Coach Nick focused on the key 17-5 run to start the second half, which propelled the Oklahoma City Thunder over the Memphis Grizzlies in this entertaining 7 game series. While Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant had monster games, it was some bad defensive decisions by Tony Allen that allowed OKC to take control.

Simple, Coach. Zach Randolph couldn't play, Mike Conley was injured and Tony Allen also wasn't 100%. Not saying they would win game 7 with those guys healthy and ZBO playing but it wouldn't be this lopsided.
If you look closely LeBEAUTIFUL travelled
Hervé Schlacter That's a misconception, sir.
Paul, they blew them out IN MEMPHIS the game before as well. Honestly there's no reason to believe it wouldn't be a home blowout! 3 of 4 of OKC's win vs MEM were blowouts lollol
King Mike OKC blew them out in game 1 also. Some of the games that went to OT either Memphis or OKC was up by like 20 in some of them. It was a weird series.
LeBeautiful has a point.
because zach randolph is suspended, that's all the reason!
I'm disappointed in Coach Nick here. Tony Allen is arguably the best perimeter defender we have in the league Durant himself acknowledged that Allens' defense was getting to him. Highlighting a few bad plays in one game when the guy had an excellent series overall, guarding the best scorer in the league, is completely unfair and unjustified. Then again in your previous video you highlighted Dejuan Blair as the key to the San Antonio series so maybe I shouldn't be surprised.
These are not a "few" bad plays, these were during the OKC run in which the Grizzlies desperately needed defensive stops to stay in the game, and which basically ended the game(Memphis couldn't even come close afterwards). And perhaps if you read the title, you would see that this is highlighting game 7, not the series.
calvind777 You might have read my message but maybe you didn't fully comprehend my words. First of all I did mention that he is critiquing one game and not the whole series. In fact the basis of my argument is why is he doing that when the man had a great series overall. Second, yes it was a few bad plays by every definition of the word 'few'. They wouldn't even be in a game 7 if it wasn't for Tony Allens defense on Durant earlier in the series.
The Lone Voice same here. I can appreciate his analysis but I think it doesn't have those global consequences listed for MEM. They do need changes though. Oh, and, for God's sake, coach, Joerger is a HC for a year now. It's YAY-gur!
If i was the coach I would of used Mike miller to jack up a lot of 3s. The same way OKC lost to the heat in game 5 of the 2011 finals
not that easy. Miller was able to do that because of momentum on the heat (consider he's sucked all season long and playoffs even for 3 balls) and so much effort to cover the first to third scoring options that people were leaving Miller wide open. When Z-Bo was out, it was much easier to lock in on possible scoring options.
Miami Heatles Yeah, you would know that all too well.
Great defensive players have bad nights defensively, just like great offensive players have bad nights offensively.
Coach, you're way too hard on him (allen)
Im confused on how Tony Allen would of made the pass to the corner at 1:16. Wouldnt those big guys just tip the pass or deflect it some type of way? Also the pass was kinda obv so id think someone on the other side would just steal it mid way. I dont understand ball iq too much so can anyone clarify?
I think a fully manned and fully healthy Memphis Grizzlies beat the OKC Thunder in game 7.
They played without Kalathes for the series who was playing awesome for them. Z-BO was unfortunately out, which that by itself should of given the Thunder the game. And Conley was injured with a Hamstring. Its sorta like the Bulls but in the West. I was highly dissapointed by the Thunder's play. Durant and Westbrook were just jackin up shots the whole series. And they oughta be paying Reggie Jackson double for the save in i think game 4 or 5. Reggie Jackson literally saved their butts. They didn't play like a Team who had the best record in the NBA for a substantial amount of time. They played like 2 superstars who just jack up shots because they know they're unstoppable. And a lot of it i put on Scott Brooks to, by now the team should have an identity of how to play. Granted OKC played good in games 6 and 7, but a lot of Memphis's shots just weren't falling just like ATL vs IND in games 6 and 7.
I usually really like OKC but this series honestly they played like trash. I thought they would run Memphis out the building like OKC does to the Spurs. I mean if you look at the numbers from the series Zach didn't play good, Gasol didn't play good, no significant bench player except for Udrih and Miller. The only people that played good for Memphis was Miller the Killer, Conley, Udrih, and at times Allen. everybody else was ok or bad. And it was Memphis's head coach's first year there.
Curious to see what happens between OKC and LAC ! Very exciting playoffs
Coach, shouldn't the title say; 'How Russell Westbrook beat the Grizzlies in Game 7'??
Miami Heatles I know... it's called a joke
"There's no way in my mind, that the OKC Thunder will ever EVER win a championship with Russell Westbrook at the point guard." -Coach Nick
drewin
Lets just wait and see
Ahmad Philips Agreed
well turns out he was right
BBALLBREAKDOWN WILL THE NETS BEAT MY HEAT????? Sorry for the caps, I'm just worried.
lol westbrook at 3:40~
Coach pls analyse game 7 on Brooklyn and Toronto. I think nba is fixing this game.
Why dont you do Durant defense video? That would be interestingly.
