Imagine making a show about a witcher then making him the 6th most important character
A writer literally admitted that Ciri is the main character. There’s no denying it
Tbh, that's how things are in later books.
@@exhostosis "The Tower of the Swallow" and "The Lady of the Lake" are mostly Ciri centric, but "Baptism of Fire", which should be Season 4, is not.
Because they want ur attention without giving you what u want or deserve and by this it becomes garbage

I love how they maroon Ciri in the desert for an entire episode covering days. And her first act of desperation is to say she is hungry...... not thirsty. These writers are absolute idiots.
You can hungry in a desert
@iamrysheem I'm guessing you've never spent any time whatsoever in a desert. You will get thirsty in a matter of minutes to hours. Vs hunger which is hours to days. Its brain dead writing. Obviously you can get hungry in a desert, if you actually comprehended my words you'd understand I wasn't making the argument that "people don't get hungry in a desert".
@@iamrysheemyes, but thirsty first, right ?
@@Chris-ob8ok i get what you were saying. The problem is its not dumb writing. The character was shown for one moment in time saying they were hungry. That doesn’t mean the character wasn’t thirsty. It means they didn’t state the obvious.

My poor Henry, I can only imagine how frustrated he must've been while shooting these scenes bound by the contract...

Tissaia wanting to redeem her actions due to her feeling guilty of Vilgefortz betrayal then the next scene has her commiting suicide, that was the dumbest shit i have seen
It's not related , but a fun point is that vilgefortz's actor last name is Jadu, which is in Farsi , and Hindi literally means magic!
For all seasons they were hyping her up she’s the strong woman when comes to magic but summoning lighten and barely killed anyone. Like you said committing suicidal was soooo odd. I thought she would have wanted her revenge.
@@yourhighnessroyalanderson3319 When Yen comforted her i was expecting Tissaia to become ruthless to Vilgefortz cause she has accepted her flaws (Tissaia) but the next scene she commits suicide, i was like "That's it?"
I would like to point out that she does commit suicide in the books, but her character is very different and the situation after thanedd coup is different (for example, yennefer is missing and presumed dead or a traitor). Tissaia feels responsible for missing the signs of what was cooking and the deaths of so many colleagues, and its clear she has lost faith in the institution and their political aims. The way it is portrayed is tragic (as suicide always is), a woman who feels cornered and guilty, who has lost her faith and most of all who is exhausted. Tired of trying and failing to build something and trying to convince people who don't want to be convinced.
Then again, she never snogged Vilgefortz in the books either...
Edit: aside from that Francesca is in the ball as a member of Aretuza when it all goes down, she opens the door for the squirrels, and this betrayal is one of the ones which hurt Tissaia the most.
@@rideatmora6179 Tissaia in the books didn't just not see the signs, she freed Vilgefortz and the other mages accused of cooperating with Nilfgaard. Which lead to the battle on Thanned. Realising her terrible mistake, she commited suicide.
When you study film making, rule number one that you should learn is: "Don't tell me, show me". If the characters constantly need to explain their relationships to one another, you are doing it wrong.

what infuriates me even more is how they butchered the elven characters so badly.

So basically all you need is 50 soldiers with magic-proof arrows and an elvish mage to destroy every single mage together. And no lightning shower or no fire storm can kill off the soldiers. Yen healed Geralt later this season and in the episode with the golden dragon from season one Yen could freeze dwarves. Mages could even cut people’s throats with a hand gesture. Why didn’t them use these powers in this battle?
Imagine if the soldiers had magic-proof shields. They would’ve wiped the mages with zero losses.

I just realized what’s really strange. Tesaja releases the magic shackles with magic so magic can effect this material. But why can’t it block the arrows then??? That makes no sense does it?

