    Coach Nick focused on the key 17-5 run to start the second half, which propelled the Oklahoma City Thunder over the Memphis Grizzlies in this entertaining 7 game series. While Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant had monster games, it was some bad defensive decisions by Tony Allen that allowed OKC to take control.

    Simple, Coach. Zach Randolph couldn't play, Mike Conley was injured and Tony Allen also wasn't 100%. Not saying they would win game 7 with those guys healthy and ZBO playing but it wouldn't be this lopsided.

      Paul, they blew them out IN MEMPHIS the game before as well. Honestly there's no reason to believe it wouldn't be a home blowout! 3 of 4 of OKC's win vs MEM were blowouts lollol

    • @LeBeautiful_RealOne
      @LeBeautiful_RealOne Před 10 lety +3

      King Mike OKC blew them out in game 1 also. Some of the games that went to OT either Memphis or OKC was up by like 20 in some of them. It was a weird series.

    I'm disappointed in Coach Nick here. Tony Allen is arguably the best perimeter defender we have in the league Durant himself acknowledged that Allens' defense was getting to him. Highlighting a few bad plays in one game when the guy had an excellent series overall, guarding the best scorer in the league, is completely unfair and unjustified. Then again in your previous video you highlighted Dejuan Blair as the key to the San Antonio series so maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

    • @calvind77able
      @calvind77able Před 10 lety +1

      These are not a "few" bad plays, these were during the OKC run in which the Grizzlies desperately needed defensive stops to stay in the game, and which basically ended the game(Memphis couldn't even come close afterwards). And perhaps if you read the title, you would see that this is highlighting game 7, not the series.

    • @TheRelativeUnknown
      @TheRelativeUnknown Před 10 lety

      calvind777 You might have read my message but maybe you didn't fully comprehend my words. First of all I did mention that he is critiquing one game and not the whole series. In fact the basis of my argument is why is he doing that when the man had a great series overall. Second, yes it was a few bad plays by every definition of the word 'few'. They wouldn't even be in a game 7 if it wasn't for Tony Allens defense on Durant earlier in the series.

      The Lone Voice same here. I can appreciate his analysis but I think it doesn't have those global consequences listed for MEM. They do need changes though. Oh, and, for God's sake, coach, Joerger is a HC for a year now. It's YAY-gur!

    If i was the coach I would of used Mike miller to jack up a lot of 3s. The same way OKC lost to the heat in game 5 of the 2011 finals

    • @t4d0W
      @t4d0W Před 10 lety

      not that easy. Miller was able to do that because of momentum on the heat (consider he's sucked all season long and playoffs even for 3 balls) and so much effort to cover the first to third scoring options that people were leaving Miller wide open. When Z-Bo was out, it was much easier to lock in on possible scoring options.

    Im confused on how Tony Allen would of made the pass to the corner at 1:16. Wouldnt those big guys just tip the pass or deflect it some type of way? Also the pass was kinda obv so id think someone on the other side would just steal it mid way. I dont understand ball iq too much so can anyone clarify?

  • @DaMonstaMasta
    @DaMonstaMasta Před 10 lety +1

    I think a fully manned and fully healthy Memphis Grizzlies beat the OKC Thunder in game 7.
    They played without Kalathes for the series who was playing awesome for them. Z-BO was unfortunately out, which that by itself should of given the Thunder the game. And Conley was injured with a Hamstring. Its sorta like the Bulls but in the West. I was highly dissapointed by the Thunder's play. Durant and Westbrook were just jackin up shots the whole series. And they oughta be paying Reggie Jackson double for the save in i think game 4 or 5. Reggie Jackson literally saved their butts. They didn't play like a Team who had the best record in the NBA for a substantial amount of time. They played like 2 superstars who just jack up shots because they know they're unstoppable. And a lot of it i put on Scott Brooks to, by now the team should have an identity of how to play. Granted OKC played good in games 6 and 7, but a lot of Memphis's shots just weren't falling just like ATL vs IND in games 6 and 7.
    I usually really like OKC but this series honestly they played like trash. I thought they would run Memphis out the building like OKC does to the Spurs. I mean if you look at the numbers from the series Zach didn't play good, Gasol didn't play good, no significant bench player except for Udrih and Miller. The only people that played good for Memphis was Miller the Killer, Conley, Udrih, and at times Allen. everybody else was ok or bad. And it was Memphis's head coach's first year there.

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  Před 10 lety +1

      Michael Roquim there is context to every jump shot. A jumper in the same exact spot is NOT the same depending on time, and more importantly, score.

      BBALLBREAKDOWN ...and how many teammates are back to clean the glass, I agree with that. But Coach, why do you act like teams don't cheat off of Thabo and Perk all the time, collapsing on his passing lanes? At that point, of course he puts more trust in his ability to score or draw free throws. I think Russell gets a bad rap...he doesn't control the team's personnel.

  • @TheDEFconPRIME
    @TheDEFconPRIME Před 10 lety

    OKC winning this series was a foregone conclusion when the Grizzlies let Reggie Jackson be the x-factor in game 4. Holding Durant and Westbrook to their worst performance ever as a duo and not winning the game was their undoing. The back-to-back blowouts they suffered in games 6 and 7 could best be described as adding insult to injury.
