9x 305mm Guns lobbing AP Shells at 950m/s to 22.9km with cruiser dispersion and a 16.3s reload time does not a balanced ship make. Especially when they are mounted on a stalinium tank.
Added that Yamato clip in there because it's such a good example of how the game mechanics work, and most people wont believe it until they see it. The comments my opponents made is also one of the reasons I tend to take any balance complaints made by the average player with a HUGE grain of salt. Discord: discord.gg/Flamu Stream: www.twitch.tv/flamuu Twitter: twitter.com/flamuchz
Well..as much as i want to have this ship..thats not healthy for anyone. its like smoking 5 packs of cigarettes every day. its neither healthy for you nor the others and for the people that are just watching you and dont want to interact with you. aaaaand it eventually kills you
What a game, this ship is way to strong, the point with the angled armor... I didnt know that until i saw this Video with the yamato wow, nice Video :)
Jelli, Wargaming put up a video today that explains the mechanics very well: czcams.com/video/yQcutrneBJQ/video.html But really good example with the Yamato vs Hermelin. Had to learn that the painful way too...
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Stalingrad The Wise? I thought not. It's not a story the Battleships would tell you. It's a Cruiser legend. Darth Stalingrd was a Dark Lord of the Crusiers, so powerful and so wise he could use dispersion to influence the balance of the game. He had such a knowledge of HE that he could even keep the ones that angled from living. The cruiser side of matchmaking is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be…..unnatural. He became so powerful…the only thing he was afraid of was losing his balance, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice buffed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from being overpowered, but not himself.
It is live server, but it isn't flamu account. He played under username WoWsCSTesting_55. So comment that he is tier 10 player doesn't had merit, because players can't know who is playing. Some noob employee of WG can be playing under that name.
Not sure what's more OP. Flamu, that test ship, or the complete idiocy of half the playerbase of WoWs. If we're to look for some kind of excuse or explanation, the Mushashi might have been deluded into thinking he was shooting at the nose when he was not leading enough (thus hitting the belt)...but holly molly that Minotaur was something else. Words fail me, for real.
And yet the Gulio's guns got nerfed so hard some salvo's have a spread spanning 3 km. The level of inconsistency with them is straight up painful and very frustrating.
Benjamin Signor yeah but my point still stands that they tested it and have the data on how it's a bad idea. Also the guilios guns in my opinion at least have decent dispersion, sure it is German dispersion but it has 1.9 sigma. So she has decent consistency, though I'll be the first to tell you that any BB's guns have a mind of their own and they do what they want and the guilio's German roots come out to show themselves quite often D:
It ought to, they were very accurate guns. Scharnhorst made one of the longest hits ever scored by a naval gun on an enemy ship when she struck the British carrier HMS Glorious at approximately 26,465 yards (24,200 m), and that was only her 3rd salvo. That's more or less tied with the famous hit by HMS Warspite on the Italian battleship Guilio Cesare in July 1940. Bottom line is the best way to play WG games is to be as ignorant as possible when it comes to real life performance of weapons systems and naval warfare in general. They have to make shit up as it's a game, but if you don't know much of the period it won't bother you as much. ;-p
Steeltrap yeah, whatever the other problems were with ww2 german battleships, their guns were more accurate than british ones, in WoWs tho they get horrible accuracy. It seems in WoWs especially historical accuracy isnt really a priority
I'm fine with them ignoring history; fact is you'd not have a balanced game if they didn't. It's just I wish I didn't realise quite how badly they're screwing with reality; I worry people who aren't very knowledgeable might think the game bears some resemblance to it, lol.
Project 23 and 24. 70k tonne standard displacement, highest velocity 16" guns in the game. Project 24 might be getting 18" guns for balance purposes, but it should be keeping the 16" guns.
CVs will launch bomber squads with Khaba duct-taped to every plane as a payload. And Khabas will be able to fire while in the air. Trust me, I'm Russian.
Yeah. Flamu brings up the ease at which he achieved a 3.1k base XP game seemingly as proof of Stalingrad being overpowered but I'm pretty sure that was more because he had the luxury of ten straight minutes of shooting at exposed T9/T10 broadsides. I'm not denying the ship is broken, but there are quite a few ships out there who would have done almost as well in that situation. Montana, Missouri, Moskva, Hindenburg, Kronshtadt...
