I think barbara is just too used to TSA pre-check, if you're fly internationally it's pretty common to have to do the plastic bags and to close them, wherever you are
Yeah, all the domestic flights I took pre-COVID made us close the plastic bag. They also usually have the bags there.
Beds with boxspring and frame setup are off the ground to prevent moisture buildup, if its a mattress on the ground its higher risk of mold, mildew, bed bugs, excessive dust mites, etc. A futon in Japan are often rolled up, cleaned, aired out to prevent this.
The first 15 min of this podcast felt like a subliminal message reminding me of the other podcasts - Gavin's endless notes app (F**kFace), talking about the Little Caesars Pizza Portal (FaceJam), and what the Five Guys became after it closed (ANMA)
You don't know how happy it makes me to see Kerry!! I haven't watched an RT Pod in a while and he's low-key my favorite "old school b-team" crew
With the whole bed thing, if there's no space between the mattress your mattress can get moldy. Its like airflow or something. You'd have to constantly flip the mattress over to air out each side lol
There are ways to lessen the issue though like tatami mats or washing/replacing your sheets more often.

Listening to Barbara complain about having to put liquids in a seperate bag at the airport is so weird to me, I had to do this my whole life, the only time I could keep it inside was at Amsterdam airport because they installed new scanning devices. Sorry Barb but next time check airport rules (I ALWAYS do)

As far as the televised court proceedings go, most of the time it’s for safety reasons. The Depp/Heard defamation case was open to the public, (i lived in the area where the court was) so technically anyone could just walk in and watch it happen. As far as I know they were worried such a high-profile case would draw in too many people so it was televised to deter the public from showing up (Traffic was still terrible regardless).

the sidewalk thing is european wide, not just the uk. we don't use sidewalks like if they're roads where people walk on one side in one direction and the other side for the other direction. you just walk on the sidewalk and if someone is coming in the opposite direction, one of you moves

i havent seen a RT pod in a while, but im glad i came back to one with kerry in it.
The deckbuilding game Dominion is a great example of a card game that's way better online than in person IMO. Mainly because there's so much shuffling, it's nice to have it done automatically. It's low player interaction, and when you play in person you spend so much time shuffling you barely get to watch what other people are doing. Online is much easier to follow along, which really increases the enjoyment of the game. And finally, setup time is much quicker online, so you can get way more games in the same amount of time.
i had a similar issue with LAX heading back to Australia. arrived at terminal four from PDX and headed to Tom bradley (from previous experience i had departed from that one before) i went through security there and tried checking in and was told i was in the wrong terminal and needed to be in terminal two (something to do with the time zones) they gave me horrible directions which got me lost in between the terminals internally so i ended up exiting, found the terminal and had to go through the process of checking through security again which took two hours (i had a 6 hour layover so wasn't too bad). i then spent the rest of the lay over running from one side of the terminal to the other cause they kept changing the gate. absolutely stressful experience
I'm expecting this new set to be Disneyland with the time they are taking building it.
Better help is therapy for rich people! Wish people would stop advertising it, it is absolutely NOT cheaper than going to a traditional therapist, especially in the UK. It’s despicable how much better help actually costs!

I live in a different country and yeah little Caesars almost always has 1 guy
when I was visiting England (as an American) in high-school, we were specifically told to wait on the left of the escalators and stuff. I think they do walk on the left but just don't pay as much attention to it. (also when I was in middle school they actually DID tell us specifically to make sure we stay to the right like you were driving)

I have a four bedroom house, and an air conditioned outbuilding, and my electric bill has been about $100 a month this summer. It's the Co-op minimum at other periods.
This month I started trying to "supercool" my house at night when electricity is supposed to be cheaper so the AC doesn't come on during the day. My AC has not come on during the day in weeks (got to love modern insulation). I'll see if it helps my electric bill in a few days.

I cannot remember which podcast it was, but he said that the police/security at the airport in the UK said he couldn't bring two laptop bags, and when he asked what he should do, the guy pointed his gun at one of the bags and then at the bin

With regards to the walking thing - especially in London - there's so many tourists that just stop randomly, you need to be constantly alert of where you're walking, so you just need to navigate round people. Especially if you're local here, because you know where you're going but a lot of the people you're navigating round probably don't. But we do tend to walk on the left. Which is why on escalators you stand on the right so the left side can be saved for people that are walking.
Also Fahrenheit is absolute bull.

Little Caesars is decent. The best place for me now is Nationals. Great cheese and the pepperoni is awesome. The best place ever though was Pizzaria Piccolo. It was awesome, tasted great and 2 extra large pizzas were $25 with 6 toppings. Sadly, one of the 2 people who worked there died and they closed. 😞

That and depending on what game/simulator one is using, obtaining certain cards is easier. Being able to use a virtual deck that would cost hundreds of dollars in real life is nice.

I grew up going through highschool after Sandy Hook happend. In probably 6th grade I had a dream of a shooting at my school. Ever since then I'd always be watching the doors and people in the area I am in. Just last night a formerly deployed soldier noticed I do it and commented on it.
I don't know the odds, but I count myself lucky to have never been in a real school shooting. The worst that happened was in 8th grader and a student snuck a gun on campus.
I watched as the world reacted to 20 preteens getting killed at school, and went to school unconsciously expecting the same would happen to me.
It has taken me a long time to bring myself to realize exactly how these shootings affected the culture at my schools. I can't imagine the realizations the rest of my generation will come to when they come of age. I was on the tail start of Gen Z. And I watched hundreds of my generation not even make it high school.
