Right handed, left eye dominant. Pistol class teacher showed us. Tilt pistol very slightly and more under left eye. If I remember these steps. I’m right on. Hope this helps someone. Was always low and left
That's fine if you're shooting pistol, but not so much with long guns. I'm mostly right handed, but very left eye dominant. I learned to shoot left handed as a kid and have stuck with it decades later.

Same here.... I've been in law enforcement 27 years and still shoot long guns lefty due to my left eye dominance....

With long guns shooting left handed is easier
I shoot handguns right hand, rifles left handed.

Im probably right eye dominant but im a left handed person in almost everything. Recently starting to train. CC left handed is a pain in the ass as most handguns are right handed as is mine

Point at an object that is about 10 to 15 feet away with both your eyes open, then, while pointing, close one eye, then close the other, the finger that's on the object is your dominant eye.
So turning my head to shoot with my left eye has been correct this whole time... thanks for affirming that for me. 🤓
If you’re simply shooting paper it doesn’t really make a difference but look how she limits her peripheral vision to her left side when she turns and tilts her head. That is a horrible thing to do if you’re training for self-defense. If someone was walking up from your left side with a bat or knife how close would they have to be to you before you would be able to see them. ?🤷🏼♂️

Turning your head to the right limits your peripheral vision to your left, particularly when you tilt your ball cap as you did in this fashion. The correct method is to simply move the gun
This helps me a lot. I'm relatively new to firearms and I've got an instructor at the range who sees that I'm cross dominant / right handed but he's telling me I ought to just learn to shoot left handed instead. He's former LE so I do take his opinion into account but it seems like a big upheaval for me to make myself into a left hand shooter when it looks like I could just really learn this head tilt technique and make it automatic. Any opinions? I'd really welcome them.
I'm with you. Also cross dominant, and have been shooting right-handed, left eye for 50 years. Expert qualifications USMC, USN, several law enforcement agencies (before they went woke and went to "pass/fail" and stopped rating marksmanship). Learning to shoot left handed is a major effort.
I'm telling you i have this issue since getting my cataract surgery..it's hard to get my new dominate eye working right.
Did your dominant eye change, post cataract surgery?

what about with long guns?
The head tilting method doesn't work for me with red dot, and I don't know why. My instructor told me to use second method with red dot. Any ideas?
I’m Crossed - lol , a righty, but left eye dominate. All I do is just adjust my head a bit. Yes M’am!
Or simply move your gun 2-3 inches left. Turning and tilting your head the way she did in this video really limits your peripheral vision to your left hand side. In her example just think how close a threat could come from that direction before you were able to see them.
@@longgone9869 - I don’t tilt or turn so much, i just slightly adjust whereas I don’t lose any peripheral. Thanks for the advice, appreciate it.
@@freedomjoe7118 perfect! One more little tip to practiced when cross-dominant.
As you draw your weapon make sure you bring it across your body under your dominant shooting eye. As you do a flat level presentation you will pick up on the front sight quicker and it will possibly result in being able to make a faster more accurate shot. Everyone is different you just have to experiment to see what works best for you And religiously practice has done skills are perishable.

The issue for me is that I have a lazy right eye and dominant left eye as a right handed

I am left eye dominant but I wear a contact in my right eye to see distance. Right handed..So if I use my dominant left eye I can't see distance because of vision problems. So frustrating

No no you don't get it. I got astigmatism and my right eye is pretty much considered legally blind. I can't fix that

Yes and she’s really limiting her vision in that direction. Julie strikes me as someone who is a competitive shooter but haven’t had much tactical weapons training
