I'm assuming the time slow of the purple is less than the blue? Also I did not know the bubble can hit them in their recovery is that only blue or purple also?

You can utilize the dash command to slide rc. Down and dash, etc. forward slide rc u can just press dash then rc. Do you think double tapping a cardinal direction is more precise?

Exactly! He basically lays out the basic mechanics for us and explains it in a unique way. While also letting us take it from there to find our own playstyle and combos.
my Guilty Gear knowledge only extends to walking forward.
Facts..alot of the guides I've seen so far assume you're already a pro especially combo videos that use fighting game lingo

This is the type of stuff that would take me AGES to figure out on my own. If I can convince my friends to try Strive, I know where to send them when they eventually, but inevitably ask "wtf does this red circle do?"
Best way is to get a house session going, don't worry ABOUT Showing them RC, if the Graphics and move set can't get them hooked nothing will

@@Shadowserpant00 The missions exist but how many people actually play them all? I stopped after movement and combo basics and just watched youtube tutorials since it takes a 5th of the time. I only recently went back and did it for the achievement.
I mean yea this game is usually set for people that are already into fighting games. Recommend the beginners for storm 4 or dbfz
That Potemkin's roman cancel the dash to the big grab is the scariest thing I've ever see.
The level of expression that the RC system allows for in Strive is insane. I have a feeling the high levels of play will be all about who can make the most of their meter consistently.

Holy shit these tutorials are actually amazing. Your deadass just the IzawSmash of GG with how in-depth, clear and well scripted your guides are. This helped me IMMENSELY. As I beginner to GG and novice to traditional fighting game I really appreciated this.
I only briefly glanced at matches for past Guilty Gear games, and I can tell this game's Roman Cancels were adjusted to be a lot more beginner friendly.
Now I might be able to learn it lol
more friendly execution wise, but strive RC's are far more in depth than any of the older GG games ever were.

I love watching your tutorials. I cannot afford to buy this game and it also seems way to complicated for me, but I love watching these tutorials just so I can better understand the mechanics for when I watch gameplay videos and tournaments in the near future.
Strive isn't that complicated compared to past titles imo. The game has a basic tutorial and a mission mode where you can essentially go through an in depth training guide with your character of choice. Just my experience playing GG1 and doing the basic missions was enough for the game to rank me as a 6th floor player (out of 10, basically putting me above half the playerbase after an hour of playing...somehow lol)
If you can get it on sale someday its definitely newcomer friendly.
@@zeroattentiongaming820 I have since borrowed it from my library as my library has that option and I learned it isn't that hard. It's actually really easy to get into and made it to floor 9 in a week's span.

I'm amazed with how much depth on Strive's roman cancel has yet to be discovered! I've seen a a Potemkin start off an anti air hitcomfirm into a blue RC for a much stronger combo than the usual Red RC.
I like that when you are giving tips on new tech you also mention when the previous tech you mentioned comes into play with the new stuff. Really helps cement the old stuff in my brain and lets me see how it works more times in the vid.
I said this in the first beta, the new way Roman Cancels work is awesome. Exploring this is going to be insane.

@@tajaikeaton6388 they are working on adding crossplay, so it doesn't really matter and because of rollback you can keep playing even if the population declines.
@@tajaikeaton6388 i have seen many people waiting for the pc version. So i think it will be big enough. not as much as the ps4/ps5 though. arcsys said thet they are looking into crossplay.

I am waiting for it as well, and I am glad I am not the only one waiting. it helps me feel less like I am missing out. Honestly, I think PC play will be more interesting because not having to hold a controller frees up your fingers so you can use them to execute the combos and moves you need to do. I have a feeling when I start playing I will get flashbacks of my childhood when I remember how it felt playing Mortal Combat or street fighter in the old arcades in the 90’s.

I would also like to add that you can use BRC to help you punish moves if you were close enough when you jumped over them like Sol's Gun Flame. Other than that, very comprehensive guide!
Seems like RC was a huge emphasis for strive moreso than any other game in the series. I often wonder if the characters were simplified just to force players to get comfortable with using RC as the gateway to crazy stuff. Love the video btw

I've played GG off and on with someone who basically only plays Sol. His version of "helping" me figure this stuff out is to just tell me to watch pros and copy them until I figure it out, or go into the game's combo training mode. He's not a great teacher, obviously, so I just kinda... ignored RCs entirely.
Something like this is super helpful compared to the baptism by fire I'm used to getting.

Thank you. When I was playing the beta I was struggling to understand how to use these outside of Red Roman cancel for easy hit confirms or confirms off of moves that I normally can’t combo off of.

You can RC drift in non-cardinal directions, using the dash macro + diagonal.

Naturally more vids and guides coming in the future too! Right now working on more generalized stuff as I slowly work away in the background getting character specific stuff ready. Also streams are becoming regular again so make sure to check out the twitch channel every now and then! This week will be doing watch-alongs with many of the e3 events, sneak in a strive stream or two, and starting next week streams should be on a regular schedule again(not sure days yet, will update) with plenty of strive gameplay!

Hey roofle, great video, the explanations were super clear ! Just a little remark, when you activate the input history, could you also display the virtual controller ? I find it way easier to follow than the input history, especially as a fighting game beginner. Again, really nice content !

been doing the dash Roman cancel cancel combo in the mission for a hour and I've almost completed it, so I'm feeling pretty good, even though I'm failing I'm still so excited that I'm right on thw edge of victory
I'm relatively new to guilty gear only playing the first two games when I was a kid and only playing revelations in my teenage years. I never took it super seriously but it looks like a lot of fun and this video seriously helped. Me and my brother are trying to get super into it.

I think my main problem with the game right now is I'm unsure of my options. When I'm getting pressured in the corner, I'm not exactly sure what to do besides try to do something quick after I block. I can RC and stuff as well but I'm not sure what the most optimal option is depending on the situation.
Besides that, after I get out the corner I'm unsure of how to follow up... I usually get out of the corner then get beat up or play defensive again 😂 I feel like I just have to get used to my character and know what's plus on block and stuff so I know what to do on certain situations (I play Ramlethal). If anyone has got tips on what to do on defense, please let me know!
I watched videos of GG Strive this week. Because of that, the CZcams algorithms made me listen again to GGAC songs (which I liked). Which brought even more videos on GG Strive. I even understand the "Typhoon Behemoth" thing now. Since I was bad at GG, I sweared to myself never to play again. And here I am watching Roman cancels features. I do not even have the game. What am I doing ? Love ur vid by the way. It looks like everything is possible
