That turned out so nice! Perfect match for the bed and the room. You will probably get haters who will say you ruined the mirror's value by cutting the top off, but don't listen to them. The original maker would be so happy to know that after all these years, it is still being loved by someone and would appreciate the face that you took the time to make it fit in to today's world.

I laughed about the shellac and the rug, I make mistakes like that all the time, unfortunately. Can't believe how much better cutting off the detail and adding the header board makes that mirror look. Beautiful!!
It looks amazing!!! I wasn't sure if I'd like it once you removed the decorative piece but you were right. It looks so much better and Maverick's choice of stain over paint was spot on. Loved how you shared the oops made laying the mirror down on the carpet. You could have not shares it with us and we wouldn't have known. But that's not who you are or what your channel is about. For those of us who are DIY'ers, we too have had times where our impatience has resulted in do overs. Thanks for sharing that part with us.

Judging by the age of that lovely mirror and the condition the frame is in I would guess they tried to put latex new paint over oil based old paint or finish, and it did not work. That's why you have those ridges and the paint not sticking. I think that will be perfect for your son! You did not say what color you were going to make it. It will be in just thing to see! When you put that little cap piece on top the mirror suddenly looked as if it had always been that way. It looks really good.
The mirror looks really good in Maverick's room. On camera it truly looks like the mirror is coming out of the wall and not hanging on the wall. Great and creative idea on the gap on the back.
When I was a poor student I found 3 beautiful frames set out for the trash man. Scrubbed them spray painted it bronze and used a special spray to mimic mercury glass. 11dollars total cost to bring my living room to life and best part they did not go to land fill. Blessings forward!
What I love is it looks like the one in Bell's room, but it is a castle look for a little boy. It is perfection. Peace!

You couldn't have found a more perfect mirror for his room. At first the part you cut off at the top did remind me of a castle but after you put the flat piece on made it look neater. Turned out perfect color and placement. Great job. I really enjoyed this video too.

When you took the backing of the mirror and I saw the the white 'pad' on the back I momentarily thought you'd found an original copy of 'The Declaration of Independence' or maybe a Picasso or some such other amazing find. Ahh well, not this time. lol
You guys were spot on in removing that upper "french" detail. Simple, clean lines makes the mirror stand out so nicely. What a great addition to Mavericks room! Nice work

It looks fantastic. New mirrors are crazy expensive!. Ten dollars for that mirror was a great purchase. I'll bet he takes it with him throughout his life and he'll tell the story of his ten dollar mirror and how his Dad fixed it and then boogered it up and fixed it again. Luv you guys.
