if a neighbor bought one it ust means they have a bunch of kids 😂 school sports etc it can handle it all and have room for all your gear, tow a boat or a camp trailer too.
