When Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles released in 2003 it delivered one of the most unique experiences ever seen before in not only the franchise, but also gaming as a whole.
Such was the level of innovation present, that it was given high accolades in Japan. But the game wouldn't have been possible had the relationship between Square and Nintendo been fixed.
Throughout this video, we talk about how the relationship between the two companies was repaired and how Crystal Chronicles ended up being born as a result of Square wanting to prove their commitment to this new relationship.
Fingers crossed this serves as a nice appetiser in preparation to the release of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered on the 27th of August for PS4, Switch, iOS and Android.

Well all I know is I played ds/3ds rpgs primarily the last few years. I mean now I've added switch but I've just been playing old games on there like ffviii, ffx/ffx2, ffxii, star ocean, and I know shin megami tensei when they come out. Maybe they're right but if any of these were multiplayer and I can find others who want to play I'd gladly do so. Hence crystal chronicles being ideal.
I love RPGs the problem is they don't make them with multiplayer often enough.

Personally I think my favorite aspect of the game is the fact that the ending is something people could miss. I personally enjoy it when a game is more ambiguous allowing you the player to come up with your own conclusions for the state of the world it deepens the games sense of exploration.
You do not see this a lot in game’s anymore as they are more than willing to make it pretty much obvious to the point where it doesn’t feel special and while that is a matter of personal preference I think it can be a very bold expression to allow players to find the answer themselves however they choose to find it.

I SOOO hope this remake reinvigorates the sub-series.
I love Crystal Chronicles. I never got to play with friends, but even so, the gameplay was so fun, and the music was so moving it usually felt bittersweet. Going on this journey alone. But every time I played the game I had so much fun.
I'm one of the few who's played all the Crystal Chronicles games, (Barring, shutter, Crystal Bearers) and while they weren't at their best, they were all great games.
No system better matches the idea of Crystal Chronicles than the Switch. And especially if the diary comes back and you write about who you were playing with, it could be INCREDIBLE to take your Switch places once things go back to normal, and just play Crystal Chronicles with friends and people you meet, both online and in person.
I need this game to sell well... ... ...And not only because I want an excuse to get Yukes as a race in FFXIV.

I absolutely loved this game when it came out. I had one other friend with a GBA and a link cable and had a blast playing it. Two players wasn't the optimal setup but still better than playing alone. Final Fantasy, but multiplayer are you kidding? At that time, that was a revolutionary idea. And if you look at it, you can tell Crystal Chronicles laid the ground work for the Final Fantasy MMO's to come. I always wanted to replay this game but never in a million years expected a remake. I resigned myself as an adult to collecting the necessary hardware to relive the game with my kids when they were old enough. But now that its going to be out for the Switch with all the updates I hope this will be the definitive Crystal Chronicles experience.

Thatnks for this video, I love FFCC to bits I've played it countless times, mostly alone because I never had a 2nd gba nor link cables to play with my brother and the few friends that I had only one had and we couldn't hang out much so I ended up playing alone.
But that didn't bothered me, the game is fun in single player, playing through the dungeons alone felt like an adventure plus the music (which is still my favorite FF ost ever) gave the dungeons a nice ambiance, which made going at alone a lot better and sorta relaxing somehow (not to mention that you don't have to put the game down wait who knows how long to hang out with friends and play again, I found it better in single player most of the time).
I have some minor nitpicks and criticism but no game is perfect and like I said I love this game to bits, the gameplay, music, characters, art style, I can keep going with other stuff I like but this comment is pretty long already; it's honestly the only game I was looking forward to the most, but then it got delayed, but I'm glad it's finally coming out next week I can't really wait to play it again.

The original crystal chronicles on the gamecube, its best to play alone. Not only it’s annoying that one of the party members has to carry the chalice in multiplayer mode, but you have Mog in your party instead that carries it for you. And also helps you fight, so it never feels like you are alone.

it's funny they say they were inspired by D&D, as I created a FFCC inspired D&D campaign because I liked the idea of miasma and a worldwide desolation repealed by a substance you collect for your village so rich for a d&D campaign.

I think i haven’t played an FF game with kumi tanioka in charge with the music. still, great video though! looking forward to more videos like these 😁👍🏽

Can I also point out that Crystal Chronicles showcased the abundant greed Nintendo truly has. The Game Cube had four controller slots, yet you could only play single player unless you and/or your friends had three additional Gameboy Advances PLUS the required connection cables (that no game store ever had). Nintendo may make "family-friendly" games, but they're the least gamer friendly, almost every console they've made after the N64 requires you to buy extra crap for a single game that you'll never use for anything else.

I had always been wanting to really play Crystal Chronicles, myself, but unfortunately I've never had anyone nearby to play any co-op games with, myself. I could use Dolphin now, but I have no idea how the GBA emulator linking works there, and my computer's not the best, anyway, so I wouldn't be surprised if the framerate would _chug_ when going multiplayer at all.
