Love the guides and online matches you post man you’ve been doing the Ram Fam justice teaching us tech and helping us better understand Ramlethal & the various game plans to getting better. U got a fan in me forever 👍🏼
Something I've noted in practice is that it's more consistent (at least for me) to mash 2k after you get a daoro juggle. There were issues with extremely high launches where the kick would whiff if done too early, but it seems like mashing 2k seemed to catch them more consistently, leaving them lower to the ground so you can hit both swords and keep them low enough to wall break them easily.
I hard agree with point #1. Soul Calibur 2 was my first real fighting game I played. I think I was like… maybe 10 when that came out? I didn’t have a fighting game community, friends, or anybody who knew anything. So going in blind, I just basically learned how to play the game from feelings. This move can link into that move cool now I have a two hit combo. Maybe a few play sessions later I’d find out that another move links into the two hit combo I learned earlier. I’d play against some computer that likes to do X kind of play style maybe long range pokes. I’d find the move that beats long range pokes and spam it. Now I have that muscle memory and, wouldn’t you know it, I later learn you can combo from that move. Now I have the muscle memory and practice of beating pokes AND the knowledge it combos. I slowly learned what moves to use in neutral, what moves I had that were safe on block, what moves were tricky for people to block etc. By the time Soul Calibur 5 came out and I actually started looking at combo videos, I was destroying regular online matches. Didn’t even need notation because every move was so engrained in my mind I could see the move happen on screen in real time and know the exact sequence of button presses I needed. I didn’t do that when FighterZ came out, and my life was miserable. I went straight to combo videos and learning combos. Didn’t look at frame data or play around with throwing moves out and seeing what gets punished on block, what’s safe on block, what a moves range was or anything. I could land GO1 Gohan leg loops while simultaneously losing to people who literally only used auto combo. Learn. The. Game. Just play the game even if you lose a bunch and lose ranking levels. It’s so much better starting out learning when to do certain moves in neutral or during pressure than it is to worry about how to combo. Like 5K into 2D into Dauro is a great combo starter. Instead of trying to land as many combos as possible, I’m just trying to land as many 5K into 2D as possible. Throw out the move, see where it works, see what range it leads into 2D. I know there are alternative things to do if you hit 5K at longer range, but I’m not even worried about that yet. If you never learn what 5K range does and does not lead into 2D, you’ll never truly know when you land a 5K what your next move should be unless it’s point blank. TL;DR: go into training mode, learn what each individual move does, learn what options it has for combos (like kicks go into dust or specials) don’t look up a real combo guide until you play enough to be able to use any move at any time without thinking. If you focus on learning basic stuff like move range and some basic easy to figure out two hit combos, you will easily be able to learn real combos while not losing to basic level neutral situations.
This is great. This really makes me more confident in Ram and TBH in the game. Following combos mindlessly is what i was trying to do initially but I feel like this makes much more sense and also makes your gameplan during games alot easier and you can focus on the match more. Thanks again for another great vid!

Hey I found a way easier way to do that max range fS > 5H conversion (if you have dash and RC bound to a macro). You can use 623P > early dash PRC by plinking the dash button into the RC button to move yourself forward really far and make the 5K > 6H link much easier. So the full string would be: fS > 5H > 623P > early dash PRC (plink dash into RC) > 5K > 6H > 236H > 236S > 214H

Love your guides, I'm improving a lot with Ram thanks to you! One question though: I've noticed that when you start the basic juggle combo with close slash, you can use 2HS instead of 2D to combo into the Dauro juggle. Is there a reason to specifically use 2D? 2HS seems to launch them higher which makes combos a bit easier to me, especially when ending with the rekka since they won't be as close to the ground so the timing isn't as strict
Thank you for by far the best Ram vids. Slowdowns and timestamps are something i don't know why others don't do. I struggle on defense against very plus characters like Gio and wondering if you could please do a video on defence and moving from defence to attack. Question, and this may have been something you answered in your video on pressure using the BRC. Whats the benefit to using the BRC when jumping in to mix your opponent? Like is the time slow making it that much harder for your opponent to guess whether you go high or low or would a regular jump/empty jump with no BRC used be just as powerful. Hope the question makes sense.
BRC gives you more slowdown against your opponent so you can have longer pressure strings, also let's you have better confirms. Also well timed BRCs will let you set up safe jumps on opponent's wake up
hey, what's your opinion on going 2S into 2HS then Dauro? You can then combo with 5k into 6HS and do the usual combo string. 2S is a low attack so it can catch people off guard. Probably slow recovery though. Also, you can also do close S, then far S into Dauro for more combo opportunities, or 5S, 5HS into Dauro. That's what I found how in the training room (by mistake). A good combo starter that is easy to pull off. I think you do need to RC to keep the combo going though.