Jesus Christ, the sorceresses making origami and writing invitations *by hand* is one of the most tone-deaf, stupid things I have seen in the show so far (didn't watch season 3 myself though). It is only a minor scene but it shows once again just how fundamentally the writers misunderstand the sorceresses and their powers... They are freaking *sorceresses!* They can change their clothing with the snap of a finger, teleport across the whole realm and hurl lightning that disintegrates everything in its path... and they seriously thought they would *manually* craft stuff?
They would tell a few of the lower-rank sorceresses to handle the invitations and they would either just summon them with pure magic or at least let self-writing quills and invisible mage hands, being done with the whole matter in less than two minutes.
Man, everytime I see scenes about this show I just feel my blood pressure skyrocket. :D
Hissrich career should be over by now. Hopefully, Netflix will use the strike to cancel season 4 and 5.
That weird mute androgynous servant pisses me off to no end, so casually and effortlessly committing a double regicide with nobody the wiser. Remember how much planning, effort and risk a genius badass Witcher like Letho of Gulet had to go through to kill two Kings? And that was with the resources and assistance of Nilfgaard, the Lodge and Scoia'tael.
they did Tessa so dirty lol wtf. And the desert scene was BORING
I can't believe they stretched the desert scene to 58 mins.
I watched it for some minutes, eyes started rolling, it was taking too long to end, I thought "wait a minute, is the whole episode like this?" And then I just moved forward. Holy shit, it really was. Then I just skipped to the end. Done. Ended up doing the same thing with the last episode because nothing happened.
I skipped most of the desert scene.
i thought the hooded figure was Ciri's darker persona that wouldve made it interesting instead it was another character cameo lmao

@ViktoriiaLitvinova Didn't even watch the third season. I wasnt gonna put myself through another season of complete butchery of the books. And after all the shit they've pulled, the sheer hubris and lack of respect, their hate for foreign cultures and heritage, and the shitstorm they caused with Cleopatra, I'd rather bathe in acid than to give Netflix a bent penny ever again. I hope sincerely hope they go bankrupt before they manage to butcher anything else.
- And, knowing that they're working on a live-action adaptation series of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but already managed to make the original creators leave the project due to "creative differences" before they even started filming, makes me hope they do go bankrupt, sooner rather than later, before the world is introduced to another monstrous "adaptation" of that masterpiece.
OK so the biggest fumble for me this season was Cahir's heelturn during the coup of Thaned. Can someone explain to me if I missed something earlier in this or past seasons? It felt like it just came out of nowhere. I understood why it happened in the books, but in the show he was a loyal soilder to Emhyr and mowing down people left and right with a smile on his face right up until he caught up with Geralt and Ciri on the cliff.
Nah, just bad writing. Apparently the showrunners weren't thinking ahead to this moment when they decided to turn Cahir into a mustache twirling villain early on.
From what I could gather it seems that Emhyr forcing him to kill his "best friend" in cold blood was the straw that broke his back and made him question where his loyalties really lie.
However, the show only devoted a single scene to demonstrating his mental anguish, and considering he didn't act any differently than expected in the following scenes, it could easily be read as him simply lamenting the action and then getting back to business.
I THINK I get what they were trying to do, but it was poorly conveyed enough that honestly I'm not even certain I'm right.
SO many things bothered me about that scene. Why, if he didn't plan to hurt her, did he get off his horse and draw his sword without saying anything? Why did Geralt just stand in the background and let this man approach Ciri with weapon drawn? How did 90 pound Ciri hold up this adult man in armour over a cliff with one hand? How did Cahir block FIVE riders on horseback and keep them from just riding around him to get to Geralt and Ciri? The entire scene made no sense whatsoever.
These mages might be the dumbest group of sorcerers I've ever seen in Fantasy. Phillipa is a traitor? No punishment. The traitor is opening the door? don't stop him. The elves are rushing in. Better just stand there. Can't use any magic that actually works and they got plot armor arrows that we can't block. And of course, the most powerful sorceress in the world who summons the biggest lightning storm ever...can't beat a bubble.
the mages being useless and "the spell of last resort" not being able to penetrate basic shield spell was really underwhelming. this should have been an epic battle the whole show has been building up to, but in the end the whole brotherhood lost against 50 human attackers. this show is the biggest letdown in years.
@@matejnozar9525 like how hard would have been to write, “the bubble shield is breaking against the lightning, it’s killing people, the elf queen herself gets scorched but not killed and so the 3 survivors have to retreat carrying the queen”
6:06 it happened so quickly and was over I totally agree, Tessaia was one of my favorite characters and then she was just unceremoniously gone
she was lucky to get out of the rest of S3
My feeling exactly. Three seasons and none of these characters are sympathetic enough to care about. The one character rhat does is getting downgraded and swapped. They've sacrificed the only thing that made the show watchable.
Spot on.
Mages: we dont know this magic
proceeds to dispel it with a chant.
I guess it could have been some anti-magic ritual, but it didnt really seem like it.
I was actually optimistic because Cavil was still in S3. But they gave him the 'Thor' treatment and made him into a one-dimensional character who's entire existences is for nostalgia and to remind the audience the show is still in the Witcher universe.
When a woman asks me to reach up on a shelf and get them something they cant reach at a supermarket or a target, I tell them, “sorry its not in the source material” and walk away…
Part 2 of the season felt rushed. I was lost. Only 2 good episodes in the entire season.
I don’t know much about the video game or books but I can tell it was poorly constructed.
Yes its true, the death of lydia and rience its happen to fast and less climax.
If creating a show for modern audiences means, changing a story to be inclusive of everything except a great story telling, then Netflix nailed it. It's unfortunate that they couldn't focus first on telling a great story with great characters. It's no wonder when you look at the limited experience of those responsible for creating/writing this show. This show is an embarrassment to the books they are supposed to be inspired by. I hope the writers and actors strike never ends.
So do the executives hope too 😂
Apparently the screenwriters working on the show have gone on strike, which is surprising, because noone who watched the show would think that any screenwriter had worked on the show.

