    story 2, I don't think the guy was harassing OP because she was a woman, but because HE was the one setting off the fireworks, and he knew it, felt attacked by it, and wanted to attack back.

    Story 1: Yeah, bully that one guy who knows how to do their job. What is this? High School? Hope the old team is proud of that eight figure loss just because they wanted to be dicks. The manager was surprisingly chill with OP not coming back though, this shows the bullying is very severe and he knew about it.

    • @mitchverr9330
      @mitchverr9330 Před 8 měsíci

      Sad to say but its extremely common to happen in a lot of companies because its very hard to prove bullying. Yeah you can sue, but you have to prove the actions took place, that they have fabricated documents showing you as failing/doing anything bad, etc. They also often will bully your now ex-coworkers into signing documents stating you are the bully/bad guy.
      99/100 times its better financially for the company to bully somebody out vs giving them their golden chute so to speak and nobody thinks they will be that 1 in 100 that just dun goofed it.

    I never understand companys who expect everything to be smooth sailing after throwing away their most important part. Its like a phone with no screen. What are the benefits of bullying one of the most imporant people int quitting? Saving a good few nickels? Because news flash: It doesn't matter how powerful you are if the company is losing 8 figures and can possibly be at risk of going under! And then, then OP left the company, they need OP so much because OP knew it all! Shocker, I know.
    I don't understand why people bully in general. Like, what benefit do you see in bullying? A sense of power? A sense of control? It doesn't make sense.
    It make even less sense when its done for a vital worker that can make 7, 8, maybe even 9 figures. "Oh! Lets bully our very important employee into quitting and replace him/her with a rookie with no training. Nothing can go wrong!" (the rookie doesn't know and causes problems) "Oh no! How could I have seen this coming! We want the employee that we bullied into quitting to return for the same pay! Its all going bad!"
    It never goes well. And companies who think that is a "normal" work enviroment need to get of their high, HIGH horse and live in the real world and not in their own little world.

    • @Robin93k
      @Robin93k Před 8 měsíci

      Being unable to understand other mentalities really isn't something to be proud about, but I still partly envy you for being incapable of understanding...
      But even bullies are not homo sentient! There isn't one reason for all of them!
      Some bullies simply enjoy watching others suffer, while some simply don't care about others at all.
      It certainly isn't about gaining a benefit for many of them.
      Though some will give you "outstanding" arguments of why it's beneficial. (From their POV)

    If you treat people like in the first story, they become protective of their work, hide information and won't share knowledge. That really adds up to work being done multiple times and almost no flexibility, but that is not visible to management.

    For the last story: granted, it is a new-ish policy in place for maybe a few months or so, but the banks that I am familiar with have actually stopped charging customers for returned items (meaning if someone else’s check bounces, then you won’t be penalized). So that kind of tells me the age of that particular story, being at least a month or so old, and if it’s not, then OP needs a new bank. lol. Yay for getting 12 bucks back, but considering it’s not your fault their check bounced, you shouldn’t have to pay anything, and considering sometimes it’s near impossible to get that $12 back from the maker of the check that NSF’d, it’s best to just bank somewhere that won’t charge you those fees in the first place.

    • @bskinner22rianna

      This bank charged service fees too, so fixed or low income people definitely lost a lot just from fees alone 😫

    There needs to be like live stress tests for managers to see if they know what they're doing and to oust the stupid assholes. One, it'd mean people going on a power trip get denied and two, companies are less at risk at basically being kneecapped because they got rid of someone that was basically the pillar of company.

      There’s a way without even having to give a managerial position.
      1. Among a group of people with the same low-level job, give someone reliable the responsibly of opening and closing the store along with a small pay bump.
      2. See how they act to the rest of their coworkers.
      3. Done.
      There are other variations to this, but it all relies on seeing how someone acts when they get a little bit of power.

    Story 2: This isn't pro-revenge, this is nuclear revenge. The difference is in size of damage, intention, and legality. What OP did is technically libel, thus not exactly legal. And while OP was only intending it to cause the amount of damage it did, she did intend to imply he was cheating. It's easy to say "It would have been so much cheaper to just not screw the person", but that's the thing. It generally isn't. Wage theft and other forms of corporate theft generally work on the principle that when you screw millions of people out of a little bit of money each, you walk away with billions, but each individual person lost so little that it's not worth the time or money for them to actually fight and win the case.
    This is why corporations are so against things like unions and class action lawsuits - mechanisms where those millions of people who got screwed for a little bit can get together and share the cost of fighting back against the corporation, so that the effort it takes to recoup their losses isn't excessive compared to the expected compensation.
    For every guy on reddit who's like "My company unfairly fired me so I cost them a million dollars", there's another thousand people out there who just took the loss, moved on, and their companies are walking away with billions in unearned profits.

