Numbers were at 73k later that day, so ToD had the same player count peak as the Chaos Dwarves DLC. Not bad.
73 974 even surpassing Chaos dwarf dlc. Hopefully they keep gowing in that direction so they can rebuild a strong and steady player base
We all voted with our wallets and spoke out and there was a noticable improvement in product quality. Not everything is fixed, but this is indeed a victory.
A true "vote with our wallets" scenario would be this DLC priced at $10 instead of $25, but here we are
@@RRRRRRRRR3323$*. SoC had mostly reskinned *new* units with no improvements to factione and poor LL campaigna. ToD has alot more actual new units with reworks for the three factions so even the non DLC LLs benefit.
@@alejandrotuazon4831nope, 25 plus tax so like 27 for dlc. Bundle is limited time so doesn’t count
@@kurrwa which country? In my region ToD is cheaper than Chorf and SoC
Keep huffing that copium. All that money for a handful of units lmao?
The peak now is 74k+, which is more than the race pack that is Chaos Dwarfs, and it's not even the weekend!
CA did well this time, hope it carries to the Slaanesh DLC
Nowe we just need to reach Warden and the Paunch levels (83 000)
I mean as soon as people started seeing the armour changes for the Steam Tank it was clear they were preping for either 40k or a WW1/2 title.
probably 40k then possibly a historical title in the 1800s-1930s range
I don't think CA or their current engine for Total War will work in the 40K or WW1/2 settings.
@@Historyfan476AD 40K is already leaked as the next title they're working on. I imagine it will play a bit more like Empire as it's more around ranged combat than melee.
@@saurlex1368 That to be honest is not very inspiring know how poorly Empire released.
Sadly I think 40K won't work, industrial level warfare does not work well in Total war.
@@Historyfan476ADeh, I have hope. Seeing the guard swarm the battle like skaven will make my commissar brain make happy chemicals.
Making a ww1 game is such a huge risk. It could be a success but also a huge failure. People are salivating for a medieval 3 or Empire 2, what is CA thinking.
They want to do 40K and they might as well use that work to develop multiple titles with similar design challenges.
The people that want medieval 3 would like things like huge maps and lack of one character army that medieval 2 has.
The problem is if they fuck those up it's over they keep us around by always keeping those on the horizon
@@NewWorldSinner how’s that working out? Genius business strategy lmao.
Man CA should just make Medieval 3 and print money
Shogun 2, particularly FotS, still had the best field battles in the entire series' history as far as I'm concerned. So I loved seeing things like shield walls and cannon grape shot being added into the dlc. Reminds me of Shogun 2's yari walls and Armstrong Cannons.
MMmmman, the Oda Long Yari spear walls, combined with their cheap as chips Matchlock Ashigaru were my go to in that game. For every army the enemy has, throw three 20-stacks of Long Yari/Matchlock trash at them.
@MatteV2 my go to is saga clan with their superior artillery/bowmen
Firing 3 rounds in 2 minutes against hordes of undead and vampires whilst your general flies around on a carmine dragon?

I fear my gunnery was not up to expectations - I'm being stood down on the Ostermark border, my apologies gentlemen (I will be torn in half by a skin wolf)
I really hope WW1 Total War materialises. It's one of the most fascinating periods of warfare with constant evolution in tactics and weapons. People think it was just people sitting in trenches all day but that is such a huge oversimplification. Mass charges, innovative uses of artillery (e.g. rolling barrages), innovative use of cavalry very late in the war on the Western Front and pretty much throughout the wars in the Middle East and on the Eastern Front, chemical warfare...
Having the choice to only buy one of the three factions is more attractive for me, unlike for SoC where I only wanted to play as Grand Cathay. They should apply this for any 1v1 dlcs if they ever have plans for one, or better yet they should not shy away from having solo dlcs
Goth mommy on a dragon just what the empire ordered!! And dwarfs on boats in the air, how could it not succeed lol
TW3 in May 2024 is simply just a phenomenal game. Immortal Empires is the best TW experience for me and it doesn't even come close. Only downside is the Cost of Entry (Buying all 3 Games and some DLC) but money and corporate greed aside the devs have made something really great.
They really hit this one out of the park with Thrones Of Decay. There’s some problems and minor glitches, some adjustments need made here and there but ultimately it’s very very fun.
I thought I was looking at it wrong on steam.
The nation calls
8:25 You had me at gunpowder! Oh and Sharpe!
The Sharp name drop, Sean Bean would be proud!
Shadows of change was a DLC for WH3 factions. ToD as a DLC for two of the most popular facations that have been in the game since its start. Its bound to be more popular.
