Did Kai Take Tai Lung’s Chi? | Kung Fu Panda Explained

- For some reason the fate of Tai lung was never addressed after Po used the Wuxi Finger Hold to defeat him in Kung Fu Panda. In a blink Tai Lung completely vanished from the world, and we later find out, when the Dragon Warrior confronts Kai, that as a mortal, Tai Lung was sent to the spirit realm using this chi-based move. While this initially completely blew my mind, I loved finding out what happened to Tai Lung, I felt intrigued by another question. Did Kai steal Tai Lung’s chi in the Spirit Realm?

Tai Lung might actually redeem himself in the next Kung Fu Panda movie if there is one. When Shifu apologizes, you can see the regret in his eyes.
If I'm honest I can see that Tai Lung coming back from the spirit realm to the mortal realm not to fight or revenge but to apologise for his wrong doings because after his chee being taken he might of realized that he no he isn't the dragon worrier and yes he his strong fighter but not a another card in a deck for else to play with i believe that Tai Lung might be better and want to apologise for everything hes done and maybe ask for a second chance or judgement to be able stay and fight alongside the dragon worrier and the furis 5
Redemption can also be done for Shen.
Also my head canon for Tai Lung is that during in his time in the spirit he met up with Oogway and made up with Oogway and learnt how wrong he was. So if he was to come back he would apologise to the others but thats about it.
Yea they could use Tai Lung for an epic battle but i think Shen would make more sense for Po.
The only problem with redemption for Shen is that he may of done too much damage but you could argue that no one would trust Tai Lung especially in the valley of peace either for a long time.
(Do note Shen my favourite character in the trilogy)

I can imagine that Tai Lung tries to master chi from the spirit realm, hoping to both gain the power that previously defeated him, and gain the energy that empowered Po. But in doing so, he will come to realize that his best chance of learning the skills is from Master Oogway, and learn in time that redemption is better than revenge.

Tai Lung could never use Chi. To use it, he should have self-awareness. But he doesn't have it.

After all, his not accepting the fact that he is not the dragon warrior, and that he has not understood the teaching that one does not become proficient with a magical scroll, tells us that he would never be able to have the awareness of himself necessary for use the Chi.

Draico Storm it probably was comparing how they both did against shifu the reason kai won was because shifu got distracted because of oogway and Kai had taken down every master in China and in the spirit realm and had all there powers and tai lung won by beating shifu with raw strength now there are some problems with the battle for starters shifu was probably stronger when he fought Kai and shifu might have been holding back while fighting tai lung to be honest it depends on how much master Kai has beaten because every time he takes somebody chi he gets stronger and unlocks there abilities

One theory I thought of.
If Tai Lung ever returns in the 4th movie. What if he found Lord Shen’s old wolf army and decides to take over as the new leader. If Tai Lung had an army with him he would attack a lot of villages to make it to the Jade Palace.

Tai has been raised to be a weapon. He never stopped to think or feel. He never disobeyed any order till he keeps getting rejected to the point his feeling and thoughts are only filled with rage. I believe when shifu apologised, he clearly still loves shifu, but locking him away than guiding him with his emotions and how long his ruined reputation is, he knew he shouldn't just give in and give up. I think after looking into the scroll and po telling him the true meaning of a dragon warrior. Tai should be redeemed and hopefully meets his nephew and his family that he never got the chance to meet in person. Because in true honesty Tigris would have ended like him if she hadn't found her only friends. They gave her a reason to feel and think for herself, shifu is that type of parent that works to death than having some precious moments to feel happy or sad or mad. It's work after work after work. Hell even going in tai and tigris childhood, all shifu does is teaching offense, defense and support. Tigris has a hard time opening up to people she doesn't know and that goes to tai as well. They would yell and act than talk. It's stressful to work so hard for many years so one person who just started takes your dream, your destiny, your life away from you. #redemptionfortai💗

