I appreciate your honesty in failures and ability to work past them. Thank you for your time, effort and everything you do
I second that!
Yeah and they're the same way with customers. They're honest and stand behind them.
“It didn’t break. This uhh.... Hamilton cam”
Smooth plug.
"Then I get lookin and I see the camshaft ".
"Every failure is an opportunity to build it back better" this is the perfect attitude, love it! 👍
it sucks that your truck blew up, but this video is just another example of you guys providing the best technical content on youtube. i love your videos and hope to see many more in the future, just not about blown up trucks.
I love how you refer to 1200-1800 horsepower as mild. That's just Awesome. You guys really are be-awesome (Bolt). Thank God you all walked away. My Dad used to run super-stock and it was something like this that got him out of racing. Had a front tire that was getting dodgy but thought he could push it through one more race, lack of funds for him lack of time for you. He had just finished building the car and the engine and after setting a lap record on his qualifying he lost that tire and totaled the car.
8200rpm on a Cummins?? wow.
That's scary... 158 pounds of boost going across the finish line!!! Runaways are bad as it is, but I'd be shitting a brick going 140 in one.
Absolutely amazing carnage! Glad you weren't hurt in the process. Thank you for sharing this, I really appreciated it
Thank you for responding to a question I left first time I've ever got a response. Good to see your not giving up but making it stronger lighter and faster!! Look forward to what you build
Thanks for Sharing this with us on such a personal level. The way you guys make your videos really makes you guys feel like our friends hanging out at the shop. Your level of Commitment to the diesel community is top notch. Keep up the great attitude and professionalism and you guys can do anything. great seeing your wife's support too! You guys definitely have a cold beer waiting on ya if you are ever heading threw Alabama.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I absolutely love your channel's videos. I typically never "thumbs up" a video but they're always the absolute top when it comes to production. Stay safe out there guys, next time you're in AZ I would love to watch you at wild horse pass (missed ya last time cause of work.)
You guys are seriously awesome. Love hearing you guys talk about building and tuning and racing, super chill and you guys obviously know your stuff. Can't wait to see the rebuild progress!
Heard shortly before yeeting down the line:
"Yee of little faith, behold! The 1800hp 53 block!"
AHH THE OLD 53 BLOCK.
FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE.
Best in the 12 valve game!!! Love what you guys do!!! Hell of a product and service!!!
creased at that intro, love your channel and the detail you go into. its great that you can laugh at yourselves, its one of the things that makes the channel great
Great channel guys keep up the good work
From Australia 🇦🇺
You two guys are a fabulous combination, so articulate and wonderfully understated. As an Englishman, it seems to me you could almost be English!
You guys are amazing! Thanks for doing all these videos!
Really excited to see what the future brings! I'm glad you guys are keeping a positive attitude!
Awesome that you guys do a breakdown on everything nobody else in the diesel industry drops videos like this and explain stuff happy to hear that you guys aren’t giving up on it and you guys are going to read build it can’t wait to see the next video of it starting to go back together👍👍👍
Is this Cleetus McFarland in 20 years?
Thomas.....He does look like CLEETUS
Keeping up with these guys has been a blast. I love FirePunk but I’m a Power Driven Fanboy now. I love hearing about the ups and downs and never quitting of this team.
You tested the sh!t out of those parts!! It's amazing how much pressure and power is really happening inside of these diesel engines and they hold it just fine. Like you said nothing would have held or survived the pass u did there and it was far beyond normal operating parameters but it's still crazy how much these things can take and still go. Most importantly you and everyone else came back in one piece!!
Glad you were safe. Hope you get it all figured out and it goes better. Thanks for helping us understand what happened.
All things considered an extremely impressive failure. Imagine the power it takes to crack a block in half.
Glad I found your guys channel. Love the video, it’s helpful hearing how you guys handle these situations
Wow !! Glade you’re ok. Can’t wait to see the new build.
Cant believe I found myself glued to this video of two guys talking it like it was a Tom Clancy thriller. Glad to see you walked away from this and with composure to boot.
Good job on your diagnosis. I'm glad no one was hurt.
Cool video guys, I like how in-depth you went with your analysis. Picked up a new sub!
Awesome guys can't wait to see the rebuild. Love your videos. Cheers.
