Copycat Popeyes Chicken Sandwich Video 2

- For the chicken marinade
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts(pounded out)
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon EACH paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, salt
For Breading
1 cup flour
½ cup corn starch
1 tablespoon EACH paprika garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (for spicy)
1 teaspoon EACH salt & pepper
Spicy mayo
½ cup mayo
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon paprika or cajun seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
TO ASSEMBLE
4 medium-sized brioche buns or any kind of buns
Mayonnaise
Sliced pickles,(sliced tomato&lettuce- optional)
3-4 cups canola oil for frying
Pound chicken breasts in between two pieces of parchment paper or plastic wrap. Cut each chicken breast in half crosswise to make 2 small pieces of chicken about the same size as the bun (see video below).
In a large bowl, buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, salt & black pepper. Add the chicken to the mix and place in the fridge to marinate up to 24 hours or use right away.
To Cook Chicken
Heat oil in a large heavy-duty skillet or pot on medium temperature or until the temperature reaches 350F. Im going to air fry mine in my Ninja Foodie Grill(in air fry setting)
In a medium shallow bowl, whisk the flour, cornstarch, and spices. Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of the buttermilk batter into the flour mixture and mix it through with a fork.
Working with 1 piece at a time, dredge chicken the flour mixture and press flour on the top chicken to form a thick crust. Transfer chicken to hot oil and fry for 3-5 minutes per side or until the outside is crispy and golden and the internal temperature reaches 165F.
To Assemble
Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large saucepan and toast buns face down until golden and crisp. Whisk all the ingredients for the mayo in a small bowl and spread a generous layer of mayo on each bun. Top with pickles and chicken. Enjoy hot!

Deb D - fortunately, we live in a day and age where we can watch someone we may never meet, cook in their kitchen or share whatever it is they enjoy. Unfortunately, that also means we live in a day and age where online trolls cower behind their computer or phone, thinking it’s funny to get a rise out of someone or hurt their feelings. Sad part is, the rest of us are human and allow it to get to us. With that being said, you have to pity someone who literally had nothing better to do at that moment and this is what they came up with. Life is short, and they spent that part of theirs on someone other than themselves.

I just got the foodie grill. It is absolutely the best thing ever. It grills great and the air crisper is fantastic. If anybody is thinking about getting one I highly recommend it. Looks wonderful. I hope you use your foodi for more recipes.

I bought a air fryer but it’s a 22lt one it does air fry, dehydrator, bake, toast, grill, defrost, fries, wings,convection and keep warm it’s just perfect for me and hubby and there hasn’t been a day where I haven’t used it, it’s a sunbeam air fryer ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Friendly tip: you.dont really need a lot.of flour on the chicken, you.just need enough to cover it up. That's going to prevent the white spots from appearing

Totally liked your video I’ve always made my chicken sandwiches, I’ve tried Popeyes and chic filet, not a fan at all because 1. The cost, 2. The breading is a touch much, 3. I love a slice of onions on mine which Chick-fil-A don’t even have at all to request, Popeyes does, so you did a great job I use butter milk with all my fried chicken recipes.

I have that Ninja grill too and I love it. Not only does it warm up quick compared to a regular oven, but it cooks in almost exactly half the time at the same temperature. Only downside is you have to clean it each time. If you put tinfoil under the food to catch the grease, I think it'll take the same time as an oven because the air can't come up from underneath.

Looks delicious. I have eaten popeye's chicken sandwich, and I have I in a chicken sandwich from chick fil a. Nothing compares to the popeye's chicken sandwich they are incredible.

Jane Fleet Interesting Popeye’s is a large chain and has been around for many years I guess in some small towns they’re aren’t any and folks would have to drive many miles to a bigger city or town I know Popeyes’s originated first in New Orleans and over the years it became popular and went to many states