Why is the show called "The Witcher"?
who names a show after a side character?
The problem with the writing is having too many povs. It's not a bad thing. But more pov means it'll be harder to flesh out each story from each pov without having them skipping important details or pace. A skilled writer can tackle this problem and when they do, the story becomes more compelling to watch. But if it's written by a meh writer, it becomes a ball of mess like this. Lol.
too much material crammed into these 3 seasons. No writer could pull that off. They needed to develop it slowly, starting with the Witcher, like the books.
You nailed it with the shallow. I love Witcher season 1, and the production of season 3 left me wondering if they ordered some set pieces on Amazon, I am specifically thinking of the rugs on Yen and Geralt when after they hooked up, I think I have this exact rugs 🥴 I still appreciate the season but the quality when down some season 1
I still haven't recovered from Season 2 and as a result I haven't even attempted to watch season 3 I have no wish to view it. This is coming from someone that watched that awaited the first 2 seasons for months and watched them both through and through the same day they dropped.
why do you comment at all? Season 3 is awesome just watching it
Fast forward is your friend for Season 3. I worried about missing plotlines, or subtleties, but rest assured friend you can proceed without worry, There is no subtly in season 3. Lauren does not show you a story she tells it as to a small child with her character's dialogue. "You are Tissaia, you are a mother..."
And Ciri is made to walk in a desert for an entire episode. Spoiler she uses forbidden magic to save the pony that befriends her (of course they made it a unicorn).
There you can fast forward to Geralt's fight scenes now, they were exceptional. Nothing else made sense, not because it was difficult material, or obscure references. Nothing made sense because it was lazy slipshod and a vanity project by a writer and writing staff that placed themselves so far above the source material that they only returned to the source material when the story they concocted got too muddled.