Glad you guys posted this. Was interesting on why the RPMs went so high.
Thanks guys for once again a very interesting video. I've been a mechanic on a prostock tractorpulling team for a couple of years, we have a head full of knowledge, a cabinet full prizes, and a workshop full of damaged parts.
PowerDrivenDiesel kinda we had our fair share of broken blocks, cranks and bearing problems. Our biggest problem is we aren't allowed to use different castings. So block, head and crank are the weakest points. Still we push about 2500hp from a 510ci International with a single 4.8" hypermax Turbo.
Hey guys look forward to seeing you back on the track in just building my 1st 12 valve race engine and I will be putting in a mechanical air shut off thanks for test piloting for all of us!!
The way that block separated you'd think it was a John Deere! Glad you guys are OK! You're taking it really well all things considered. I can't believe the fuel would even burn fast enough to achieve 8200RPM! That's just crazy stuff right there. Thanks for the video!
@Captain MufDyven it rolled coal all the way to the BANG.... it cant have been lean :-P obviously more than enough diesel going in, which is incredible considering the boost level. That is one serious fuel system
You guys are the best. Had to show this to my friend
Thank you!
I loved this show. Best one yet. Thanks for all your insights on doubling the HP. Sorry it blew and glad you are in good health. It happens.
I have a feeling your channel is about to blow up too! Subscribed
You guys are the hands down realest in the business. Keep doing it.
Great to see you laughing a smiling about it👍🏻 great channel
glad to see the old secondgen is not going to be scrapped🤗 looking forward to it back one the track
Love the comments! love your work, video and the lesson you share!! I remember driving down Mex 1 headed south and the 66chevy truck hood releases and covers our windshield no time to think, react and pulled over, tied it down and on to Cabo!! thanks for sharing your lessons with us! got to love the power! like a 410 sprint car street legal or a twin turbo 71 camaro built many years ago(called drivers ed car)! love what you do and how you share !!! CD
Great analysis and insight on what to do and not to do. Nothing I mean NOTHING goes good when you're in a hurry. Good luck guys and will be looking for the rebuilt truck
So, about diesels not rev'ing...
Great that you didn't get hurt, and have the right attitude towards moving on.
6000rpms on a 150 lbs forged crankshaft 6bt yeaaaa.
That's an epic failure.. Parts can be replaced, people not so much. Glad your ok.. Looking forward to your next truck!!!
Just as enjoyable to watch you guys dealing with failure as you do with success. My only fear was that you would throw in the towel...no way! Hope to see your building vids soon!
Glad you weren't hurt. Great content.
years back in 70, when i worked for cummins there was a semi, with the 855 engine carrying 30 tonnes of the same explosive that blew up Oklahoma City, the truck caught fire, ammonium nitrate, when the explosive hit the burning diesel the thing blew up, story goes the detonation could be heard 100 miles away, biggest piece found was the crankshaft
Remember that news story
Glad your okay and here to tell the story. And how much for a chunk of that block I gotta have a souvenir from this... It just so violent
Man I would love to have one of those pistons for a paper weight desk ornament at work! Great video as usual guys!!!
Good explanation of what happened. I wouldn't re-use the pushrods though since they might have internal stress fractures that you can't see.
Todd has the perfect calm temperament for being a professional driver.
love your sense of humor and perspective about it all. in any motorsport. if you dont blow something up once in awile your not pushing hard enough!
Just thinking about the emergency shut off not working. Is it possible it simply couldn’t work against that 150psi boost pressure ??
Just thankful you’re ok because that could’ve been a lot worse Todd. Someone was watching over ya brother. Ya live to blow another engine up. Keep up the great informative work guys !!’
That'll buff out! You guys always set a good example for the sport.
Really glad the truck will be saved, this truck has so much potential its unreal, it just has to come together right, which I believe will happen. Thanks for the videos guys.
I am a drag racer i run a 1965 nova with a 406 in it and i have been in your shoes bringing the engin home in a bucket it sucks but that is the price we pay to play right great video guyt thanks have a great night race safe.
Thanks for the detailed explanation very interesting good luck.👍🏻🇬🇧
Thats an incredible amount of boost. I have watched the video 100 times on that engine. It never gets old
All engines pushed hard eventually show up as parts failures, but it's hard to know the limit without testing it!
