  • Welcome back to another video y'all! Last Tuesday I was lucky enough to see the 777X doing some high altitude performance testing at Colorado Springs Airport. The aircraft did a total of 8 patterns around the airport on Tuesday. It ended up staying the night at COS and then flew around a bit on Wednesday before heading back to Everett, Washington. I was fortunate enough to catch it doing its last 2 patterns around COS on Tuesday in addition to its landing and taxi. Thank you for watching and have a fantastic day!

      As far as I can recall.... in the aviation jargon they first called it Winglets, when they were first introduced by Airbus about 25yrs ago,..... I think 🤔 so they actually become Winglets when they are upright & wingtips when they're straight... sounds quite logical.... or not?

    • @superskullmaster
      @superskullmaster Před 3 měsíci

      @@RamSingh-cg2dn no, winglets are vertical or near vertical permanent wingtip devices. They stay in that position always. These are folding raked wingtips which are only vertical on the ground to make space at space restricted airports. They are NEVER vertical in flight. These are a first for commercial aviation. Typically you only see folding wings in Navy aircraft.

      No what I mean by high altitude performance testing is that they came to COS because it’s 6,187 feet above sea level. Nothing needs to replace the A380, it was a white elephant from the very beginning.

      There's definitely going to be something. All these delays are a red flag for me. That's why I'll be avoiding the few airlines that ordered it.

    They painted it like the MAX. Coincidence? I don't think so.

    The folding tip is the most redundant waste of money I have ever seen put on an aircraft

      Its not a waste of money, folding the wingtips changes the 777X from a Category F aircraft to a Category E. This change is incredibly important because most major airports worldwide are Category E airports. If the 777X remained a category F aircraft (the same category as the Airbus A380), it would severely limit the number of airports it can fly to.

      It would not be able to park at gates already used by 777/787 if it didnt have folding wingtips
