2019 hike from North Macedonia to Albania - Thru-hike Europe LOG#26

- We arrived in North Macedonia, the 12th country of our thru-hike in Europe and then reached Albania again!
We took a few weeks to discover North Macedonia, this quite unknown country, from its capital city, Skopje, to the gorgeous Lake Ohrid.
With our guest Jesse, we hiked along the Matka Canyon, crossed some villages to discover the heart of the country: its inhabitants, visited the little village of Galitchnik where only two still live, went hiking in the Mavrovo National Park and finally took a well deserved swim in the Lake Ohrid.
Then it was so nice to catch up with Albania again, we love this country! From Pogradec, we reached the mountains nearby to meet very special travelers... Ashley and Quentin are bikepacking from France to Indonesia but horseback riding in Albania!
How amazing to discover the fantastic Canyon Osumi and making new friends there! We also started to suffer from the summer heat, hopefully after discovring the Blue Eye, we reached the sea in Ksamil!!

If I hike from Lake Ohrid to Skopje, where do I cross into albania?
Do I need to formally cross borders or can I just hike across?
Depends what passport you have!