Nurgle is now really good too, it's on par with the top races.
Soc was a massive rip off when it came out. Toc is much more palatable in terms of pricing/quality of content.
not just DLC but a much needed rework to core mechanics of their campaign. Malakai plays like a hoard character flying around the wastes killing everything and regenerating in a flying encamp stance. It's honestly night and day the change of how much better the dawaii are
@@langa77777 DAWAII :)))))))))))))
Nah shadows of change was shit value for your money
Nurgle is insanely fun with The Maggot Lord.
Love a good chat about Total War
40k total war will have a huge number of challenges in game design. Going from medieval combat to gigantic battlefields full of guns, tanks and explosions. Fighting in hive cities, the air and space ships. I feel like they have decided to make WW1 total war because the game faces many of the same challenges that 40k will have. They may as well pool resources together to solve these
They already do have all those things on the battlefield in Warhammer Total war. They’ve had tanks, guns, and artillery since the first one. This update brought armor facing, multiple weapon systems on vehicles and flying multi weapon units. It can work.
@@argetlam05 yeah but the steam tanks don't behave like real tanks. They bash people in combat. There are hardly any animations for loading and firing the guns. Even medieval 2 had gun reloading. The artilleries combat power should reduce as they lose men or are damaged. Tanks could have armour blown off. I'm not trying to be critical, just pointing out theres room for improvement particularly if they are going for realism in ww1
I just don’t think these fit Total war, WW1 is trench warfare with very little nuances. 40k already has good strategy titles like dawn of war and gothic armada, it would be kinda redundant in my opinion.
@@tjbonzai87 If they did realism in WW1 you’d just be staring at men getting shredded by machine guns and artillery until one side runs out of manpower. Not really the tactical maneuver type of game, an immersive WW1 game from total war would absolutely suck man.
I just want to be able to shoot reliably from the tops of walls in cities!! What DLC is that going to be released on?
This entire vid feels like an ad
Lets see what the peak numbers are on the weekend
For 40k I honestly don't see a way they could do it without changing the engine but if they do and really work on it it could be absolutly epic.
Realms of Chaos - I love the realms themselves, they are visually amazing. But, the fact that immortal empires wasn't the main map, the fact that it wasn't ready at launch, and the fact that it's still buggy and lacking in much depth itself, really frustrates me. All they had to do was focus on immortal empire, and this game would have rocked. it feels bad that it's not in a finished state, despite them hyping up this experience for 5 years.
Now, if they can make their melee combat like Manor Lords, that would be awesome. I like Dwarfs so just picked them up and if it’s good, i’ll get the rest.
Didn't legendofTotalWar say that it looks like the WW1 thing was canned and Medieval 3 being brought up to speed in its place? 40k will still probably be ready sooner but i can't remember the exacts I can believe that CA and Sega are are in a bit of an unsure state right now so things might be changing behind the scenes.
I can't possibly imagine how they will do 40k on this current engine.
If they do medieval 3 on their current physics engine it’ll be a disaster the likes of Rome 2, but worse because they don’t have the consumer support that they had back then.
I think Legendoftotalwar said they are developing the now games on the Unreal engine 4/5 based on his leaks
No he hasn't said that. Not recently at least.
WW1 wasn’t even a good idea in the first place, how captivating is trench warfare gonna be fellas?
Soul blight armies in the game yet? I'd be interested if I can have a full vampire lords campaign.
The worst part is the thunder barge and the dwarf dude with him was a mod that I used for months before the dlc and the mod honestly looked the same maybe better in some cases even sad that modders can get shit out quicker than studios nowadays. I mean it’s been like that for a long time now but it just sad that developers can’t pick up the pace when modders be making whole games inside of gsmes
Yep, the modded Thunderbarge looked like a true zeppelim, huge. I think the most insulting aspect of the new DLC are not even the reskins or units who were modded before, but the fact CA still did not included a proper soundtrack for the Dwarfs... it's so insulting, FOUR factions sharing the same exact soundtrack since 2016, it's a slap to the face of every player
Modders already had to fix the new Dwarf mechanic because CA is too dense to carry the 1. Honestly, I'd rather they just copy/past the Greenskin Waaaagh mechanic than the trash we got.
@@anon4854 jeez that’s embarrassing for them I really want to love warhammer 3 but man they just make it harder and harder to we get less content that is more expensive and half the time seems broken or not implemented right.
