- 9x 305mm Guns lobbing AP Shells at 950m/s to 22.9km with cruiser dispersion and a 16.3s reload time does not a balanced ship make. Especially when they are mounted on a stalinium tank.

Added that Yamato clip in there because it's such a good example of how the game mechanics work, and most people wont believe it until they see it. The comments my opponents made is also one of the reasons I tend to take any balance complaints made by the average player with a HUGE grain of salt.

Well..as much as i want to have this ship..thats not healthy for anyone. its like smoking 5 packs of cigarettes every day. its neither healthy for you nor the others and for the people that are just watching you and dont want to interact with you. aaaaand it eventually kills you

I thought not. It's not a story the Battleships would tell you. It's a Cruiser legend. Darth Stalingrd was a Dark Lord of the Crusiers, so powerful and so wise he could use dispersion to influence the balance of the game. He had such a knowledge of HE that he could even keep the ones that angled from living. The cruiser side of matchmaking is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be…..unnatural.
He became so powerful…the only thing he was afraid of was losing his balance, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice buffed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from being overpowered, but not himself.

if you have more than 33mm of armour and you are angled you can bounce every shell from every ship in the game.

It is live server, but it isn't flamu account. He played under username WoWsCSTesting_55. So comment that he is tier 10 player doesn't had merit, because players can't know who is playing. Some noob employee of WG can be playing under that name.
I'm a painfully mediocre T5 player and even I wouldn't have done what that minotaur did.

Not sure what's more OP. Flamu, that test ship, or the complete idiocy of half the playerbase of WoWs. If we're to look for some kind of excuse or explanation, the Mushashi might have been deluded into thinking he was shooting at the nose when he was not leading enough (thus hitting the belt)...but holly molly that Minotaur was something else. Words fail me, for real.

And yet the Gulio's guns got nerfed so hard some salvo's have a spread spanning 3 km. The level of inconsistency with them is straight up painful and very frustrating.

Also the guilios guns in my opinion at least have decent dispersion, sure it is German dispersion but it has 1.9 sigma. So she has decent consistency, though I'll be the first to tell you that any BB's guns have a mind of their own and they do what they want and the guilio's German roots come out to show themselves quite often D:
IJN Myogi needs that treatment at T4. And it would be balanced. But giving it at T10? ouch.
And she still is the strongest Tier 5 battleship. :P

It ought to, they were very accurate guns. Scharnhorst made one of the longest hits ever scored by a naval gun on an enemy ship when she struck the British carrier HMS Glorious at approximately 26,465 yards (24,200 m), and that was only her 3rd salvo. That's more or less tied with the famous hit by HMS Warspite on the Italian battleship Guilio Cesare in July 1940.
Bottom line is the best way to play WG games is to be as ignorant as possible when it comes to real life performance of weapons systems and naval warfare in general. They have to make shit up as it's a game, but if you don't know much of the period it won't bother you as much.

Steeltrap yeah, whatever the other problems were with ww2 german battleships, their guns were more accurate than british ones, in WoWs tho they get horrible accuracy. It seems in WoWs especially historical accuracy isnt really a priority
I'm fine with them ignoring history; fact is you'd not have a balanced game if they didn't.
It's just I wish I didn't realise quite how badly they're screwing with reality; I worry people who aren't very knowledgeable might think the game bears some resemblance to it, lol.
The Stalingrad is like the Panzer II J in World of Tanks. Its stupidly OP, but it provides good memes

Project 23 and 24. 70k tonne standard displacement, highest velocity 16" guns in the game. Project 24 might be getting 18" guns for balance purposes, but it should be keeping the 16" guns.
Each gun will launch a torpedo bomber.