Do not forget: Most of the time he was sitting unspotted behind an island 20km away. It is impossible to angle against everything and always maintaining a good angle against this guns with BB penetration, US CA bounce angles and railgun shell velocities is not possible. Also no not forget that even when fighting back a huge part of the ship is covered in 50mm armor so all cruisers except Hindenburg and IFHE Henri will deal greatly reduced HE damage to it. The hull is at distance at least on par, if not better than that of the Conqueror and Republique due to all the 50mm plating.
Every time I get sunk in this game, especially devstruck or detonated, I think about what I did to put myself in that position. If i conclude that I was doing the right thing and RNG called my number than so be it. More often it was the result of doing something dumb. I have never once blamed an enemy for taking advantage of my dumb moves. What is with these people? How do they function in society?
I've always liked your videos, to the point and always with informed and detailed descriptions. But goddamn I died when you cut to the Yamato shooting the Hermelin!
Flamu I'm a novices that don't even play this game, i just love to watch the top players play.. But i watched long enough to know, that mino WAS VERY MUCH BROAD SIDE.. thank you bro you are one of the best when it comes to educating on game mechanics and strategies....🚢
Yes! Its a T6 which constantly ends up bottom tier, and its an actual ship, not just some "blueprint" that WG pulled out from their ass. Even if it becomes a little OP, its still in fucking T6 which no one gives a shit about and its not like we have a perfectly balanced game right now so I think giving it CA dispersion wouldn't hurt.
One interesting thing is that Midway AP Bombs blow this ship like a match in a room full of dynamite. You can devastate it the same way you devastate Des moines and Moskva. except they can slot dfaa. Its stalingrads biggest weakness but thats not enough.
one of the funniest vids so far :D players like the musashi or mino in your vid make this game a lot easier for players like me, who are not very good but at least understand the basics
The Stalingrad that have HE and AP WG called "Stalingrad 2". This is the "Stalingrad" v2. I assume the "v2" is the second version of "Stalingrad" Flamu got hand on.
Flamu is just so thorough and clear in the way he explains how to play this game; such a skilled player - I met him twice in battle and soiled my pants when he popped up lol. Would be nice to be on his side next time :)
I just thought about something though concerning the DD armor change mentioned in this video. Wouldn't this change be a buff to the Akizuki and the upcoming t9 and t10 version of the Akizuki? With this change, IFHE might not be considered mandatory, thus saving 4 points to be used elsewhere.
12:00 may be my absolute favorite moment on YT. I don't say that lightly or in jest. He made such an absurd sounding, but true statement and was ridiculed for it. Then took time to prove his exact example was in fact very, very true. I can't describe how satisfying that was.
The only way I can see this being balanced is to reduce the ROF to 20 sec reload, nerf the dispersion to Montana levels, and drop the HP pool to 50k. Oh, and halve the torp belt.

Oh those lovely german rage kids... how nice... they are always such an awesome experience to play with. Unlimited number of incoming reports just because you dared to hurt them or talk to them... how nice~~~
How does this compare to the already present Moskva, they can both citadel or mod damage bb's, they both have troll armor, they both have cruiser speed and AA, all I can see is a bit less dpm for a bit more gun caliber? This isn't to say that either are balanced, I'm just curious.
Flamu can you upload the Yamato vs. Hermelin clip as another video? I think it would be a very useful demonstration of the game's core mechanics in a wide variety of contexts.
Just yesterday I fought a Minotaur at 4km with my grozovoi and straight up wrecked him with 16 citadels since he broadsided me to get torpedos off. His reaction was exactly as you would expect
Seen the Stalingrad twice now. First time on my team he basically won the game alone. There was no question about that. We were down I believe 4 or 5 ships and he basically just went around killing them all. 3.5k base exp..and ppl still kept saying what a great ship so awesome..I really don't understand that. 2nd one was actually funny. He was on the enemy team and got oneshot by an Izumo (first blood for that guy), guess he did not understand angling either.
Flolo, I saw this on your stream and just had to laugh: at the ship, who will soon be happily blapping the new USN cruisers, at the Red Team, etc. Perhaps we need a new term: "Never My Fault!" maybe NMF? Thanks for the good advice.
Fun fact Stalingrad is 270m like Iowa - but it is slightly thinner with a 30m Beam compared to Iowa with 33m... Still though - its pretty much the size of a *battleship Iowa*. - its a little silly that they put this (battle) - pause - Cruiser as a T10 cruiser.
Nice preview of the russian BB-line. Seriously tho, if they leave it as it is, this will be the no1 radar-cruiser to go to in clanbattles. Like you said, those are BB-sized broadsides every 16.5 seconds. Scary.

