My man was just getting out of prison when we met. He was far from pleasant in the beginning. Depression, institutionalized, had plenty hurt & anger… it was really hard for me to penetrate him at first. He was so broken post prison. But I wasn’t perfect either, so I decided to stick around and love him. A few months later, I found out I was pregnant. He adored the idea of having a child together & I gave him hell because I felt like I did not know him well enough. I decided to keep the baby & just pray about the outcome between us. We have done nothing but grow stronger. We have gotten into the church, and he asked me to marry him. I know several women who went through the same thing & did not get so lucky.

I just started messaging a guy on JPay I found from a prison pen pal website. We have a real nice vibe happening. Hasn’t ever asked me for money and on the contrary he’s using his own money to call me. I’m only taking care of my stamps. He doesn’t even want me to pay for a reply. He seems like a real good person. And he seems rehabilitated. Comes out in 9 months. Not going to lie, I’m excited about him. Im in FL he’s in Idaho. Maybe he can come here one day.

I’m also talking to a man that’s locked up but his sentence is 45 years. He’s only served 16. I wouldn’t be able to see him until we are in our early 60s.

Be careful when you're meeting someone while incarcerated (MWI). You REALLY don't know them until they get out. Keep in mind, when they get out of prison they don't have anything...in most cases, a place to live. Also, if they're on parole then that's even more stressful. They NEED someone to take care of them. Just something to think about.

To all the people out there don't do any crimes, it's not worth to spend your time in here, no money on earth can buy the time back. If you struggle, work on yourself, find solutions, there's always a solution for every problem. Writing this out of a prison cell.

On a relationship with someone who is incarcerated. Don't open a joint savings account, don't co-sign for a loan, don't give them you pin number or credit card.
A free guy or prisoner can scam or use a girl....but prisoners tend to have THE most amazing conversational skills than free world men so a girl will fall for it more....

This is the TRUTHHHH! My "penpal" or "phonepal" I call it is the absolute best conversationalist:) The phone calls literally carry me through until the next one! We talk 2 to 4 times a say and that 20 min absolutely does it for meee!!

If your considerably older than them, not as cute or looked up their past relationships and aren't their type their most likely using you. Odd coupling could be a sign... they use beautiful women too It don't matter so if he don't treat you good that's a signnn.

My advice to anyone in this situation would be to wait a year or so after the person gets out and see if they are meeting you halfway don't uproot your life if its real that this person wants to change and be with you they will do the right thing my friend i have seen it 10000000000000000000000 times where the dude gets out does okay for maybe a month and then off and running so please dont move right away see if they are serious and go from there i know its hard because u want to be with them but PLEASE be cautious ESPECIALLY if u have kids
My ex spent the past 3 years behind bars. It gave me the opportunity to clear my head.. tbh. We wrote on and off. No, I haven't gave him money.. he put himself there so I needed to get on with my life. Now, he's about to get out and is asking me to give him another chance when he's out. I don't think it's a good idea.. 🤔 He couldn't commit prior to his incarceration now he wants me back. I understand why he would though. I was the woman who loved him more than myself. That had to change in me.. I have always loved him but he didn't reciprocate then. He will have a lot to prove before walking up into my world.
Girl If your not feeling good about it then probably dont do it. My ex is in and out of prison and we were always off and on bc I believed his bs and I to loved him more then anything he always cheated on me left me for pretty much anything that seemed better but ended up down falling every time even after promising me he would be good and stop his shit. He betrayed our children and I for the street life and other females it was truely hard for me and still is but you have to love yourself and move on somehow. It could still work out but yea he would have alot to prove to you and etc. Sorry your going through this ❤

I feel like if you have concerns and feel the need for advice because you're unsure... You already have your answer. I've been in that situation and my my doubts were right. Now I found my best friend and we trust each other so much and we know everything about one another. I don't have any doubts.
But I am a person that is extremely intuitive. So I don't wanna say a person can't be honest with someone who has doubts but it works for me.

Luka.Ayumi Exactly. The fact she's asking isn't a good sign. I'm intuitive too and have been locked up so know how it is. The reality of someone coming home is different and it's a huge adjustment. And yeah when you know, you know.
I really hope you grow to mature and learn loyalty is not staying with someone who has a habit of not staying loyal to themselves. Being a “ride or die” is sophomoric and not something you should be praising yourself for. Have more respect for yourself.

let me tell you from experience My ex Husband did 7 years in prison and let me tell you it is not an easy thing to do and also let me tell you they are not the same person they are in jail as what they are out of jail while he was in jail he could not be more understanding and sweet but when he got out he was hell on wheels that is why he is my ex all they really care about while they are inside is to make sure you give them what they want and need while in prison until you live with them you do not know what they are like you really should get to know them outside of prison before you comment to them see what they are like outside of jail if I had known my ex was as bad as he was out of jail ( i met him right before he went to prison we live together for a bit he was not a pen pal i met him through my cousin ) I would never have waited and waisted 7 years of my life on him for sure so please take it very very slow before you comment to anyone

My husband was so nice in jail. Now he barely speaks to me because he can't fool me I know his BS. It's easier to fool others. In jail, I was his only visitor and money provider.