@@elevatedone6886 I would take these few comments with a grain of salt compared to the majority of positive opinions
These people I bet would complain even if the DLC was perfect
Also the thing with modders is that they can pretty much do what they want
The devs cant
A modder can solely focus on one thing and get that out quicker while devs have to do a lot more before they can release
@@mkgaming5823 no it’s from personal experience I’ve been playing since warhammer 1 was the only one and both one and two had more content and better dlc in my experience some were stinkers like og chaos race but it atleast had unit variety if memory serves me right
Truly surprised the player reception has been so good. I never got the change DLC and I haven't gotten this one either the first I've not purchased in all of total war franchise since shogun 1.
I think we're pretty much done now to be honest we've gone beyond the points where they care about their customer base and as you point it out at this stage it's just about extracting money.
Nurgle is my favorite faction; so happy that they arent a total uphill battle anymore
I have been waiting since release, for Immortal Empires, before I'd be willing to buy. Going to the steam page and seeing how many DLC's are the before they launched IE has me reconsidering if I really want to buy the game or not. I'll probably bite the bullet, just have to decide if I'm waiting EVEN LONGER for it to go on sale or buy it full price...
You know Immortal Empire has already been out for a long time now, do you ?
World Wars will be an interesting time to cover for Total War considering they were bullied into removing a name from Warhammer 3 because it too closely resembled that of a figure from history, I wonder how they will navigate covering these eras without making reference to actual historical events and individuals like they have in so many of their other historical games...
Loved the Sharpe reference
Bro tamurkhan is so much fun I can’t stop playing even tho I suck rly badly
Haven't tried anyone but elspeth so far but omg I love it. She feels like empires ikit claw. Her campaign/mechanics are fine but the battles are so fn fun. She is over the top and I love it
I kind of do want to see a Total War Ivalice
There is a pretty good ww1 mod for Nepolion TW. Definitely worth a look.
A WW1 total war would be something I'd be interested in
Yeah it'd push TW to innovate. They'd have to handle trenches, a more static timeline (narrative driven like with Napoleon TW?) and so on.
the new gelt campaing is awesome.
My god I’m happy they’re learning this lesson and I just pray they keep up the good quality of not only the next DLC’s but the next total war games
How did they learn a lesson when they're charging nearly $30 for this? Is this single dlc worth half the game price? Is it worth it when they'res already $250 worth of fucking dlc for this game?
@@exquisitane233 The base game has 11 lords. Cathay's two and Kislev's three legendary lords share all their mechanics, meaning that there really are only 8 distinct factions to play as.
23 EUR for three very unique and just more fun factions is worth it.
Carrot and stick, and we the customers have both.
As a player I haven't played the new sstuff yet, but I did in fact buy the DLC already.
I hope this sets a new way they release DLC. I hope they release 3 dlcs per new "DLC" and then release them as they are ready but sell the "bundle" when the first one is released.
Still waiting for the base games to go on sale. Warhammer 1 is almost $100 CAD lol
I hope they are righting themselves because it seem important to a dedicated group of fans. I hope they are getting better :O
Im so glad TW WH3 is making a come back, this game has so much potential, I just wish the suits at CA realize this
This DLC is an actual banger tho still not happy about the price
Pretty much all the lords are absolutely amazing, AND you can buy them all separately, too, as well as reworks to multiple factions that are incredibly fun, like dwarves getting grudge settler unique units, theres honestly too much to even explain in a comment, and all of it has so much effort and love put into it, If this is a new commitment to quality as a result of the shadows of change boycott, then this is a victory.
My ideal game would be a mix of Manor Lords and Total War
Really interested to play empires new character knowing she's all about them firearms
Price is fine, quality is so much better
Finally, we get shipbattles!
Honestly I would've made a new Empire game to test out features with a new engine before taking on a colossal task as WW1.
I thought the Bismarck fought in WW2 around 1940… not in WW1
You are correct.
'fought' might be a generous term when it comes to the N-word german super battleships.
@@Grivehn They did fight though. Just as much as the German High Seas Fleet in WW1. Tirpitz especially had a lot operational time before being sunk.
@@DeusVultGamer Wasnt the Tirpitz which literally saw no combat, as it was always bombed to hell and remained in drydocks? As for Bismarck, I recall one battle it won, then it was promptly damaged on the same voyage so beyond repair it saw no more combat throughout the war.
One of us must have studied WW2 in a parallel dimension... WW2 Germany pushed submarines so much because they realised they cant do jack with heavy ships due to UK sea supremacy. I'll check what I can find, but pretty sharply remember those details, wouldnt have made the prievous comment otherwise.