it seems a lot of people think angled means anything that is not 90°
Minotaur and Musashi disliked. ;)
Team:"OMG the enemy team has a Yamato, what we gonna do?!"
Hermelin:"halt my beer.."

"Halt mein Bier"
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Stalingrad The Wise?

LOL, +1 for effort.
LMFAO.
A suprise to be sure but a welcome one
DDs hated him because he was coarse and got everywhere?
You underestimate my power!
The Stalingrad is a battleship that indentifies as a cruiser
Did you just assume its gender?
*sexually identifies*
What's wrong with calling it a Battlecruiser?
Trans-oceanic?
It's a battlecruiser
That T1 bouncing Yamato shells. While I was aware of the mechanic, seeing it in action made me chuckle out loud nonetheless
Yeah it's ahem
Interesting
Man those idiots really triggered Flollo. He actually had to try to tell tier 10 players what angling is....
if you have more than 33mm of armour and you are angled you can bounce every shell from every ship in the game.
He didn't know he was tier 10 player. Anybody could be in test account.
Aleksandar Petrović this wasn't liver server??
It is live server, but it isn't flamu account. He played under username WoWsCSTesting_55. So comment that he is tier 10 player doesn't had merit, because players can't know who is playing. Some noob employee of WG can be playing under that name.
I'm a painfully mediocre T5 player and even I wouldn't have done what that minotaur did.
"I was angled". fcking LOL.
Hermelin. What a joke OP ship!!! XD
Deus Ex Machina **Choke
Aren't we forgetting about Black Swan?
ahahahha Hermelin the hero!
Hermelin - zero fucks given!
Driven by Hans :D
That's probably the most damage a hermelin has ever tanked in its existence
would've citadel him in a black swan. black swan op
brilliant use of a hermelin - bouncing yamato shells...
Not sure what's more OP. Flamu, that test ship, or the complete idiocy of half the playerbase of WoWs. If we're to look for some kind of excuse or explanation, the Mushashi might have been deluded into thinking he was shooting at the nose when he was not leading enough (thus hitting the belt)...but holly molly that Minotaur was something else. ramjb maybe he thought musashi guns can overmatch all armour in the game so they shouldn't bounce?
ramjb ,Mino- 'watch me broadside at 4km then complain when I get citadeled to death'.
The fact that some players that made it up to tier X have that little knowledge of some of the most basic game mechanics blows my mind every time
You don't play on weekends do you? :P
Well I do, and I agree that in the weekends you sometimes see some of the most stupid stuff in the chat. But these guys take it to a new level
Better your mind than your citadels.
Giroro Mek lol, thats a good pun, I am going to write that one down if you dont mind :p
Knodsil welcome to my weekends......... When the 30k AvG Damage Battleship Skippers explain to you how "nob" you are for shooting AP Shells
Cruiser dispersion BB guns... Did they learn nothing from the guilio test!?
Oh wait, it's WG were talking about.
And yet the Gulio's guns got nerfed so hard some salvo's have a spread spanning 3 km. The level of inconsistency with them is straight up painful and very frustrating.
Benjamin Signor yeah but my point still stands that they tested it and have the data on how it's a bad idea.

IJN Myogi needs that treatment at T4. And it would be balanced. But giving it at T10? ouch.
And she still is the strongest Tier 5 battleship. :P
I wish Scharn had this dispersion! :(
It ought to, they were very accurate guns. The Stalingrad is like the Panzer II J in World of Tanks. Its stupidly OP, but it provides good memes
Knodsil 😁
If these are the Russian “”””cruisers””””, then I shudder to think what the battleships would be like.
we didn't call their DDs cruisers for no reason.
Project 23 and 24. 70k tonne standard displacement, highest velocity 16" guns in the game. Project 24 might be getting 18" guns for balance purposes, but it should be keeping the 16" guns.
Each gun will launch a torpedo bomber.
Ye their bbs are gonna be like super cvs
And their CV line something like hellicarriers
CVs will launch bomber squads with Khaba duct-taped to every plane as a payload. And Khabas will be able to fire while in the air.
Trust me, I'm Russian.
12:49 " We can look at his corpse and see how much broadside his giving"!!! LMAO epic!!!!
What's even broken is that your enemies are all sailing full broadside to you
Yeah. Flamu brings up the ease at which he achieved a 3.1k base XP game seemingly as proof of Stalingrad being overpowered but I'm pretty sure that was more because he had the luxury of ten straight minutes of shooting at exposed T9/T10 broadsides.

Hand Bannana they don't
Ignorant, uninformed, egocentric or 12 years old.
