The Tragic Story of a Homeless Football Club

- I believe Kirkintilloch Rob Roy are the longest running homeless football club in Scotland. A lot of teams groundshare, but Rob Roy used to have their own classic non league stadium. They sold it for housing, were promised a new stadium and have been without one for a full decade now!

Apart from new clubs who have never had their own home, are there any other clubs who have been homeless as long as Kirkintilloch Rob Roy???
Looks a decent bloke him 👌
east stirlingshire they have been homeless since 2008 they now paly there games at falkirk
Romford haven't had a home for a while but have now taken over East Thurrock's old ground 🤔
Truro spring to mind but I belive they are moving back next season. Cambridge City havn't played in Cambridge for about 10 years.
@@21hazza Truro is that Devon
Sam still out here making the best content.
Could put him in an empty room and he’d still manage to make a football video interesting enough to watch 😂
You're going to have to visit this new ground in Kirkintilloch and try and find out what is going on and maybe show everyone what this new ground is like and progress this story
Love the passion scottish fans have for their clubs, especially the smaller clubs. It's in the blood, love it! Keep up the great work, from a Bradford fan CTID
Kirky Rob Roy fan here, thank you so much for bringing light to our club, remember going weekly to the old adamslie with my dad, we've got a big final at broadwood stadium against East Kilbride next month you should get yourself to that one!
Brilliant video Sam - and so grateful to you for using your platform to publicise the situation we find our football club in. We are the highest ranked and one of (if not) the oldest men’s team in East Dunbartonshire Council - sadly our local officials don’t recognise our achievements and heritage. Hope I get to catch up with you at an actual Rob Roy home game soon. All the best. ❤️🖤 #MonTheRoy
Incredible what they club have achieved in ten years given its circumstances.
Cup win .
Cup finals including one this season against EK.
Every season in West Premier.
Numerous stints at the top of the West premier.
Shame such a historic famous old club like The Rabs have been treated so badly.
Southbank Stadium is the new purpose built facility and so far there has only been 1 game played there. That was a Scottish Junior Cup tie between Rossvale and Darvel.
He says that near the end of the video.
Cray Wandererers of the Ryman League have been groundsharing at Bromley FC for 25 years, but they will be moving into their new Flamingo Park ground for the start of next season
Have seen the signpost to Kirkie many times heading to Dundee. Had no idea that their situation was so bad a great pity. Another great video.
Interesting parallel with Gloucester City in England, who were homeless for just over 13 years (July 2007 - December 2020). The circumstances were slightly different in that their home ground was flooded, to a depth of more than six feet (a little more than a light shower that could be mopped up), and they spent the intervening years ground sharing with a variety of clubs around the area. There were questions whether they would ever return to their home ground, or even survive as a club, but they raised the ground to make it floodproof and rebuilt their stadium. Gloucester is a city that is known for its rugby, but it does have a football team too, sadly this season after more than a decade of defying the odds they were relegated from the National League North.
As a Celtic supporter of 53 years, I have never seen that picture of Stevie Chalmers scoring the winner in The European Cup. Thanks Sam. Mon the Rob Roy.
Good video. You should have went to the new stadium. Terrible what the council have done.
Another great video of a club i never knew , alway enjoy your content cheers From Tasmania
Thank you!
Another fascinating video Sam. Love the wee dug 😍
if councils smell a crowd they want tax
That was a very interesting one Sam . I for one didn’t know that they didn’t have their own stadium. It’s a real shame for them but sometimes the council make things over difficult but as you said we don’t know all the details
Glad you made it to the Rabs. A few years back when I requested a visit to the Rob Roy, I never imagined we would still be playing in Cumbernauld. As mentioned the ground should never have been sold in the first place, and now it is in the hands of incompetent council officials and want to be politicians. another note for the old firm was that, apart from Celtics Stevie Chalmers, George Young Rangers iconic club captain also play for the Rabs. I hope to see you in Kirkintilloch when we get back home. Mon the Roy...
great video bro , the first video i saw from your chanell was the Belenenses video , its my heart club , when will you come to portugal again? big hug!
Saw the most amazing junior cup tie at KRR V Bo'ness Utd, Rob Roy had battered us all day but only had a 2 goal lead with 5 minutes to go,then we made it 2-1,then in 90 minutes we make it 2-2,and while we were celebrating getting a replay, the Krr keeper passed the ball to one of our guys to put it away in the corner for an unbelievable 3-2 triumph.
On the Sunday on pie and bovril,a KRR fan had posted a poli e warning, regarding the theft of a Scottish cup tie, brilliant
Funnily enough after talking about canoeing between grounds in your Camelon video, the new stadium in Kirkintilloch is also right next to the canal!
