Good idea, as an older person I detest short form garbage. it is just... agrivating. I don't take issue with it it is just the I hate it, I don't care who love it as long as I can have my 7 hour lore on obsure RPGs you can have your 0.03 seond lore flash on RPGs.
If you do the shorts, please continue doing the long videos as well! I much prefer long videos and would hate to lose them from you 😭

I prefer the long videos and dont' really watch shorts, but you can do both and get a wider audience.
Agree with this comment - you could do both, but without the focus on shorts. Long videos are the best. Instead it might be a good strategy to use shorts in order to gain more followers via the algorithm, and convert them into watching the long vids.

I am with you on not liking short videos. I am never happy that I watched one. They are just a dumb downed version of legitimate content. A kind of commercial for someone's real content. Your videos are always great. I know that you put a lot of effort and expense. They never disappoint. Thank you for all of your great quality content!

I DEFINITELY prefer long form videos, I rarely click on shorts unless they're from CZcamsrs I REALLY like
Ok, South African here... Koeksisters can be eaten days or even weeks later (assuming they last that long). The trick is, the syrup needs to be ice cold and the koeksisters very hot when you dunk them, so they soak in a lot of syrup and become completely drenched. You can then keep them in the fridge or (in our house) the freezer. They don't fully freeze because of all the syrup, so they are very good eaten straight from the freezer.

i don't love shorts for things i would actually want to try and make. i think the best outcome would be if you kept making long form vids and then chopped them up into shorts to cover the viewers who really engage with shorts and avoid longer videos. best of both worlds really. greets from canada!

Hi David! long term viewer of your content here. Short format videos would NOT discourage me from watching the long! I see content creators using the Shorts as a preview for their long format videos, uploading snippets of individual recipes and I really enjoyed those. Recycling your old long format content would be a great idea too! It wouldn't hurt for you to give Shorts a try

If you want to take the right side of things, you need to accept that moderates and other folk who are busy and may be consuming less information than you with different assumptions, and that it will take TIME for them to be convinced. If you just wanna glory in being on the right side, you'll never be effective. Build a coalition and stop being an asshole, or you die alone. That means not lording over people who eventually align with your stances, and sticking to your guns on the people yet to be convinced.

love your videos man. they got me through a really hard time in my life. ive watched you for years but i almost died April 4th, 2022 i was in a coma and breathing tube with infections that went to my heart, they told my family i wasnt going to make it but somehow i did. i made it out with one less hand but im alive. but the month stay in the ICU/hospital i binged watched your videos and i dont know what i would have done without it. i had alot on my mind. not knowing if id walk again just the whole unknowing of the situation was scary. the doctors used to ask me if i liked cooking bc i always had your videos playing i remember to one time it was the mac and cheese one and the doctor was asking about your youtube. sorry for the ramble but thank you david ❤❤

❤ thank you David for making Butter Mochi! The recipe our family used does not contain coconut. Ours has 1/3 cup melted butter, 1 box mochiko, 2 1/2 sugar, 1TSP baking powder, 3 cups milk, 5 beaten eggs and 1TSP vanilla.
Give that one a try as it is somewhat more solid.
Also I loved your message in the beginning as I have the same feelings.

@@mememan7196 1/3 cup of butter. Also I’ve made it with less sugar because I forgot to check how much we had before hand, so it even works with 2 cups if you wanted to cut down the sugar.

Prefer your longer videos
I found you back in the early stages of your tasty food videos and always come back to your channel because they have a nostalgic, comforting and personable vibe that definitely contrasts many short form content nowadays. So I really enjoy your long form videos that are 10+ minutes and I don't think I'd enjoy specifically recipe/food testing videos in a short form as much as I do your current style. But if you choose to expand into short form content I definitely support that and would continue to watch your videos! Thanks for being so consistent the past few years ❤
Shorts would not be my thing personally. I enjoy sitting down with your videos to eat a meal while watching, and the longer the video the better in my mind. You are one of the only CZcamsrs I've consistently continued watching over the past 5-6 years :)

David, I love koeksisters!! Literally my favorite treat to have around the holidays growing up in a South African household. The one suggestion I would have if you end up making them again, or to anyone else, is to have the bowl of syrup sit over some ice to keep it extra chilled, which will end up thickening the syrup.
As far as your short form dilemma, I'd say to use some older videos and convert them, because it might help bring people in. That said, I can't help but agree that the long form videos are my preferred method of viewing
I think if you don't enjoy shorts and you don't want to make them, then you shouldn't. There are lots of channels I'm subscribed to that either don't make them at all or only every ounce in a while and they seem to be doing well from what I can tell. I love your long form content and have been watching your videos for years now. I personally don't care about shorts and don't even watch them that often, even from channels I'm subscribed to.
Whatever you decide to do, just keep up the good work! Love your stuff!

The issue is more nuanced than this. Not everyone needs to comment on this very serious issue. Saying nothing is better than saying the wrong thing, which has been happening en masse with this conflict.
You are literally the channel I look forward to upload the most each week!! I absolutely love your long videos and nothing would stop me from watching those. If you were to upload the shorts I’d happily watch them too for even more content, even if you repurpose the long videos into shorts but I’d never skip out on your long videos!

It's great to watch you try making foods you're unfamiliar with - I think that aspect was really refreshing about this video. If you want to switch to also making shorts, I think a chunk of us might not watch them but have nothing against it, you'll likely bring in a new audience of people who like watching CZcams shorts. But the longer videos are enjoyable as well! I've been watching your channel for ages, ever since I got out of a toxic relationship in 2018, and I haven't stopped so something is still working 🙂.

Thank you for the disclaimer, its nice to see people keeps talking about this because its brutal. I rejected seeing my family in the usa this year because i refuse to give direct money to that genocidal government event if that cost me not seeing my family. I also pray for this conflict to have a resolution that doesnt imply wiping away a whole population or starting any war of sources. Its really frustrating to keep living and having that sudden thought in your head about "shit i cant do nothing about that" and even as a refugee myself i cant imagine what war and forced, armed and bombed disertation is.