@@pddofficial 146psi is incredible. When i run 30psi my toes curl lol. 146!!!😬
once bitten by the Racing Bug no Man Can Say No!! So Good to see you Smiling and however expensive it may be sharing with Us!!!! now I'll enjoy the rest of your story!! I Concur!! I couldn't have passed up the opportunity! only 2 min. into show?
So nice to hear Motörhead’s express themselves without expletives. Hammer down!
Cool vid guys!, thanks for sharing. kinda of odd i had the same thing happen about the same time hung rack. luckly i was just in my driveway and could shut my truck off with the cummins manuel. One thing is for sure i am not gonna start my engne again before i sort the guillotine ait shut off i have sitting on the work bench
No better way to see how things work than when it comes apart.
Great channel guys!!!!
your safe and the truck can be rebuilt so all good.cant wait for the next video ,good luck from the uk
great videos guys
I've been waiting to see the story hope to see that truck back together soon
Good video hope to see whats next
Spend all that time and money just so you can get the fun part quicker.
I love the channel, you are guys are doing great stuff
It’s nice to see you guys will take time out of your day to discuss the setback and future plans to us viewers
I really like the explanation of what went wrong and why...
Very nice thank you and I wish you all luck but would like to see more of the ugly truck.?
Thanks again
What a great video! Can't believe it spun to over 8k rpm
Still think you all should change your trucks name to Murphy's Law
Next time one breaks the fireball record ___
I remember watching this when the video first came out, but Man is that impressive. Bring her back
Build it bigger, better, stronger!!!!!! You guys will persevere!!
Awesome update video and can’t wait to see the truck go back together, could you guys do update videos while you fix it?!
Jeez, that's insane... Those rods are why I keep a small piece of plywood with me when starting an old diesel, because if I have to run grab something to stop it with, I ain't coming back!
Can’t wait to see the rebuild! When will you guys be posting the video of how to build a 400hp 24valve VP44?
Exploded? With you guys? No way! Who would think that would happen to you two! Lol!
That is INSANE! Goes to show what kind of force can be made from a relatively small engine now days.
Looked fun as hell ride. 👍🏻
Great attitude!
Incredible what survived.
Mechanical shut down just makes sense.
They use switches on spacecraft... Not electronics.
wondering why you dont have more subscribers? Youre the dieselkings and dont hide anything!!😊 keep on
Thank you Daniel
I work for a marine diesel engine company and we use manual air shutdowns on are engines and they work fantastic
Todd knows how to kill a Cummins for sure, with him it’s never a small catastrophe seems the engine always jumps out of the hood
Truck passes the eighth mile! Truck says, Oh No, Dude! You wanted POWER! Well here it is! Hang on!!
Michael Cuff this made me laugh
I think the deciding factor was the butterfly valve failure. That just sucks. I applaud your choice of a mechanical replacement operated by a cable. That would have averted this whole catastrophe.
You guys are the best! Glad you were unhurt Todd! And you could always send me a piece of the broken motor 😉🙏👍#racetruck2.0
@@pddofficial sounds great! I will keep an eye out and my 🤞
You guys are amazing. Great video. I drive a blown front motor dragster, and they say i'm crazy. 158# of boost? YIKES.
BTW, i tow with a turned up 02 5.9 6spd.
@@pddofficial that's amazing.
You all seem like great guys. Makes me want to get into diesel work instead of being a millwright
I can't wait to see it!
Those were some immense pressures before it blew
Glad you are OK, RIP another race track.
Love your videos!!!
Swear I heard that boom from my house lol. Glad you got out safe. Sooo bummed that RMR is shutting down. Now my racecars are for sale
Glad ya'll are ok
Don't you guys have custom billet blocks for those things? 30,000psi is getting close to rifle pressure levels! Crazy!
Cant wait to see the truck when its finished
Im glad to see that you are ok !
you made the record 100%
PowerDrivenDiesel Yes !!! always positive.....hahaha
Not drag racing related but I want one of the pacbrake or amot valves that shuts the air intake to stop a possible engine runaway situation. Always good to plan for things to fail - murphy always shows up.