Yeah. Flamu brings up the ease at which he achieved a 3.1k base XP game seemingly as proof of Stalingrad being overpowered but I'm pretty sure that was more because he had the luxury of ten straight minutes of shooting at exposed T9/T10 broadsides.
I'm not denying the ship is broken, but there are quite a few ships out there who would have done almost as well in that situation. Montana, Missouri, Moskva, Hindenburg, Kronshtadt...
Do not forget: Most of the time he was sitting unspotted behind an island 20km away. It is impossible to angle against everything and always maintaining a good angle against this guns with BB penetration, US CA bounce angles and railgun shell velocities is not possible.
Also no not forget that even when fighting back a huge part of the ship is covered in 50mm armor so all cruisers except Hindenburg and IFHE Henri will deal greatly reduced HE damage to it. The hull is at distance at least on par, if not better than that of the Conqueror and Republique due to all the 50mm plating.

Every time I get sunk in this game, especially devstruck or detonated, I think about what I did to put myself in that position. If i conclude that I was doing the right thing and RNG called my number than so be it. More often it was the result of doing something dumb. I have never once blamed an enemy for taking advantage of my dumb moves. What is with these people? How do they function in society?

Yes! Its a T6 which constantly ends up bottom tier, and its an actual ship, not just some "blueprint" that WG pulled out from their ass. Even if it becomes a little OP, its still in fucking T6 which no one gives a shit about and its not like we have a perfectly balanced game right now so I think giving it CA dispersion wouldn't hurt.

One interesting thing is that Midway AP Bombs blow this ship like a match in a room full of dynamite. You can devastate it the same way you devastate Des moines and Moskva. except they can slot dfaa. Its stalingrads biggest weakness but thats not enough.
An excellent and very informative video. I knew that angling was important but that demonstration on the tier I really drives it home.

1: AP only, BB dispersion
2: AP only, CA dispersion
3: AP/HE, BB dispersion

The Stalingrad that have HE and AP WG called "Stalingrad 2". This is the "Stalingrad" v2. I assume the "v2" is the second version of "Stalingrad" Flamu got hand on.
also worth noting that I think AP CA dispersion loses the 32mm bow that AP only BB dispersion gets

I just thought about something though concerning the DD armor change mentioned in this video. Wouldn't this change be a buff to the Akizuki and the upcoming t9 and t10 version of the Akizuki? With this change, IFHE might not be considered mandatory, thus saving 4 points to be used elsewhere.
Being here after I am torching stuff with my Vermont/Incomparable levels of pen on my 254mm Novosibirsk guns sure feels nostalgic...

The only way I can see this being balanced is to reduce the ROF to 20 sec reload, nerf the dispersion to Montana levels, and drop the HP pool to 50k. Oh, and halve the torp belt.
No, then it's just a another shit heavy cruiser. The rate of fire is fine, the dispersion should be higher but still a good sigma(maybe NC) and the HP pool is just fine, the armor still cant stand up to BB guns so I'm fine with it.

So what would be the suggested balancing for this? I'm thinking 17.4km default range. Thoughts?
How does this compare to the already present Moskva, they can both citadel or mod damage bb's, they both have troll armor, they both have cruiser speed and AA, all I can see is a bit less dpm for a bit more gun caliber? This isn't to say that either are balanced, I'm just curious.
Flamu can you upload the Yamato vs. Hermelin clip as another video? I think it would be a very useful demonstration of the game's core mechanics in a wide variety of contexts.

Musashi guy is just used to face rolling and having his shells pen so he didn't know what to do when they didn't.

Just yesterday I fought a Minotaur at 4km with my grozovoi and straight up wrecked him with 16 citadels since he broadsided me to get torpedos off. His reaction was exactly as you would expect

Seen the Stalingrad twice now. First time on my team he basically won the game alone. There was no question about that. We were down I believe 4 or 5 ships and he basically just went around killing them all. 3.5k base exp..and ppl still kept saying what a great ship so awesome..I really don't understand that.
2nd one was actually funny. He was on the enemy team and got oneshot by an Izumo (first blood for that guy), guess he did not understand angling either.

Fun fact Stalingrad is 270m like Iowa - but it is slightly thinner with a 30m Beam compared to Iowa with 33m...
Still though - its pretty much the size of a *battleship Iowa*. - its a little silly that they put this (battle) - pause - Cruiser as a T10 cruiser.