Idk i always assumed his rampage through the valley involved some murder. Unlikely he’d be rotting away for 20 years for property damage. In which case it’s hard to justify using therapy instead of jail
The problem was that Shifu taught Tigress control but did not teach that to Tai Lung.
Tai Lung had been unknowingly embracing the power of the Dragon Scroll for a long time. Tai Lung became so strong because he "got the extra power of the Dragon Scroll" thanks to his belief that he was destined to get the scroll. That's right, he already had the power of the Dragon Scroll and he was still searching for it. The scroll was his something special.
Tai Lung never realized that part of his power was never his own. That's why Tai Lung could escape the prison, demolish the Furious Five, and overpower Shifu. Heck, even after facing the unexpected strength of the Dragon Warrior, Tai Lung still managed to defeat Po. Tai Lung would've never been able to do any of those had he not had the power of the Dragon Scroll. If you still don't believe me, Shifu said it himself when he saw the defeated Furious Five, "He has gotten stronger". How can you rot in jail for 20 years without being able to move a single muscle and be stronger than your past self?
However, everything changed after Tai Lung opened the Dragon Scroll. He realized that something which was special to him was actually nothing special at all. At that point, he lost his belief, and thus, lost his powers, allowing the Dragon Warrior to defeat him. So he was weak against Kai in the spirit world.
Bro, this is my favorite explanation of what happened even tho I know they didn’t think this deeply into it. It’s like tai lung had the powers of gladiator from marvel and just gave up on his dream in the end, thus ending him
This explanation is the best one, it's actually similar to that one episode in legends of awesomeness where Po is teaching the emperor's son and only improved when Po made up a fake story about a legendary bean (actually just a random bean) that would give anyone great power to him.
The belief of being able to do things naturally is what allows them to achieve such capable feats.
I just want to point out that the subtitles at 1:38 say that Kai stole Tai Lung’s cheese.

I haven't seen Kung Fu Panda 3 in a while but I love this series. Also a while ago I read somewhere that Kung Fu Panda 4 is a thing and it was confirmed by I believe the directors. I unfortunately don't remember much about it.
After DreamWorks acquired by NBC Universal, former CEO, Jeffrey Katzenberg, who is confirmed Kung Fu Panda have 6 Movie total, is not in DreamWorks anymore. And also Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni who Direct Kung Fu Panda 3 confirmed he actually see this franchise as trilogy, but he open if any chance to see next sequel focus on Po story.
So what I see on DreamWorks Animation now after the acquisition, this company on transition and restructuring by Universal Studio.
What I see now DreamWorks try to play save, at least now.
But some rumor have been flying around, UNIVERSAL Studio likely reviving some DreamWorks franchise.
First focus is The Croods 2 will be release end of this year, next is
Shrek to be rebooted/soft reboot.
In fact Kung Fu Panda now still continue with new TV Series, Kung Fu Panda: Paws of Destiny, maybe we must wait a longer to see the sequel if this happening.

To be honest, I’d love a Tai Lung redemption story. Heck make him ‘The Phoenix warrior’ from a fabled legend of one who rose from the ashes of their own downfall and rose up from the spirit realm in redemption - To save the day. Imagine a Tai Lung and Po banding together in a team co-op fight working as a unified duo! That’d be epic!!
How Tai Lung becomes an anti hero: After returning to physical form in the spirit realm he begins fighting Ogway, taking out his rage for everything on the old master, and he loses, a lot. Eventually the turtle gets through to him, and he starts trying to control his rage , instead of letting it control him, becoming a much better fighter in the process. Having a clear head , finally, he is able to look back at his time as a jade trinket and while still angry and bitter that he lost that badly, he knows Kai was using strength that he stole from others. Having experienced this abuse, he vows to never let himself be used like that again, then amends that to include letting no one be abused and manipulated by anyone stronger then them. Ogway sees the sincerity of Tai Lung in this vow, how he intends to turn his power from self pride to protection and one “night” after the cat falls asleep Ogway sends him back to the mortal plane and waits, semi corporate himself. When he awakens, Ogway reminds him of his vow and warns him that the path he has chosen while righteous, will be hard to navigate both bc his rage is still great and will continue to require practice to control , and may never fully be extinguished, but he may yet learn how to harness it safely, and that bc of his deeds the last time he was on this plane are still well known , and remembered, he will face fear and those that wish retaliation. Tai Lung agrees, and said those are his burdens to bare, but that he can not stand in good strength on the sideline or so wrapped up in himself any longer, not while others suffer , so he will find a way to master his rage and make amends so this world doesn’t fear him, unless , he smirks, they are wrong doers and deserve to. He bows to Ogway and watches him nod as he slips back into the spirt realm on a swirl of petals, then sets his sights on the horizon. “One step at a time, one day at a time. I’ll shape my rage into something that can be a shield for others who have been used. After all, Cats are supposed to have 9 lives, so I better get to making this new one better then my last.”