Pick Two 😀
I've always liked your videos, to the point and always with informed and detailed descriptions. But goddamn I died when you cut to the Yamato shooting the Hermelin!
This shit is broken.
I want it.
Flamu I'm a novices that don't even play this game, i just love to watch the top players play.. But i watched long enough to know, that mino WAS VERY MUCH BROAD SIDE.. thank you bro you are one of the best when it comes to educating on game mechanics and strategies....🚢
Lol this ship gets cruiser dispersion on 305s while Graf still gets BB dispersion on 285s....thanks Russian bias
And it only gets 6 of them
exactly
Stalingrad was a cold war design
Project 82 - 3 laid down
Liked the T-1 Demo pretty cool and I learned a great deal about proper angles. Thank you Flamu. :)
One interesting thing is that Midway AP Bombs blow this ship like a match in a room full of dynamite. You can devastate it the same way you devastate Des moines and Moskva. except they can slot dfaa. Its stalingrads biggest weakness but thats not enough.
An excellent and very informative video. I knew that angling was important but that demonstration on the tier I really drives it home.
one of the funniest vids so far :D players like the musashi or mino in your vid make this game a lot easier for players like me, who are not very good but at least understand the basics
"omg that dispersion, sorry but that's just stupid" lmao
Thanks for getting me in trouble in Airbnb at 4am..Holy shit my sides left orbit when pulled out that T1 cruiser bounce vid.
Great video as usual. Your balanced and fair commentary is refreshing.
Hey Flamu =) this is the AP only Version so its the Stalingrad v1 ? the v2 option has AP and HE or i am wrong here ? best regards mate
There are 3 version:
1: AP only, BB dispersion
2: AP only, CA dispersion
3: AP/HE, BB dispersion
Correct, its stalingrad 1, version 2. So yeah it gets confusing.
The Stalingrad that have HE and AP WG called "Stalingrad 2". This is the "Stalingrad" v2. I assume the "v2" is the second version of "Stalingrad" Flamu got hand on.
also worth noting that I think AP CA dispersion loses the 32mm bow that AP only BB dispersion gets
That's a nice battle -ship- cruiser. Well done *again* WG.
Love you Flamu!no homo.U make such great videos with all the explanation and example we need to understud the game.Great work mate.Keep it up!
Hah that additional scene with the hermelin was nice :D
Dude this is an example of the 30° bounce from the WG's video. Now i understand the math
Hermelin confirmed OP :o & agorob is such a peach IGC!
LMAO when you switch to the Yamato clip😂😂 flamu you are the best
Flamu! I love the way you say "stupid"! LOL - Great video
Flamu, you won the internet with that T1 bounce clip...
Flamu is just so thorough and clear in the way he explains how to play this game; such a skilled player - I met him twice in battle and soiled my pants when he popped up lol. Would be nice to be on his side next time :)
That T1 example...so beautiful xD
Loved the video!
Lmao! Thank you for that explanation. Yamato must be underpowered!!!
insane ship! hope to try it in the game!
Nice cutaway. Great example!
what a demonstraition with the Hermelin.....I see it exactly, he was on ramming-speed :))
6:32 "look at that dispersion. Jeez, its so disgusting" - that is every BBs player's wet dream. ESPECIALLY GERMAN BBs
Khanh Vu
Hey!
Can I do dis in my Kurfürst? No? *Sad Face*
brilliant example to expose the whinger. keep up the good work flamu.
holy smoke...
12:08 i had to say...is the most satisfying thing i had ever seen in my life...
Amazing ship
*Henri IV has entered the game*
i hope it doesnt come like this... did they even try to balance it?
why they dont make a BB out of them?
I just thought about something though concerning the DD armor change mentioned in this video. Wouldn't this change be a buff to the Akizuki and the upcoming t9 and t10 version of the Akizuki? With this change, IFHE might not be considered mandatory, thus saving 4 points to be used elsewhere.
Being here after I am torching stuff with my Vermont/Incomparable levels of pen on my 254mm Novosibirsk guns sure feels nostalgic...
I thought for sure I ran into a Stalingrad 2 a couple nights ago that was running HE and AP... was that just a short term test version?
The WoWs Equivalent of the Bobject 268v4
The Yamato clip killed me 😂😂
12:00 may be my absolute favorite moment on YT. I don't say that lightly or in jest. He made such an absurd sounding, but true statement and was ridiculed for it. Then took time to prove his exact example was in fact very, very true.
I can't describe how satisfying that was.
