An area rug under the table will help with the echo
Haven't commented in awhile but I wanted to say how much I love this room! Not sure what style you're going for but this is a perfect modern country room. So sophisticated with the graphic black and white against those gorgeous walls. Congrats! And a rug and other accessories will help with the echo
A rug under the table will help with that echo. The new tabletop could benefit from oil coating.

They did the kitchen. It's not a big room. Dark walls with lighter cabinets. It's a jewel box of a room!

maybe an 8x10 indoor/outdoor rug under the table to cut down on the echo
WOW! That lamp is what you would call a "Statement Piece!" It anchors the space without overwhelming it, because of the clear nature of the seeded glass. The black metal chairs would seem out of place, but I agree that they work with the black metal of the windows. Your choice of going with the white trim toned down "the cabin in the woods" feel that the room had without it. BRAVO!!!

You're right. That makes a much better dining room than a kitchen.

Suggest you put pads under the feet of the chairs, bench and table. That will reduce damage to the floor over the years.

Sometimes it's hard to see another person's vision for something. This room was a good example but man did you nail it. It turned out absolutely beautiful and th light fixture is the cherry on top of the Sunday. ❤ Hugs

An area rug under your table would be good for several reasons. It would stop the echo and protect your beautiful floors from scratches from the table and chairs. There are some really pretty neutral rugs.
My husband wanted a rug under our dining room table when we put down new flooring and I ordered one and it is nice. He is now redoing our kitchen and he is putting down a new floor and wants a rug under the kitchen table as well.
@@sharongriffith7505 Right after I made my original comment, I got an email. Home Depot has their area rugs on Black Friday sale. We have had several of their rugs for 10 years and they are holding up beautifully.
You should have Ashley search around the Internet for a beautiful table runner that hangs down each end of the table. That will also help to absorb the echo.

Love the squared window trim. Looks sharp and clean. I think that bookcase will be perfect in that space and reduce the echo. Please show us when you put it in there. Great job as usual.
The light reminds me of the top half of a my grandmother's big oil lamp we had sitting in the middle of the kitchen table. I LOVE IT. BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES.❤

The playful excitement and pure joy in Doug’s expressions, actions and tone made me so happy. What a wonderful outcome. Perfect in every way-the window trim, the macramé wall art, topped by the furniture, which is a good fit. Love the chair bench combo, with the crown glory the light you chose. How perfect! Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners here will undoubtedly be warm, homey memory-making moments, forever remembered. I envision many happy family moments at the table, under that stunning lamp.
The light looks great. It doesn't take away from the room, or seem in the way, because you can see through it. Maybe a rug under the table to help with the echo sound. Also maybe some large live plants in the corners of the room.
Room looks really good now, Love the Table, Benches, Chairs!! That light remember the old bulbs from years ago with the Filament in the middle! ,maybe 1 of those would make it more authenic. Area rugs are a great way to add a bit of color and/or to change things seasonally, too! Also helps protect your pretty floors! Look out for good ones on your adventures to estate and thrift sales!

Doug and Ashley, I love how the dining room came together. I heard youa few times that your house was taking on a feeling of a farmhouse rather than your original vision of a home with lots of wood with the elegance of brass and early American beauty.
I watched a show on PBS called "Home for Christy: Roast Turkey." This particular episode was all about her redesign and upgrading of her home with lots of wood walls, floors and some ceilings. She used lots of brass and crystal accents. The name of the home is Swan's Nest. In the middle of all the construction work she cooked and baked her Thanksgiving meal for her family. So not only do we get the restoration but also recipes! PBS aired a rerun of this episode today, Nov. 11th. If you read this in time perhaps it will air again on one of their channels, right now it's on the PBS Create channel.

It turned out lovely, now you just need to make it homey. Placemats will protect the table finish and a nice bowl or a vase of flowers for in the middle is pretty minimalist like you both like. Just my opinion, it is your dining room.

Curtains will help with the echo. You might want to put felt circles on the bottom of all the legs to keep the floor scuff free. It's looking very good!

So happy for you guys to have that family dining room! Always a good feeling to see your design come to life! For sound absorption the traditional options are window drapes, rug, table runner, and bench/chair cushions. A really good opportunity to get creative again. Enjoy your meals!
Get some felt pads for the bottom of the leg so your floor doesn't get scratched.

The room is beautiful!! And that light is just another example of ur inspiring design style. It’s a perfect size. Being glass allows it to fit perfectly. I like the simple touches. Minimal is always best. Wondering though about the need for some fabric in the room. It will muffle the echo. Perhaps a organic fiber rug would be functional and beautiful. Looking forward to the kitchen. No I’m excited for the kitchen.

Love the whole room!! Everything is perfectly done. I really liked the before and after pictures at the end. I'm also a diyer and having those pictures to send friends when I'm finished is the best part of every project. I can't wait to see the table decor for thanksgiving dinner. ❤

Your dinning room looks really cool. I love the look of the room. Light fitting is really cool too. Nice seeing those photos at the end of your family sitting around the table and enjoyng your first meal there together. You were so smart in putting in a lot of windows into the room so you can enjoy the views while sitting there. What a lovely place to sit and relax and eat and enjoy the views from the windows. I understand why you went with metal chairs. We have a dinning room table with 6 wooden chairs, and two of them have already broken and have been thrown away. I can also picture your family members sitting there in the dinning room at different times of the day, working there and having a cup of coffee or tea there. Very nice space in your lovely home.
