Alone in Serbia, freezing in Bulgaria - Hiking the Kom Emine Trail - Thru-hike Europe LOG#31

  • Crossing Eastern Serbia in autumn... Well, maybe not the best time to discover those abandoned villages and deserted area. The humid season can bring a specific charm to a place but we must say that it wasn't really the case here. Leafless trees, dark sky, mud everywhere... But that's how it is. We tried to make the most of our hike there anyway. We crossed beautiful places like the lake Zavojsko, the canyon Rosomac, the vodopad Bigar, the gorgeous mountains of the Stara Planina, like the Babin Zub.
    After those 10 days in Serbia, we went back to Bulgaria through one of the most special places of the trip: Belogradchik! From there, we started to hike on the Kom Emine, on the crests of the Great Balkan mountain range. The temperature was crazy low, probably the coldest of the trip but it made our hike there just even more fantastic. We climbed on the Botev Peak and other around before meeting with our latest guest: Aleksandar from Slovenia.

    Another wonderful story with great filming of the rugged scenery and the beautiful people who welcomed you. You must be looking forward to the comfort of Turkey, but will have mixed feelings when your hike has ended. For me, just a follower, the end of your great adventure with it’s cause, will be a mixture of admiration and sadness. Safe travelling Marie and Nils.

    Kom -Emine is entirely in Bulgaria. it is the longest trail in Bulgaria, and one of the most famous. it does not start in eastern serbia. You should be clear about this. also, you chose the months with the most capricious,weather in the mountains...November, December, so it is normal that it is not amazing..... The Central Balkan, peak Botev, is also known for its challenging weather year-roind

    • @FurtherStories
      @FurtherStories  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello. I think there's no confusion in the video about the Kom-Emine starting on Kom and finishing in...Emine! 😁
      Also, I don't know if you know what we are doing with this project but we did not "choose" those months to be here, we are walking for two years, so we visited some places in summer and some others in autumn, winter and spring! There's no other way to do it! 😉

    • @FurtherStories
      @FurtherStories  Před 4 lety +1

      And maybe with a double look at the video you will understand we are talking first about the Stara Planina, in other words the Balkan mountain range or the great balkan as it has many names depending on the countries naming it. Then we start talking about the Kom Emine.
      Have a great evening!
