You know why I like this house?… because it’s different. I like what you did/chose for the dining room. The house has a warm feel with all the wood but is also clean and crisp. I just really like it. Nice work!
I homeschooled my son. It's so nice to see the magnetic letters outside on the clothesline and allowing Maverick to learn with Dad!
The stain was a great call! While it’s still white, you can see the grain of the wood. Crisp, yet not such a formal difference! Beautiful! TYTY for sharing! ❤️❤️🙏❤️❤️

Years ago I realized it was futile to doubt your decisions. I learned to 'trust the process'. As is the norm for Ashley and Doug this room was stunning - true perfection. Then Master Maverick was handed the nail gun and I was smiling with tears in my eyes. Such a special moment. I look forward to seeing Maverick's hands-on forays as he becomes Doug's MiniMe. Having 3 double windows in any room is such a luxury. Ashley and Doug created a design worthy of being their dining room while honoring the history of their wonderful Florida home.
I agree that the walls and flooring colors are in perfect contrast. I especially love the floor; how it turned out, and the white is the best choice for trim!! I'd spend a lot of time in this room if I lived there!! Great job, guys!

Good morning, Doug and Ashley, I love your little assistance. He has a keen eye for details. Immediately, he told you the trim didn't fit. Wow!!! If this is what he would like to do when he gets older, he will be an asset to your channel and future endeavors. He will bring new ideas that will Wow the viewers. Whatever he decides to do when he gets older, his attention to detail will make a lot of difference.

** So often we see light colored walls with dark stained wood trim. It is refreshing to see the reverse. and wow does that light up that room. I love love love the windows all around also. There's no place like home guys.. What a beautiful home you have created!

I enjoy watching the journey of renovating your home so much. I can’t imagine what I’ll do when it’s finished. Hopefully, the new property will take a while to complete so I can enjoy watching you guys take something from uninhabitable to immaculate. This is my favorite CZcams channel. I’m very detailed oriented and you always go above and beyond on quality of work. Covering the walls with paper even though it’s not needed. Cleaning areas that will never be seen and finishing them to perfection. It makes the house feel so clean and inviting. I love everything you’ve done. Watching the roof replacement was amazing. No contractor would’ve done the job as well as you guys did. You share your experience with the quality of products, tools and materials, that helps me when looking for replacement windows or a new tool. You are so patient and loving with your children. You take time to teach them how to do things themselves. I don’t understand why you don’t have a million views. I’ve watched all of your videos. No matter what challenge you’ve taken on, you’ve always given 100%. If there are viewers that haven’t watched your earlier videos, I highly recommend them. I’ve watched some of them more than once.

I love all the wood. I cringe so hard when I see people paint wood, especially in older homes. It’s so beautiful, why cover it up. I just love all y’all are doing. Just gorgeous!

The freebee magnetic letters have found a home! The Laundry Lounge never disappoints in multitasking. The dining room walls look so warm in the sunshine. I really love the stain color. The white trim is a lovely contrast. Once the table is in place, it is going to be one of the best rooms in the house. Lots of windows for light and cross breezes and a lovely view of the lush greenery. Things are humming at the house. One thing about houses that are renovated top to bottom is that, often, every room looks the same. Same wall color, same flooring, etc., which makes it feel more like a showplace than a home. While you have carried a theme through the house (e.g., egg and dart, brass fixtures, etc...), every room has its unique quirks. It makes the entire house look lived in (not in a bad way) and makes it feel very homey. And thank you for an awesome video, as always.

Your dining room is looking fantastic! I think the white stain on the trim was the best choice because the wood grain is still visible and compliments the wood grain on the walls and floor.
I would have never thought white but I agree it looks fantastic. I am so happy seeing Maverick learning the trade. I used to make things to sell and my children helped me learning how to do most anything. Now they are entrepreneurs and not afraid to accomplish anything.
For the age and style house it makes sense that they put the kitchen in the back.
In the South they used to put kitchens towards the back of a house in order to keep any heat generated from cooking out of the rest of the home. If they had a window AC unit it's more efficient not having to compete with kitchen heat.

It may be a little work, but your attic space off the hall would hold those mattresses, I bet. I think you put plywood sheets down on it, right? Not sure about the boxes and what's in them. The loft storage area already has so much stuff in it. For now the best place to put the mattresses will just have to be the bus :)

Because I couldn't comment on the video of the dining room finish. I just want to say it's freaking amazing and that light fixture is like a jewelry piece. It just finishes off the room. At first. I was afraid it was going to be copper or cloth shade but wow was I ever so happy it's gorgeous, perfect size. It brought me so much happiness to see you guys sitting down for your first meal in the dining room. All finished.❤❤❤

I love how he was so serious trying to figure out filling in the nail holes. His brain was thinking one thing but his muscles were doing another but he never gave up.. I especially like the stain over paint with the trim. It's much more in keeping with the rest of the wood, and helps it flow from one colour to another.
A dining room is a much underutilised space in most homes, yet I have some of my fondest memories sitting at the dining table just talking, joking, and enjoying the company of family and friends. May you get to build as many happy memories. ❤

“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6. We had this verse on a plaque in our house to remind us and our children as they grew. We did the same as you by including and teaching them. My children do the same with my grandchildren.

One of the advantages of living in Florida is that you can work outside in November in short sleeve shirts. The living room looks great. Staining the wood softens the color and gives it more complexity. Your choice for the vertical trim is excellent.

Thanks for making these videos for us to watch your progress. I decide to go back to the beginning where you first bought the property and it really is a great transformation. I am sure there were time where you thought it would never come together, but it is. Hopefully once you get the house completed you will be able to either build or purchase a storage building/workshop for all your tools and machinery to make things.