@@Grivehn Tirpitz was significant threat as a surface raider off the Norwegian coast for several years before being sunk. While it's history isn't as storied as the Bismarck, who engaged the HMS Hood at the Battle of the Denmark Strait (even though Prinz Eugene fired the killed shot at Hood), Tirpitz was somewhat successful in its mission until bombers sunk her.
Surface raiding was a component of the trade interdiction doctrine of the Kriegsmarine, and Bismarck was even being sent out to the North Atlantic to sink shipping between the Americas and Britain, but was sunk while enroute. Submarines were, of course, a bigger component of that doctrine.
I’m still waiting for medieval 2 remastered.
A Total War: Warhammer 40,000 entry would be amazing!
i totally forgot about this franchise i used to love the series
WELCOME TO CATHAY GENLEMEN
It is a shame what happened to Hyenas ngl. Idc if the market is saturated i really like the color scheme
I don't even want to play nurgle and I bought all three because for once I actually want to support this because I don't want them to go back to how they were acting before
I just want a tactical historical total war.
My dream is for Attila to finally get some optimization patches.
Willing to bet they won't do a proper historical title from a new engine until 2030. Sofia will continue to kick out bland reskins, and Horsham will expand Warhammer.
If there's a WW1 game it will use the Empire engine with enhanced graphics. Probably via Sofia too.
Just a cynical guess.
it'll never happen. I would most likely try it but since they did fantasy i don't think any historical title can go the distance. Even the originals have tiny player counts playing them today. Even when TWH3 was going through teen drama the counts were holding at 20k ish
@@DeltaSpark8it will remain a dream 😂
good luck with that one. There will never be a total war without heroes ever again and its depressing.
I bought specifically the Empire and Dwarf part of the DLC. I really appreciate the option to do it like this.
Also, WW1 and Warhammer 40k? Sign me out.
Grandfather Nurgle is sad you are not interested in playing his campaigns, Bell =(
They definitely got a glow up in this DLC with the rework plus the 2 LL's, one of which is free. Kugath feels good right now with most of the things that irritated me about him being fixed in the limited time ive had to check him out so far. @@mattkelly6226 I hate forced time pressure. I dont care if the debuffs are low either. -1 gold per 50 turns is too much for not playing a campaign how CA wants me to.
If they were going to copy a gameplay mechanic they should have tweaked the Greenskin Waaaagh mechanic instead of adding some shiny UI to Skarbrands mechanic.
The whole thing feels antithetical to how Dwarfs should play. They dont run around killing everyone they have a grudge against in lore and rioting when they dont kill enough people.
It's a shame because the new Dwarf LL is really cool.

Thanks for the video
So not to be a downer but it would be kind of hard for this DLC not to do somewhat well so long as they didnt repeat the exact same mistake as last time. You have the entire community more or less locked in watching every move with solid scrutiny, the higher ups are watching, and the dlc address 2 major things.
1 being a release for a faction more or less universally liked in the empire. And 2 being a rework on two factions that a vocal part of the community have spoken on in the dwarfs grudges and nurgle on general.
Also oftentimes big projects lile these use multiple teams so the team that worked on shadows may mot be the same as this one but regardless i think the next dlc is more of an indicator. It isnt uncommon for corps to throw meat to their audience when they get rambunctious before the beatings continue.
I'd like to see Total War:AoS.
I only care about Empire on this DLC and my friend only cares about Dwarfs. So it's perfect.
Most played and loved race: empire
"Maybe we should rework and put out a dlc for empire"
Money printer go brrrrr. Who woulda thought?
I don't see how CA would get ww1 to work with proper trench warfare. Remember, this is the period of mass infantry formations transitioning into small unit warfare (albeit on a grand scale). It'd require a cover system unlike anything we've seen before. I'd rather have Empire 2 or Medieval 3.
kinda sad that TWWH3 is coming to an end, I was hoping for at least another 6 dlcs

Im very happy with what they've done. I own every DLC for the series. Held off on SOC until they fixed it.
Same here, was bitterly disappointed and haven't opened the game in months but their response has been positive so far. Just hope it isn't a flash in the pan.
😂😂😂😂
Wrong
I’m glad you’re having fun. I’ll stick with the free warhammer mod for Medieval 2
The dlc and patch is great, it's a shame that regional pricing fucked it up and it costs more than shadows of change even with the 15 % discount bundle.
Does the gun/artillery combat of Warhammer Total war really match up very well to Napoleon? The guns don't look super impactful to me.
Never played napoleon, but the guns and artillery in warhammer are amazing. Elspeth and Malakai especially can get artillery that wipes out squads in a good shot.
