- As we all known, LA is dominated by the car and highway: What steps can Los Angeles take to become more public transit friendly? ~Tim

The Los Angeles Metro Rail is an urban rail transportation system serving Los Angeles County, California. It consists of six lines, including two rapid transit subway lines (the Red and Purple lines) and four light rail lines (the Blue, Green, Gold and Expo lines) serving 93 stations. It connects with the Metro Busway bus rapid transit system (the Orange Line and Silver Line) and also with the Metrolink commuter rail system. Metro Rail, which had an average daily weekday ridership of 362,135 as of July 2016, is owned and operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) and started service in 1990. It has been extended significantly since that time and several further extensions are either in the works or being considered. ~Wikipedia

How I miss LA and that nice ding sound when you cross the street on the crosswalk

Those new 2014 trains have less stylish and smaller doors and window then the 1996 ones. But still a nice light rail system.
They also have a lower top speed by 5 mph, but they have much better noise insulation, AC, and displays in my experience.
Never seen these before but haven't been in Los Angeles since 98 I think
I love the metro green line
Впервые вижу метротрам Лос-Анжелеса. Отличное видео!
This system and its cars remind me of the St.Louis metrolink, which was the first metro system train I've ever rode on! But it doesn't run in the middle of the street, though.
MrBnsftrain SAME. The Nippon Sharyo trains look so similar to St. Louis ones
Nice video
Amazing Trains 👌In Germany, Austria and Switzerland has the Lightrailtrains the name ,, S-BAHN ''
Awesome video of LA Metro's light rail. Do you know which city you plan to go to?
i was curious so now i'm here
I've told Blue line is the most dangerous line to ride due to aggressive panhandlers and other problems on all times except rush hours!
You should film the subway over there too if you haven't. I want to go to Los Angeles to see them in person. Nice Video.
Ford Escape You are a car and the door is too narrow for you.
Lol
I live in LA, and I can say that while our two subway lines aren't much compared to other cities', a video of them would still be nice.
You have the Red and Purple line only? Where do they each go?
Sgt. Eclair Just a short extension of the green lone out to the Norwalk MetroLink station could really fill it up.
Dallas I'm in the Dart light rail trains we have it's still running good ever since the 90's when it was built, but the Los Angeles light rails are a little bit the same
Can you do Toronto next?
Hmm the 2014 trains sound like the PATH trains in NYC and NJ
The 2014 rolling stock sounds like the PATH pa5 and the older rolling stock sounds like the NYC Subway R110
2:11 It sounds like the TTC t1 subway trains

My favorite line is the Green Line. Too bad you didn't really get a good shot of it.
Me too
Why do the Blue and Expo lines have diverse rolling stock?
Because they share right of way in downtown Los Angeles, and because the blue line has weight restrictions, the Breda cars cannot ride on them which leads the gold line to be more homogeneous
Hey, nice video! I noticed you only got footage of the Expo Line and Blue Line trains running on shared track; any reason for that? There's a whole lot more to the system in LA!
You are right! I did get some footage of the gold line (which I don't remember the name) and will post later! I was there for just one day so a lot of filming and site seeing packed into one day :)
Awesome! The Gold Line's my personal favorite, and it's great that you were able to enjoy our system and city!
Also get the Expo Line at the Santa Monica station.
very nice in the front and back.. but on the sides.. does this light rail try to become a metro or what? MUNI does it better in San Francisco for sure I think.. great service anyway!
Michal Bergseth it is a metro on panographs essentially, runs faster than muni, less street crossings, yeah it is a metro
The only railfanning video ruined by an ad
Why do these particular lrt's look like subways instead?
That's that spacial American way, they like their things big :)) But also that's because there's two different type of LR in US: streetcar and LR itself, which in European classification is tram-train and there's no that obsolete conception of streetcar there, except in post-Soviet countries, where almost all tram systems is of streetcar, in fact.
@@Whitebeard79outOfRus Ah I see. I come from Toronto where we are building a new lrt system and the vehicles for it look more like streetcars
Trams?
They never run on the street and they have a lot of dedicated track so it’s light rail
For one, something needs to be done about the sheer number of grade crossings...
sonicboy678 what the fuck do u want, it’s light rail?
And?
In order to improve service for people, the number of grade crossings really needs to be cut down (I'd say eliminated, but one thing at a time.
sonicboy678 well so how do u remove grade crossings on the existing lines!?
Why not look at other grade crossing removal projects for the answer?
I think that would entail elevating or depressing the tracks above grade or below grade, respectively. Either that or the intersecting streets. Of course you could simply block off the side streets at the track but people won't like that.