12:08 I've never seen someone get owned so hard XD, this made me laugh my ass off at 6am in the morning XD
the stalingrad is a wolf that was raised with swans hahaha
That was a great interruption to show a T1 tank those shells. I hope you sent that person a link to this vid.
Stupid overpowered... PERFECT! I want one! lol :-O
+1k for that T10 v T1 cutaway. Epic trolling
Calling it now, this'll be the final version. Balance and CC opinion be damned
There is still a smoke screen missing....
The only way I can see this being balanced is to reduce the ROF to 20 sec reload, nerf the dispersion to Montana levels, and drop the HP pool to 50k. Oh, and halve the torp belt.
No, then it's just a another shit heavy cruiser. The rate of fire is fine, the dispersion should be higher but still a good sigma(maybe NC) and the HP pool is just fine, the armor still cant stand up to BB guns so I'm fine with it.
Austen Schiratti It got even worse, you were almost right
"I was never in any danger" Yeah... Angling with that ship? sure!
Totally broken, but still would want one just for the giggles :))
okay so in the hermlin clip, instead of aiming at the belt where would you aim to maximize damage(if an enemy is giving you this profile)
Actually did not know that yamato couldn't pen like that. Thought it would blast through everything.
Working as intended.
Oh those lovely german rage kids... how nice... they are always such an awesome experience to play with. Unlimited number of incoming reports just because you dared to hurt them or talk to them... how nice~~~
Meh that cancer in Missouri. Camp+HE+ 20km from enemy=101% rage.
Kamil942
Yeah that gived me fking cancer...rip
I do have a question on how this ship is going to be earned? Will it be a reqard ship or it will be earned from the Arsenal when 0.7.6 rolls around?
The Yamato didn't even hit your belt, he hit the water...
That Yamato clip made me laugh :D This ship really is OP.
you are the Best......................
So what would be the suggested balancing for this? I'm thinking 17.4km default range. Thoughts?
How does this compare to the already present Moskva, they can both citadel or mod damage bb's, they both have troll armor, they both have cruiser speed and AA, all I can see is a bit less dpm for a bit more gun caliber? This isn't to say that either are balanced, I'm just curious.
Flamu can you upload the Yamato vs. Hermelin clip as another video? I think it would be a very useful demonstration of the game's core mechanics in a wide variety of contexts.
The good old days we thought that the Stalingrad was overpowered.
Helvetin hyvä tuo Yamato clippi :D
seems WG reacted to your video.. there is a "how it works: Armor" online now... for our Musashi hero :-)
what is wrong with the bayern dispersion ? need video please
Yep, that is a Battleship dmg performance right there...; almost identical to the [RAIN] Battleship replay from TheMightJingles today
What do we think of the kronshadt if the Stalingrad is op?
I can only say this, if this is what we can expect from cruisers (OP cruisers that behavior like BBs), how much OP will the Soviet BBs will be?
Musashi guy is just used to face rolling and having his shells pen so he didn't know what to do when they didn't.
If conqueror is megazao and worchester is megalanta is the HE Stalingrad megahorst?
Just yesterday I fought a Minotaur at 4km with my grozovoi and straight up wrecked him with 16 citadels since he broadsided me to get torpedos off. His reaction was exactly as you would expect
Flamu is a fucking savage puts a clip in the middle of his replay explaining game mechanics to fry these potatoes XD
did the stalingrad come out with cruiser acc?
This is a hilarious video.
The T1 example vid was laughtacular!
They need to add the alaska class battlecruiser so we have some counter to this and the kronshtadt
Flolo, I saw this on your stream and just had to laugh: at the ship, who will soon be happily blapping the new USN cruisers, at the Red Team, etc. Perhaps we need a new term: "Never My Fault!" maybe NMF? Thanks for the good advice.
I think it needs the Royal Navy Heal and Torpedoes to be competitive...
Fun fact Stalingrad is 270m like Iowa - but it is slightly thinner with a 30m Beam compared to Iowa with 33m...
Still though - its pretty much the size of a *battleship Iowa*. - its a little silly that they put this (battle) - pause - Cruiser as a T10 cruiser.
you say its too strong, what are your suggestions to make it balanced. give your opinion on what they should do
Hermelin OP confirmed!
Nice preview of the russian BB-line.
Seriously tho, if they leave it as it is, this will be the no1 radar-cruiser to go to in clanbattles.
Like you said, those are BB-sized broadsides every 16.5 seconds. Scary.
I actually agree with flamu for once this ship is truly OP