I think you should check out the Raptors-Nets Game 7..although Kyle Lowry had a nice game stat-wise, I thought he was out of control a lot and he made a hell lot of bad decisions. Also caused other players on the Raptors to lack rhythm. Just my opinion.
About all of the plays that Russell Westbrook has made in the video were actually great plays
Allen's recklessness is what also make him so good defense (unpredictability).
okc shouldve lost this series
Miami Heatles if reggie doesnt bail them out, okc goes home
George Astafyev The same could be said for Memphis. If Mike Miller didn't go for 21 in game 5 and if Beno Udrih, the player who was let go by the Knicks, doesn't go for 14 in game 2, then OKC would've won in five or six.
Justin Sitjar its not 32....
George Astafyev Very true, but Reggie Jackson isn't part of the team? A lot of shoulda, woulda, coulda going on in that statement.
***** so??? durant is a MUCH better player than anybody on the court and he played the worst in that game
Don't forget those annotation coach. Get that internet $$$
Only you can give Russell Westbrook credit without giving him any credit. I guess we finally found someone you hate more than Russ.
LOL coach even said that a Westbrook long mid range jumper was a good look when in the last breakdown, even the most open jumper was considered a bad shot.
Michael Roquim there is context to every jump shot. A jumper in the same exact spot is NOT the same depending on time, and more importantly, score.
BBALLBREAKDOWN ...and how many teammates are back to clean the glass, I agree with that. But Coach, why do you act like teams don't cheat off of Thabo and Perk all the time, collapsing on his passing lanes? At that point, of course he puts more trust in his ability to score or draw free throws. I think Russell gets a bad rap...he doesn't control the team's personnel.
they lost game 7 in the end of game 6 when Randolph "punched Adams in the jaw''!!
The exact same things i was thinking
I allso tought kd hit the dagger on thst 3 lol
And i told people allen is overrated because of durants slump
Coach coach. Breakdown Game 7 of our series please!!!
Less on Iso Joe and more on the Raps side of things.
Nets ran that 8 man offense #NBARefs #CrawfordBlows
Good to see Coach giving Westbrook the praise he deserved for that game
I hope that bad layup of weatbrooks wasn't the knee acting funny. He's my fave pg
only showed conley in game 7. durant shot under like 43% in games 1-5 with allen guarding him
This is pretty harsh considering he is one of the best at guarding durant, and after SEVEN GAMES of it he's bound to be tired and probably feels he needs to do more seen as randolph was out, hence the gambling, if it wasnt for tony allen this series would have been a sweep
Tony Allen made 7 CZcams accounts
Hey coach, do you think the NBA's 1 game suspension for Z-Bo was fair or is a flagrant foul enough to warrant his bad actions?
OKC winning this series was a foregone conclusion when the Grizzlies let Reggie Jackson be the x-factor in game 4. Holding Durant and Westbrook to their worst performance ever as a duo and not winning the game was their undoing. The back-to-back blowouts they suffered in games 6 and 7 could best be described as adding insult to injury.
Hey coach... How did Russ do this game? I'm supprised you didn't give him shit again...
Why can't you be a coach in the NBA !
What I learned from this video: Tony Allen is the reason the grizzlies lost.
Coach, great breakdown but everyone knew OKC would win game 7 at home. The NBA and refs wont let the MVP Durant lose in the 1st rd. The LA Clippers will play the Heat in Finals.
Stop drinking Haterade. It's not good for you.
I don't think so. But! it would be fun
gerizzyYMcrew the NBA wants a feel good story and the Clippers will beat OKC with the refs help. Just watch CP3 and Blake get all the foul calls. its no accident Sterling gets booted in the first week of the playoffs. The audio tape of Sterlings rant was recorded in September 2013 but it gets released to the public and media last week? Clippers will win the championship and basketball will defeat racism. wow, NBA knows how to end the season!
Danny Max You're talking like the Heat aren't in the playoffs or anything.
***** its gonna be a Clippers vs. Heat FINALS. Clips will win in 7 games.
What an atrocious jump shot. But we all knew this game was over before it started. No Z-BO plus injuries.
When Russ passes, they win.
Good Bad Meh for Tony Allen?
"How the Grizzlies Lost to the Thunder in Game 7".
Honestly, just make a 5 second video and say "Zach Randolph was suspended."
Avery Bradley is so much better than Tony Allen
COACH! OKC or Clippers? I'd say OKC in 6
OKC
Biggest problem area for Clips is they don't have that one guy who can give Durant issues. And as good as the clips front court are, OKC has enough meat inside to take shots away along with Ibaka. Durant in full force decides this series.
Grade2efficient Matt Barnes?
LeBeautiful I doubt he does. Unless Barnes bodies him constantly and is willing to give up a foul to stop his rhythm when he goes for heat checks. But even then Rivers doesn't have another guy in the depth to play behind him unless he goes small.
Grade2efficient They don't have anybody apart from Barnes but they can do what D'Antoni always say. Don't worry about stopping them, just score more than they do.
ive noticed you NEVER say anything good about the clippers or never do a breakdown on the clippers...if you do then it's about how bad they are........just wondering why?
Too many games to get thru. We're planning on doing last night's game, but with games on today, it's tough...