It's not even comparable. The guns and artillery game mechanics are a step back even compared to Medieval 2, Napoleon is on a completely different level regarding that part
YOU SHOULD HAVE MORE SUBS IMHO
What Warhammer III needs is a Skaven DLC.
😂
40K right now could be walking into a hornets nest.
Oh no!! Is Hyenas cancelled then?
I need medieval 2 remastered. Thats all.
New DLC is good, simple as it is.
Not too many stuff got fucked up with the patch, considering its CA, so well...
simple as it is, deliver decent stuff, have happy players.
Now please please give me a lizardman rework I know norsca needs it more but I love me more dinosaurs and fix their tech tree !!
Kremlo came from space 🚀
For me shadow of change was especially disappointing since it would have improved on the new races Kislev and Cathay and it was hard to have such a lackluster DLC
The new DLC and direction is much better from CA. So far it seems like they took the message to heart and I’m back to playing it right now with hesitant optimism.
Big W for palyers and CA i guess. If we would get low quality dlc like bofore TW:W would be dead...
theres a sale on in steam for total wars.pharos still one of the most exspensive 😅😅😅
Changed my review for the game from negative to positive for the first time for any game really.
It used to be I only adviced to get TWWH2 on as big a sale as one can and skip TWWH3, but this update and DLC made me change it. I'm not a DLC insta buyer, let alone a fanboy of CA, but ToD was how the whole game should have been treated. I haven't even gotten the SoC nor the Chaos Dwarves dlc.
Good on for RTS gamers having the exact opposite levels of self control contrasted to Madden/FIFA players.
More engagement
I said it on the C:SL2 video and I'll say it again, CA made a really fantastic apology and then backed it up with real actions of good faith. This is why players have accepted it, even if ultimately the new DLCs are of lower value for money. They're ok is the main point. Gamers are pretty understanding of price increases and inflation, always have been. Just don't take the mick like they did with shadows of change at first.
Contrast to CO who have basically done nothing except a move that has been perceived as damage control to scrub negative reviews, backed up by the fact that it was pushed out ASAP and broke the game for their most loyal customers and who previously mocked their customers for complaining.
CA have a long way to go to really regain people's trust, a lot of their actions over the past many years have not been in good faith, but shaking up management staff and making legit efforts to bring content up to standard goes a long way and shows effort. It should be noted that the situation with CA didn't just pop out of nowhere because they made one bad DLC. They've been engaged in manipulation of reviews, bullying those in their creator program to say only nice things and not really taking their feedback on board, their products have been decreasing in quality and increasing in price for a long time, they have been outright neglecting their core historical fanbase. The unrest has been cooking for a long time and shadows of change, along with pharoah just being a game noone wanted, was simply the straw that broke the camel's back. Plus the complete failure of Hyenas which really got SEGA on their back.
CA should just make Medieval 3 and print money.
See CA if you give me ( The players !!! ) What they want you get my money SIMPLE ASSSSS
People should of kept the boycott up longer, Creative assembly shits in everyones mouth people say they dont like that, creastive assembly is like okay sowwy and everyone is just like oh its okay heres hundreds of millions of dollars.
couldnt have said it any better, that's why publishers/dev studios can get away with this
"Ok, so we insulted our players, didnt give a shit about what they wanted, we were pure asshats, blah blah blah.
Lets say we're sorry and everyone will be back no matter what because that's how our customers with an attention span of a fly are"
So tired of everyone "boycotting" crap games just to drool all over them again when the publishers/game studios actually do what they were supposed to do, after X years of shitting on their playerbase
Why would they keep up the boycott when CA put their money where their mouth is?
They added content to SoC, they refunded Pharaoh purchases to reflect the lower price and ToD is a really good content pack.
I'm sure the management side is still not ideal, but they gave people what they wanted.
I mean yes, but warhammer total war is a game we will never get again, if the dlc doesnt sell, that means they drop the game in an instant in the future. Which means no more updates. That may sound ok to someone who picked the game up casually. But ive got all the achievements in twwh1 and 2 with close to 1k hours, i have full intention to reach that with this game as well, so I dont want the game to die
@@McTavish_221 I'm not casual I've been extremely hyped since that first trailer, I bought every dlc except the last 2 and I have 4000 hours in the games altogether. I also own every single total war game ever released.
I still think they should have to work a bit harder to get into everyones good graces but it is what it is. Your point is valid and I understand it.
if they didn't try that shit with Total War "Saga" Pharoah I would've bought it for $30ish sure but not $50-$60