    First story. I got bullied out of my last job by management. I was there for 3 and a half years. Never late. Rarely called in. Then one day I get told I have a meeting with my boss the following week. Thinking it was something that could be cleared up quickly I didn't consider it a big deal. I go to the meeting and my boss, the admin, and the staffing director were all there. They told me they were putting me on leave and told me to sign a document saying I understood why. I was shellshocked and signed without thinking. They went on to accuse me of all sorts of stuff that wasn't true. Also nearly everything was vague accusations except for two small incidents (I worked at an assisted living facility as a cook, one time the fries weren't cooked right, and the other time I didn't cover some sandwiches before putting them in the fridge (I had to run to the other building to help so it was a last minute panic thing)) they also accused me of not doing the dishes which was an issue that had come up before and had been resolved (coworker accused me of this and then it came to light that it was the third shift fucking with the kitchen, and she never apologized and hated me after that cause she made herself look incompetent). Anyways after all this where I barely got a word in the admin said I was off for a week, during which I was expected to write them a letter saying everything I'd done wrong and how I'd fix it (I was 29 at the time, not a teenager). So I went on leave for a week and the first day I was back I turned in the letter only for it to be ignored for two days. So I figured they were just screwing with me at this point so that night I sent in an immediate resignation to the admin. Told her she and the others had made me feel unwelcome and that I'd seen my boss had already started giving my hours away so there was no point in me continuing my time there. I was willing to work the two weeks notice if they needed me but otherwise I was done. The admin sent me a message the next day saying I was terminated. During my leave I had fought to get a copy of the document they made me sign as there was a load of bs on there that they'd made up. And I also was in contact with my coworkers all of which said the whole thing was bs and I was the best cook there. None of them had complained about me like management had claimed. I also had realized that wanted me out badly enough to lie (though I'll never understand what I did to deserve this other than the boss wanting her daughter to take my position (which funnily enough blew up in her face lol)) so I had done interviews and immediately gotten another job. Heard after I left that my manager had gone around crying about how I'd quit out of nowhere and refused to do my two weeks notice. I had made sure she got a copy of the email I sent to the admin. So she was just bullshitting. Too bad everyone already hated her at that point so no one believed a word she said. Now I'm working the same type of work at a different facility that's way better and actually pays me a good amount/treats me with respect. I ended up way better off. So fuck you to the management at my old job. You fucked up and lost a great employee

    I’ve got some of those neighbors who set off fireworks for days before, after and during any firework friendly holiday. Christmas, New Years, 4th of July and Diwali are just a sea of colors and explosions late into the night. I have no idea what their fireworks budget is but it’s probably more than a good chunk of Americans make in a year.

    For story 1, OP should submit a complaint to the NLRB and EEOC about constructive discharge/dismissal. They'd need documentation, of course, but constructive discharge (that is, the working conditions were so intolerable that a reasonable person in the employee’s position would have felt compelled to resign) is unlawful in at least 31 states, and the employer could get into a looooooooot of trouble for it.

    The math in the last story doesn't, well, add up. The guy says he was owed triple the security deposit for the delay (which I've seen in numerous jurisdictions), so $5,400. Then, suddenly, he's happy with $1800? (even saying at one point, $200 a month, it'll be paid at the end of the year). Nope, does not compute.

    I'm not sure if this story belongs here but I'll start here: when I was In high-school boys and/or girls would vape in the bathrooms (standard no smoking or vaping in school) and hide their vapes in the ceiling and I guess at one point the school got revenge as a school police officer went into the bathroom (he went into the boys bathroom from what I was told) and removed a ceiling tile and down came 26-46~ (I don't know the precise number but take your guess) different vapes and the officer immediately confiscated them all

    Story 2: excuse me while I give a standing ovation to OP for creating the perfect storm and then leaving on vacation. Also, I'm pretty sure he was the one setting off the fireworks, because he wouldn't have said anything otherwhise.

    i don't understand why the people being bullied by their workplaces in order to force them to quit, don't just, force their workplace to fire them? like, they're being harassed, so why don't they just stop working or start performing poorly? why not pull out a camera and record the harassment obviously, like holding the camera right in their face? like, yes, look for another job, but why quit when you can get that sweet severance pay and possibly get a lawsuit payout too?

    • @thetruth1816

    I don't really use checks much, what is the significance of them sending a cashier check instead of a regular check in terms of making sure the check doesn't bounce?

    • @blueodis
      @blueodis Před 8 měsíci

      Not positive, but I believe a cashiers check is already backed with money. A check is like a credit card (you pay the money at a later time) where a cashiers check is like a preloaded gift card (money was already paid and put on the card)
