  • In this episode, we check out the Envelope Filter 440 from DOD. The DOD 440 (2014) makes your guitar speak with vowel-like sounds, and cry with slow-filter sweeps that react to your pick attack. The new addition of the up and down switch lets you choose which part of the sweep you want to emphasize. The 440 is back and the neighborhood will never be the same. The DOD Envelope Filter 440 (2014) has Level and Range controls. Level controls the sensitivity of the envelope; adjust this control to tailor the triggering of the filter based upon your pick attack. With a higher sensitivity, a lower signal will affect the envelope’s effect. In other words, with a higher sensitivity, you don't have to pluck as hard to make the effect audible. Range controls the range of movement of the envelope’s sweep. Counter-clockwise sweeps more low frequencies. Clockwise sweeps more high frequencies. The Voice switch allows you to choose which part of the filter sweep you want to emphasize. True bypass allows your guitar tone to remain pristine even when the new DOD 440 (2014) is off. This is a big difference from the original which would color your bypassed tone. The modern 9V DC power supply input makes the pedal more pedalboard friendly.

Thanks Paul! Hoping to get some more pedals with expression jacks soon. There is talk of a new series that might help with that. :)

The rubber chicken is still on my board too. There are a few that are really tempting though.

My god you are thorough. Digitech/DOD closed in 2018 :-) What the H. Used is often better, I needed their Polara Reverb and I did eventual find one :-)

There must be some new stock still floating around because we picked this one up new on a recent sale. That’s the cool thing about doing these series. We get to try out as many as we can get our hands on. There are still some we want to add to this series too.

@@PJandtheBeard The story just keeps getting better :-) When Samsung closed down DOD/DigiTech they left the Warehouse Store open. When product slowly sold they pulled it from the catalog. At the end of the first year the really hot pedals were sold out. Oddly they did not and have not had a blowout sale. I have check the site every few months expecting the big sale or even the site to be gone. I predicted to my readers it would be gone in Jan. 2022. I indeed checked in Jan and only 7 pedals were left which was only a few weeks ago. I just looked a minute ago and was amazed to find the PreAmp 250, the Envelope Filter 440 and the Meatbox back in the catalog. WTF!!! All 3 were gone by mid 2019. If I am right it is just Feb so it could represent a total sweep out of the real estate and a few things were found buried. If so having the LAST new 250 Preamp could be very valuable in a few years. Especially with the just released JHS Overdrive Preamp clone only last Thursday. If you scooped one of last DOD 250's it would make a great show.

@@Canweevenfixit They are all back but why are they having a blowout sale? The 250 is only $75.00 usd so why have a sale now unless they putting the whole company to a permanent closure ???
