Gary Moore - Red House (Jimi Hendrix Cover) (Fender Stratocaster 50th Anniversary) [HQ]
    • Gary Moore - Red House...
Rest in peace, Gary Moore... so sad of a day... your guitar stays with us, and you shall live trough it. Farewell...
† Gary Moore was found dead in February 06 2011, while on vacation at Costa del Sol, Spain. †
    - - -
This is Gary Moore in amazing rendition of Jimi Hendrix´s Red House, for the Fender Stratocaster 50th anniversary concert, in Wembley Arena, 2004.
Like I said, this stuff is amazing. There was only one version of this in CZcams, and the quality was not that good. So I uploaded mine, with better quality and widescreen vision, directly ripped from the original DVD.
And to think that this unknown-for-me-at-the-time chubby guy would tear my face off playing amazingly well, with a sharp and killer tone, out of nowhere. The other presentations in this show were somehow boring, I was bored till he came in. NICE! : D
    Enjoy!
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aproveitem!

That was a big celebration Fender put on. He WAS channeling Jimi's style. Very perceptive of you. Jimi also played a Fender back in the day. Gary was the only performer that got a standing ovation that night.
Gary started out in the 70's with Skid Row, then Thin Lizzy (w/Phil Lynott), BBM, Coliseum II before going out on his own.
He is the greatest guitarist ever IMO. RIP Gary!!! Thanks for the beautiful music you left us.

A lot of the sound is because Gary is playing a Strat through a pushed Marshal (like Jimi) Gary is best known for his soaring licks on a Les Paul. Hendrix was actually a bit cleaner on this song then Gary is playing this tribute. I saw this when it was released and it is one of the best performances of Gary's career, possibly of anyone in recent years. RIP Gary Moore.

Fun fact (as Sheldon Cooper would say) is that Gary heard guitarists (especially BB King who started it) bending strings, which he loved to bits and so he spent a very long time trying to emulate them, not realizing that they were using light gauge strings while Gary himself was practicing with very heavy gauge strings. Little wonder Gary became the master of bending when he finally discovered their secret..

Gary just knew how to make a guitar talk, more so than many of the so-called greats, and often played off the cuff solos, instead of working them out. Yes,many guitarists are more technically proficient than Gary was,but none could match him with what he did. He was like another of the great guitarists of all time - the late great Duane Allman (often called the greatest white blues guitarists of all time),like Duane,Gary was a lefty, who learned how to play right handed, and in many aspects, gave him the edge. A brilliant performance here, with one of the greatest bassists of all,Nino Palladino, standing behind him just wondering if he is playing with the greatest of all time ? It's a hard call, but I'd rank Gary in my top 3,oh,and yes, you're pretty spot on with Gary picking up a lot of Jimis guitar nuances, and that was deliberate, but he brought in almost every other trick in the book to make that Fender cry.