I always empathized with Tai the guy gave his entire youth for a dream he was not allowed, blood sweat tears and broken bones all for naught. I kinda felt bad for him in the end who wouldn't be royally pissed at their master for something like that. I hope they bring him back in an arc where he is redeemed.
I want to see Tai Lung being able to redeem himself in the next Kung Fu Panda movie, even if he gets to return to the mortal realm. For example, where Tai Lung does apologize, make things right, and in doing so reveal that he was among those who's chi Kai had stolen and share his encounter with Kai.

When Kai was defeated the chi that he stoled was free so there is a possibility Tai Lung is free from the spirit world . Tai knows he is no much for Po so im thinking he will come back but stronger , i think he will travel a little and train in order to face up again Po . 3:25 I think your right about General Kai keeping Tai Lung while he sent at the other master's into battle, if you look closely on Kai's chain belt, all of the chi amulets are gone, except one. That one chi amulet had to have been Tai Lungs.

@@belkYT Oogway is kept around Kai's neck, since he holds him up to "show him" something while he talks with him, since Kai and Oogway were best of friends back then. So he kept Oogway close to his heart, despite his hatred towards him. I assume this is true since he's not found amongst the rest of the gem warriors on his belt. I know it's hard to see where Oogway is on Kai when's either running or fighting, but his is around Kai's neck

IMO since Po released all the Chi-prisoners from Kai (including Tai Lung) I believe that Tai Lung might be able to find inner peace himself now like Oogway- I mean, yes he might have been bitter before and wanted a rematch against Po someday but then Kai comes along and Forcibly enslaves him essentially?

I love that in this movie, Oogway learned from Pandas so gives a new meaning to when he says interesting, when Po lands in front of him in the first.
It would be cool to see Tai Lung's redemption. But really, he could spent time with Oogway in the spirit realm and Oogway would help him change into a better person. Then maybe if there's another sequel to KFP , Po would come to the spirit realm and ask Tai Lung for help.
i am disappointed that they made tai lung look extremely weak against po. they should have made him look much stronger.

Because Po is the main character, of course he was gonna win despite being made to look silly throughout their fight. If it was in the real world, Po would immediately be beaten up by Tai Lung.
Imagine if Tai Lung found peace in the spirit realm and came back a better person. That would've been interesting but then a big battle wouldnt ensue.

What would a battle of Kai, Rhino, Ox, Croc, Oogway, Tai Lung, Shifu, The Furious Four, Shen, Wolf Boss, and other masters vs Po and the Pandas be like? That would be sooo epic.

Maybe in the spirit realm, Tai lung actually changed. After realizing that the dragon schrol is just yourself. He decides to finally let it all go after being sent to the spirit realm. Being in peace like Oogway
All I want is that, Tai Lung should absolutely have a redemption arc, team up with Po and face a deadly villain in the 4th movie.

Today I had literally watched all three movies and this video comes out.
If Kai used Tai Lung chi on the panda village Po will have to deal with him again.

I imagine tai lung in the spirit realms making his own power.
Like this blue soul electric type of energy, and with that power he can create the portal back to the overworld to finally defeat Po.
Along the way he should find his nephew “Peng” and then tai lung will teach Peng the ways of his power and energy. So they both try and defeat Po. Then Peng realises his doing wrong, so then he joins tai lungs side (but he was only doing that to backstab Po after)
After all this time Peng finally tried to kill Po, but then Po fought Peng and then Peng lost. Po got hurt by one of Peng lethal punches, Po was really dizzy and ended up in a coma. Tai lung appeared in the village and destroyed everyone, even fought the furious 5 and master shifu at the same time. Tai lung wrekt them. Po was getting to his sense and woke up, tai lung and Po finished the fight, but both leading them to the spirit realm, then Po finally woke up and realised his kung fu career was only a dream.

