One of the best explanations I have ever heard. Thank you, Julie
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it!
That's because men can't explain Jack shit.
One of the best explanations and instruction on this subject I have ever seen. No razzle dazzle, just good solid facts on how to do it right.
Excellent video. I got my first gun in June and couldn't figure out why I never seemed to hit the target, and this explanation is a fantastic answer. I had help with my aim a month ago and really saw the difference from my first shots, and now I'm committed to this technique. Thanks for the simple but powerful explanation!!
Down to earth practical and straight shooting. Nicely done
Nice job and a great smile to go with it, thanks.
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 Excellent instructional video

Very valuable. One of the best videos I've seen on handgun sight picture.
This is the most best explained video I have ever seen on site lineament thank you very much
Wow Julie, that's why all these years I'v been missing the mark. At New York State Dept. Of Correction beck in the '80's they taught us about the space between the front and rear sights, but were never told about super impose the front sight over the target but put the top of the level rear and front sights across the middle of the target. Close, but no cigar. AS always. Thank you for great advice!! Never too old to relearn.
Darn good information. Tried it out and it helped tremendously

This the best hand gun aiming video I've ever seen. My first gun is a M&P9 1.0 so I might be a little bias. Thanks again

Well done well explain
Awesome vid Darlin !! Beginner here ! First class and range last night ! Got the Glock 45 Gen 5 / 9mm . I was getting frustrated , as at times I was close to target but as I continued shooting was way off . I think I was pulling trigger too rapid rather then than a slow gradual ease into trigger pull . Great tips !
I was doing the same thing, then I uncrossed my eyes and was back on target! 😄👍
Thanks...
🙏
I recently bought an M&P 9 2.0 full-size. It is bar far (IMO) the best and most comfortable pistol I have ever used.
However, I was not pleased with the iron sights. It drove me nuts, that when you line up the top of the front post with the top of the rear sight, the dot on the front post does not sit parallel with the 2 dots on the rear. The front dot sits higher up, making it inconvenient to use in low light.
I ended up installing the self luminous Trijicon HD iron sights. Everything lines up flawlessly and makes this pistol even better and more accurate for me.
An easy way of remembering is this, "Equal height, equal light".
Referring to the height of the post being the same as the height of the rear sight, and the equal amount of light that you want to either side of the front post.
Great
I’m older and require prescription glasses including progressive lenses. When I attempt to get a sight picture and then transition my focus to the front sight, I must press my head back to get my glasses into a position to focus on that front sight. It’s very uncomfortable and requires more motion on my part. I can usually hit the target but, of course, the grouping is very wide.
To compensate, I’ve learned to shoot with both eyes open and get as good of a sight picture as I can then focus on the target. Again the groups are wide but I’m on target and can shoot faster with less body motion.
If there is a better way for older shooters, I’m all ears.
And, yes, I have a pistol with a red dot as well as my carry gun, Compact 2.0 9mm, with just iron sights.
My main issue is im right hand dominant but for some reason in left eye dominant and i wear glasses for vision but even using both of my eyes to try to sight my left eye takes over and i gotta try to favor that side more.

hi julie..i just want to ask, where the bullet will hit when we focus on front sight,is it behind the white dot or at the top of front sight?
thanks in advance
Works Great! One way I can tell is to NOT see the top of the gun. You should only see the three dots. Does that make sense?
I honestly enjoyed the bugs in the back
🔥🔥🔥👍🏻💪🏻👌🏻
Thank you for the video. So, every time I line up my front post with the rear notch site so that it forms a flat line, I feel like the slide of my pistol is pointing down and not level with the target. I will look at the profile of my slide while I'm doing this, and it does seem to be pointing down instead of being level. Do I just need to forget this, and trust that when I fire the shot, the gun is going to be level?
Does the forward white dot cover the intended target? Or does the intended target sit on top of the forward site stick to form a lollipop image?
I have a S&W 44 mag. do I put the top of the red on the front sight in the middle of the rear site?
Right-handed but left eye dominant? Close the right eye or keep both open?
Julie, what kind of bullets do you recommend to practice for a beginner (for example:plastic..?)
1911a1 Springfield 45 loaded, 230 round nose hitting high 4 inches at 25 yards, can i adj sigh pitcher or have to rase front sight, rear adj l/r.?
Julie, have you ever noticed that with a lot of three dot sights if you line up the top of the front sight with the top of the rear sight, the dots will not be lined up? ( the front dot will be slightly high) If you line up the dots instead... the point of impact will be slightly lower.
Yep... I find 3-dot sights useful for beginners learning sight picture because you can say, "ok, just line those dots in a row." Using the dots is fine for fast, close stuff as you won't see that much difference with your hits on the target. As you move the target back though, that's when paying attention to those corners and the bars of light is so important.
Thanks so much for watching!
@@juliegolob You are the best!

Hello::: WOW I did not know you were on the tube !!! I am guy with almost new Model 59 S&W. Love the way you explained put front sight on target. You make it sound too easy. LOL I probably need Mini Sticky Notes "Dollar Tree". To aim at !! Sub and Like,,,YES
Julie what is your most loved S&W?
what about eye dominance?
I struggle to see the front sight, being nearsighted, a 1958 Baby 😎, left eye dominant and right handed
What about revolvers
Wanted to see if she hit the target
so do I need to do this when I'm about to shoot an intruder in my house? what if they don't have the white strip on them?
First
Being first is awesome :)