Ciri wandering the desert for 40 minutes nonstop is some of the most boring tv I’ve ever seen in my life. Like two scenes from that were from the book and were good, the rest were feminist speeches. A dumb scene with Geralt watches as Yennefer hugs HIS child by law of surprise while she says destiny brought them together. What? Some good scenes few and far between, all Dijkstra scenes are good, Geralt vs Vilgefortz was perfect, but that’s hardly enough. Then there are the fat mages filling the diversity hire section.
Those sorceress are fat and I m pretty sure the assassin that killed king vizimir is transgender😂
Stopped watching the series for good after episode 3 of season 3. Won't waste any more of my time. The writing is atrocious. It's already a terrible adaptation, but even if it was an original concept, the writing is still so awful. Why didn't Geralt just kill Reince? lol
For a show called, 'The Witcher', Geralt is barely featured. Rather, the writers have been trying to recreate a pseudo-GoT style of world building and they are failing miserably. It's incredibly boring. The first season of this show should have just been Geralt going around and taking Witcher contracts and killing various monsters while meeting a few friendly faces. Nothing overarching. Instead, the show is incredibly overbearing.
Looks like Tissaia cut her wrists, the same suicide method Yen used in season 1. They probably thought it would have so much meaning.
Wait, that's emir?? I've been reading the books and they say his name a lot, but I thought it was the guy that hurt Ciri in the first season

1.The battle at Thadden really showed how hillariously inconsistent the show is.
You're telling me that about 50 archers with dimeritium tipped arrows and one decent mage can kill 2/3 of the most highly trained mages on the Continent?
And I say "about 50" because the number of Scoia'tael *kept changing* from scene to scene. There was no sense of progression because it felt like they just kept dropping like flies and infinately respawning.
And Tissaia's last resort spell basically did nothing because everyone important bubbled.
There is no rhyme or reason to the magic system

@@Springheel01 lol,
I have to agree, Henry fared as well as he did for Geralt, despite the writing. They really don't seem to like their golden goose, the character of Geralt.
I admit, I first viewed the entirety of season 3 through fanboy eyes, It's not that bad I told myself, (oh it so is!) I tried re-watching a couple of season 3 episodes to see if I was being fair, and to suffer through the unabashed misadristic, over-correction that Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich, and her 2 biggest enablers thrust upon us, made this a one time viewing experience, bad the first time, never to be repeated.