Well I found some real people. One of my penpals who became my friend never asked me for anything but I sent him a litte bit money every now and then and also for a phone when we got out. He's been out for three months now and he's doing really good. He's still reaching out to me and says thank you every single time. I really appreciate him and he appreciates me. And he has always been very respectful towards my relationship with my fiancé. :)
He was always very honest and we had some nice conversations in our letters. And still do now.

You also gotta ask the question (about making a lover relationship with an inmate): Are they kind? What personality do they have outside of prison walls, letters,& calls?? Is the inmate someone who has a temper?
You can't see their true personality thru letters whether they're smooth or not.
You have no clue about their "true" real life, putside personality. You do not want to uproot your entire life to move to a new country and risk EVERYTHING for a person who truely may(no joke) Have demons(like Joe said), which could include ANYTHING UNDER THE SUN. ...But...BUT....what if they happen to have an uncontrollable temper and hurt you...or ritualistically abuse you..even threaten to or almost kill you at the boiling point??! You've got to get smart , Sugar (whomever you are), & think about the Mr Hyde that YOU WILL come to know, not the Dr.Jeckyl you've met already!!!!!

Im a big fan since 2 years, never thought it’s ever going to end like this but I’m getting ready for my first prison sentence.

I chose to write someone in prison, I picked a lifer to be company for them if they want to write me back that's fine if they don't that's fine too. I was just trying to be friendly to help them pass their time.

I literally did move states to be with my incarcerated man. We have been us for five years now. Our bond only grows stronger. People can change. I do understand the adjustments that will be needed upon his release. We both want this so we will do the work that it takes. My free advice that no one asked for is.... Follow your heart but take your brain with you. Much love to all.

But we’ve stayed close, and I truly believed in love, this entire time. Note that he’s coming home, it’s to someone new. Coming to terms with it has been very difficult. Keep your head up and I also stood by a man who I was seeing before he got locked up for 5 years and I was his biggest support system and when he was released he didn’t want anything to do with me 🥲it’s been 17 years since this happened and I still cry myself to sleep sometimes. I knew my girl for 11 months before she was finally sentenced and self reported. We are going on 9 months together, and she’s gotta serve 2 years and 8 months. With good time, and FSA credits, she will probably be in there for 19 months. Maybe sooner if she’s eligible for home confinement or early release to a halfway house. I’m extremely fortunate to only live two hours away and can visit every weekend. This is still so fucking hard though. It kills me and I miss her so much…

What ever you do girl, PLEASE do not up route your life. Take Joes advice take it slow visit a few times first. Especially if he was using trust me when I tell you some will be only taking advantage of you... Watch for warning signs biggest one is money, if you’re always going into you pocket for him that isn’t a good one.....

I have had a few prison pen pals and they were very interesting but then again I always went for those who had very long sentences or were in for life just to to give them a sense of hope.

You don’t know people on Tinder or any other places like that and some of the people you could meet on there could be worse than prisoners and people have been killed and stuff using them apps so technically writing to a prisoner is safer if you don’t tell them personal stuff about yourself.

I'm confused on what to do with my inmate. I knew him before jail and was messed up about him but felt like the feelings weren't mutual so I ghosted him for 10 months just to randomly look up his personal info while back ground checking someone else for a friend and seen he was in jail. Wrote him to make sure he was straight and the man told me everything I wanted to hear. But I'm aware of the prison blues. You know they'll say anything he didn't expect me to be one to of wrote him and all. .but we talk everyday since. And now I feel my heart is open again...and I have a horrible soul tie I fein the helle out of him. His voice our conversations reminiscing old moments etc. I don't want to get hurt again. But I'm so messed up about dude I'd do the whole bid with him .... ya know? True love for me idk for him...I need to go and leave him alone.

knight rider you know, mistakes are often based and the circumstances. People can’t do anything about the situation they were born in. Not saying it’s ok! But! I don’t judge. ( I’m not talking about pedophiles or murder ). Joe is the perfect example. I will never regret texting my penpal. He really a good one tho. A beautiful soul who was young and stupid. Hopefully I can motivate him to change his life. If not, then he missed his chance of a good life.