Tai lung's chi was with kai when we first saw him battle oogway but there are many theories why kai didn't use his chi as a jade zombie my theory is that tai lung and po's chi are really powerful if he released tai lung kai would most likely not be able to control him

In my opinion Tai Lung is the single most skilled fighter of all (keep in mind that I just really love snowleopards), he defeated 1000 armed, trained rhinos, threw them around with ease, literally ran up falling stalactites and judging from his expression, he didn't look as if was too tired afterwards (keep in mind that until a few minutes ago he was tied up and had been holding up 2 huge boulders for years. He was trained in Kung Fu since he could walk and then somehow gets defeated by a panda that hasn't even been training for a month.
Because he was DETERMINED TO DRAGON SCROLL, that's what gave him the power. After seeing the scroll, the "it's nothing" scene, this determination went away, weakening him in return, but then very next double fist making Po realizing that he's actually strong as well.
I think Po’s growth has something to do with the pool of sacred tears.
Tai lung returned in Kung Fu Panda: Legends of awesomeness.
That was Po using a Shift Stone to disguise himself, to trick Tai Lung's nephew Peng into giving up a medallion that's driving him crazy.

If there was a Kung fu panda 4, it would be interesting to see Tai lung's return for 2 things:
- The first would be that without oogway Tai lung would have become the dragon warrior and it would be interesting to see Tai lung being better than po at being the dragon warrior... It would create a feeling of "insecurity" about po if he is really the dragon warrior...
-second, even if it stays in the spirit of the first film, Tai lung would be the rival (still bad, but good after what he has undered in the spirit realm) from po...
Also it can be interesting to see an adversary really strong, impossible for tai lung, shifu to beat but not for po... However, with the presence of a changed tai lung, po would still question himself about whether or not he is the dragon warrior
It would sum up the path of po that he discovered in the other 3 films
Nah,I Think that Tai Lung should time travel and kill Oogway.This would reverse all the events but because Po was supposed to be the dragon warrior,he would have had his mind still there.Tai Lung becomes the new dragon warrior.But then another dude comes and steals the Furious 5 and Tai lungs chi.Then he revealed that he took all the masters' chi,from the past to the present.Then he has to fight Po.Then Po defeats him and everyone regains their memories and everyone loves happily ever after
Honestly I could easily see Tai Lung turning to the path of redemption now. He considered stopping after Shifu apologised to him and I feel after finally seeing the dragon scroll and having time to have reflected on what Po told him he’d eventually come to realise he’s flaws and once again better himself. I’d love to see a redeemed Tai one day fighting beside Po and the five.
I would love to see Tai Lung to come back because he's one of my most favorite villains and my most favorite King Fu Panda villain.
I wouldn't be surprised if he took Tai Lung's Chi. They WERE in the spirit realm together after all.
Tai lung is still alive because at the end of the fight between Po and Kai, Po gave everyone back their chi.
The Chi of the people who was taken from the spirit realm returned back to the spirit realm just as the mortal chi into the mortal world

Maybe Tai Lung will come back in some point in the future, maybe as more of a broken soul (or name himself the fallen dragon) and darkness has consumed him more while the good side of him is still inside trying to fight the darkness but fails time and time again.

He had no more time for redemption after he had a thought during his time blasting pieces apart he wondered why stop when he's done so much already so he continued and even after Po talked to him

Wouldve loved a spinoff set between parts 2 and 3, where tai lung leads a resistance against kai in the spirit realm. Redemption arc plus self sacrafice, and in the end he say something like "its up to you now, fatso"

The entire existence of Tai Lung feels so void. 10 years instead of 20 years of jail would have been better. It feel so odd that he spend half of life training and half in jail. Like his entire existence was to be defeated by Po.
That’s why tai lung was full of rage. After training his whole life just to be denied the title of dragon warrior and then getting jailed would make anyone pissed off and filled with thoughts of revenge

It will be really exciting if Tai Lung will show up in KungFu Panda 4. I hope the movie will start of at the point when it flashbacks the fight between Tai Lung and Kai (after Tai Lung being sent to the spirit rim by Po). After the fight ends between both of them, it shows up the “KungFu Panda4” logo and starting of the movie when Tai Lung releases from his Chi.

Omg you should try to go more into the back story of Shen, he’s a complete badass villain that had not only major strength but also intelligence. There is nothing more dangerous than a villain that knew his own weaknesses.
Yeah it would be nice to see tai lung again but I dont think he will fight po again. He would probably prefer to be with the only tiger he ever loved,tigress.
A story of tai lung in the spirit realm going after master oogway asking him why he wasn't chosen having oogway fight him and then take him on a journey in the spirit realm so he could finally find peace has the potential to be a great side story that i would love to watch unfold.
Still wish that DreamWorks made TV series for rise of the guardian