Looks like a good place ❤
It always amazes me how councils around Britain like to screw over their local football teams. For nearly 50 years, for example my team Portsmouth,we always shafted by Portsmouth City Council. Even a couple of times when we almost went out of business the council refused to help.
Just so short sighted. People from say Newcastle, Sunderland and Carlisle aren't going to come down to Portsmouth in mid-winter but for any other reason but a league or cup football match. They then spend money near the ground on food, drink, transport etc and the local economy benefits.
Imagine how that would help Kirkintilloch?! Councils have a lot to answer for!
Just happened to Gateshead… denied promotion due to council assurance of the main stadium
I enjoyed your little helper 🐶
didn't expect to see Cumbernauld in one of your vids where most of my Scottish Family live.
Great video why didn't you visit there new ground while making the video about the club
Great vlog
Always intresting to learn about clubs named after real people. Should give Lech Poznan or Botev Plovdiv a visit
❤
Cheers Steve!
How do Garry boy, how’s things in Cambridge ! You stayed up I think 👍 Good lad. Good video, Liam Neesgone is an American banana 👍
Thanks
Very interesting content, but at the same time I feel blue with this homeless club😢
Legend 😂❤❤ keep up coming sam that you're dog
have been told its the council demanding a huge cut of kirks income at the new stadium, typical greedy councils screwing football clubs
Wouldn't be a surprise, but then you can tell they've splashed some cash building it in the first place. They're gonna want some of it back
Councils are ridiculously strapped for cash and they're trying to provide essential services like social work, social care and schools. You can't blame them for trying to maximise income.
@@gordon1545
The council (EDC) have been blowing cash on useless rubbish for an absolute age tbh. The councils useless 🤷
Shouldn't even be down to the council though, Rob Roy had a big cheque from the developer that bought Adamslie.
Sold the ground and any suitable ground to buys value is also high because it's a sought after area for housing (why they bought it).
Daft idea to sell it in the first place
Can you do a vlog on Inverness Citadel FC they are an old club that used to be in Inverness.
Kilsyth rangers would have been a closer choice than up Cumbernauld village
The club asked Kilsyth if they could ground share Kilsyth asked for £6000 and Rob Roy to maintain the ground.
sold the ground ie land .wheres the money .roy boy ultras should do some digging .
Everybody loads up Football Manager after watching this video.
Hi Sam,
My local team Rosyth FC folded this year due to almost the situation of KRR. I lost my club 💔.
I messaged you multiple times to cover the story but got no reply which is understandable you are a busy and successful man ♥️.
As you may be aware due to numerous issues around finding a new home after the Council kicked us out for a supermarket that still has not happened.
With the platform you have, you may be able to spread our story and would make a good video if you wish to do so.
I am lost without the club in the town. If you ever decide the proceed with subject of the club, I am happy to give you some background.
With Best Wishes,
Lewis ⚽.
Clyde havent played in Glasgow for 25 years
As the guy said.......
"Should never have sold Adamslie".
Got some cash from a developer.
Inflations ate some of it.
Heard they blew some of it as well.
I wonder whats left??
Someone will have ran off with it. It's always the case.
@@itellyouwhy6957 No, that absolutely didn't happen, and you shouldn't throw cheap insults and accusations about real, ordinary people who might read them around like this. You should delete your reply. The truth is they still have all the money from selling the ground, but the spent the money from selling the social club on the playing side.
@@itellyouwhy6957
Heard they blew some of it, like another commenter says, doing work trying to see if they could build on well known flood spots.
And probably frittered plenty away, while values locally to buy has went through the roof.
Such a shame what happened to Rob Roy. Adamslie was a superb ground. Been a long time sharing with Cumbernauld.
*Cumbernauld United, formed 1964, Kenny Dalglish played for them as a 17 year old. Guys Meadow is a belter but not Rob Roy's home
Adamslie looked unreal! Shame I never got to go
Played there as a youth the ground was a dump the changing rooms had a bath slapped bang in the middle of if it
Scottish football is a joke.😮
How could Buckie thistle win the League and not be able to play east kilbride fc. 😅
east kilbride fc will most likely play fan owned Clyde and progress.
This story reminds of of Kingstonian here in south west London who former ground is sold to Chelsea and they only use this for their women’s team.
They should let Kingstonian play there on Saturday’s.
Class video mate , please do a follow up video on the scandle involving the stadium and hopefully it gets some attention , need all the help we can get moan eh fuckin rabs
Feckin tragic
got photo's of new ground its a waste
boston terrier?
Correct! 🐶
Greed from a building company, Dawn Homes helped Rob Roy ❤ or we would have folded long ago.
