Hi, I'm Tom - I love board games and I've been playing...well, hundreds of them now here on CZcams so you can get an idea of what they are like to play. I explain the games as I'm playing, and I try to go through the whole game when I can. There's also a video where I give my thoughts on each game, but don't take my word for it - have a look at the playthrough and see what's out there in the wonderful world of board games!

Great video! You have a very calming voice.
We'll have to work on your pronunciation of the grapes though 🤣 Cheers

This is very helpful! I was on the fence about getting this game as I wasn't sure how entertaining the solo mode would be but I think I might get it now! Also, as an aside, the main difference between Blush and Rosé wines is that Blush wines tend to be more sweet and fruit infused, whereas Rosé wines are more on the dry, aromatic side. Not that I am a wine connoisseur...(I don't even drink haha)

Essential Edition changes the tasting room - it only gives a point when there is a wine token in the cellar

Yeah, and actually the rule was changed to prevent shenanigans like this :)

Lira and Pounds use the same stylized L as a symbol, as both names (Pounds and Lira) evolved out of terms for pounds of silver.

The normal mode Automa is a pretty brutal. Took me around five or six tries before I managed to actually win a solo game so can't say I'm surprised you lost. Keep at it, though. It is beatable and it trains you how to deal with cutthroat of players.

at 31.57 i think you should have been on 6 pts so the fill an order and get an extra point would have bumped you to 10 points. (see 24.29) ETA: though one point wouldn't have helped at the end. I enjoyed this playthrough! I would love to see more solo variants with Marty as support. This seems rather brutal solo, but I do like the way the automa pushes the player to keep up.

At 31:22 he plays a winter visitor card which causes him to lose 1 VP, thats why he went back from 6 to 5 VP on score track

Oh I haven’t played in soooooo long. I must break this out again. Thanks for doing this video, Tom!

Me too. I hit nearly 100 plays in a year, and haven't played more than a couple times since. When I play solo, I've almost never taken the tasting room-I never win with it :) Just means I haven't picked the right strategy with it ever :-P

The rulebook for mamas & papas did recommend I take the money instead of the tasting room, I should have listened :D

I have a question - you flip over a new Automa card for both Summer and WInter, but I have been using the same card for both seasons in a year (so only flipping one card per year). Am I doing it wrong? And also, if the Automa is only assigned 3 workers to begin with, if there are more spaces to block than workers available, do I as the player get to choose which spaces are blocked?

    • @slickerdrips

I think it’s a new card for each season, and I think all of their workers are available from the start because they don’t really take the actions to unlock them

Hi Tom, in Which Version from Viticulture you geht this automa normal Card with the buildings?

Hi Martin! I'm not sure about the versions that came out later, but I had the 2nd edition of Viticulture & the Tuscany that first came out

I've just realised you're using the blue player board with orange pieces...

I'm terrible for not noticing coloured player boards :D