I watched it through the first time but as I rewatch it I fast-forward past Ciri's parts. I am getting tired of her, especially the last two episodes.
This is why I am looking for AI to start replacing these writers we may get more consistency and follow vision laid out.
I tried to make it through the season, but it was just painful. It seemed to be about 90% exposition with 10% action scenes, and the action scenes were rushed so they could get back to their exposition. I don't think it matters if you're a Cavill fan, or a fan of the books, the show is just bad.
Great video and points
Am I crazy or this show just looks extremely cheap? The costumes had their problems since season one (I’m looking at you, Yenn’s dress), but now everything just looks like an amateur production that barely has any budget. The lighting, the wigs, the costumes, the camera angles, and when one of these works fine, the others drag it down
I thought the same thing.
You didn't mention the song "not everything is what it seems" and how lazy and tactless it was for foreshadowing. The writers probably thought they were clever.
I don't know how the mages fought decently with a variety of spells in the battle of Sodden Hill & now the only spells they know is shield and push. WTF. Episode 6 of Season 3 of the Witcher could have been very good instead of just ok but the writers are so lazy that they just refuse to put any effort into their jobs
That scene where they are all at the dinner table and Geralt is filling their plates did it for me. Could it be more dull😖
Wait, did I hear that right, the meeting of the Conclave has absolutely nothing to do with what it was in the books? Why would they want to invite the rulers of the kingdoms? Why are they writing invitations by hand? Why are these mages even there already to write the invitations together? Isn't this supposed to be a regular meeting of the mages of the Northern realms? I don't know why I'm surprised, but wow...
And in the books we are never sure if Philippa actually was behind the murder of Vizimir, and here they just showed it like that, without guards or anything. Seems like even the writers don't care about their show anymore. At least the dryads had bows now, I think...
"At least the dryads had bows now, I think..."
Except for the one that had a crossbow...🙄
Think the best thing now is to remake series 3 with Henry Cavil as lead and director as he is the only one there that values the source material and is the reason he felt he could not continue with how far from the books it has strayed.
Smart of Nilfgard to attack the Brotherhood while all their AOE spells were on cooldown
Well they didn't want to stick to the novels that's why Henry left
The biggest issue I have and I say this as someone who has devoured books and games, I have NO FUCKING IDEA which character is which.
They've done almost no development, no reason to care.
When season first aired, a part of the audience complained about how it was "hard to follow". So Netflix in their algorithm driven way, changed the interesting narrative device in season 2. So, instead of building an audience, they dumbed out everything....
5:04 perfect timing on Bloat.
I hate Netflix for doing this. All of it. Miscast entirely except for Cavill. He had nothing to work with and nobody to work with. I think the producers and writers were dropping serious acid and downers when they pulled this shameful stunt (the whole series). You said this show is above this level. Until I spent time with the source material I didn't know how bad it really was. I wish Netflix would sell the rights because they hate the Witcher so much. Let HBO do it.
Sad how people used to compare this series into becoming the new game of thrones 🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
Why do you drag on the last syllable of every sentence?
I think four of the show's writers saw your video.
And 575 of the people who actually watched season 3.
So as ratios go 575 up ticks vs 4 down, not bad.
I feel like, the story got no where. We had all these questions from season two that weren’t addressed, so many scenes seemed like filler, that I had my hand on the “skip 10 seconds” button the entire time!
Correct me if im wrong, but isnt this tssia woman in the game ? Blind folded? Or is it the other one?
I actually cannot wait until the show or movie gets made that only serves to make fun of this dumpster fire?!
Kind of like that meet the Spartans movie with the guy who is always saying “but what about Sparta?”
nice to hear a voice of sanity
you have fireplace in front of you... need to use it to help the unicorn....no
you need to use fire magic
it's awful to watch
Streggebor holding fire in his hands: someone in the baclground,"He's tapping into fire magic!"
Everybodies reaction: Yeah, no shit we can see that😐
9:29 is SO stupid. We can see TWO archers. SIX arrows are shot from their direction. a) wasting arrows unnecessarily is stupid b) where are the other archers? and if there were more why did they not shoot other people after this? Makes not a lick of sense
This is how it was supposed to end Garrald broken at his lowest point it is the middle of the book series. Is this how you want the show to end support, Netflix OG, Witcher support Netflix
The sad part is.. The leads tried so hard to make a shit script look good..
But the script was so dumb that even the best performances seemed lackluster. 😮💨
Witcher is my best game and love the books too. So really really looked forward for this show to air..
Its just so damn sad.
These are perhaps the worst set of writers and directing I have seen in quite some time, bad enough they keep mocking the source material giving Henry the shaft. Hope he’s doing okay.
Killed Eskel and turned Julian into a flamer. No wonder Cavill left this shyt-show.
I just finished the season, I thought it was kinda good lol. Kinda sad that Henry left now
The Witcher S3, the Castration of Geralt.
To be honest, I cancelled my subscription to Netflix and bought Disney+ in between when part 1 and 2 came out
Season 3 was so bad that my sister and I dropped it half way through the first episode. It isn't even interesting enough to make fun of like Shadow and Bone. It's just boring.
Lol, season 3 is like 1 episode
I have been asking myself what are the other 7 episodes for😂
It's nothing but a sack sh*t 😅
Who knew a show about the Witcher will turn out to not being a show about the Witcher
TBH They should have just called it The Witches of The Continent
I happily didn't finish it. Boring pacing, cartoon-like characters, plot holes, and Geralt is rendered a side-character.
Dear Friend,
I made it through Star Trek Discovery, I made it through Netflix’s Lord of the Ring fiasco. Couldn’t make it through season 3 of this show.
They made Jaskier and Radovid a couple.....THEY MADE JASKIER AND RADOVID A COUPLE!!!
Such a shame - fading faster than game of thrones is truly an impressive feat
