@@TalkingBen-ftw Eh, Tolkien did say that for those with a strong enough will, they could master the ring and overthrow Sauron. The only problem is that to do this, they would have to claim it, use it, and become corrupted by it so that at the end, the world would still have a dark lord.
Which in Palpatine's case would be more of the same, except with his powers augmented beyond belief.

This is actually a masterpiece, these characters and their powers work seamlessly together
I also thinks its lore accurate (as much as a crossover could be), considering that the Maiar should be much more powerful than some Jedi or Sith.

In the movie, Saruman just shoots a fireball at Gandalf. In the book, he's much more ethereal. He's able to extend his will and infect the minds of everyone except Legolas, Gimli, and Gandalf. He causes everyone to second guess his intentions, and even feel shameful and stupid for standing against him despite the fact that just a little while before he had raised an army with the sole purpose of killing every last one of them. His spell only breaks when he loses his composure at Gandalf's pity.

Saruman is a Maiar, one of the lesser Aniur who sang all of creation into existence. Literally thousands upon thousands of years of experience and knowledge locked in his head. He might have his powers tempered in the guise of a Istari because they where afraid a direct confrontation with Sauron would destroy more of the world of Eä, but he would be a powerful adversary for any Sith or Jedi. Let alone Sauron who was the strongest Maiar and didn’t mitigate his powers.
