    Another pro tip for everyone : SLEEP and EAT HEALTHY. It literally regulates your mood and energy. Cater to the basic necessities of life first and find a mindful outlet for stress. Also, I'm a super drained 5 and you're right! I need to declutter my schedule and cut back on my youtube binging of all the interesting things in my watch later. 😅😅

      …of course I know this, but still starve myself when I’m too tired to make food and then I wonder why I’m tired all the time. 😂

      I too skip meals and sleep but I'm trying to remind myself that it's more important than whatever i see as important in the moment. Humaning is hard 😂😂

    I’m a type 4 and this is completely accurate. When I’m burnt out, I want a hug (or sympathy), but yet I want to be left alone. I shut down and get weepy and even quieter than I already am. My restorative rest is drawing and painting, either alone or with friends. Doing something creative is that you enjoy definitely helps.

    As an enneagram 9, I can reach burnout incredibly fast, but that normally stems from me working how I think others want me to or how I think I should be working. I get down when I can’t measure up.
    Point is, it’s best to know yourself and work at the pace that’s best for you. This is something I’m still learning as I’m only 21, but I’m getting there.

    I'm a 5 and I'm just recently seeing what life can be like when I'm healthy. One of the big things has been cutting down on commitments. The time that I get to spend alone at home is priceless and with that confidence I gain in those times, I can come out of my office and face my wife and daughters. It's hard to give that stuff up because I want to believe that I got my stuff together even though I know I don't. I've been frequently burning out in the last 2 years....now with alot of self discovery and growth, I see myself operating on the high side of 8 and that's encouraging. Thanks again for your videos

    The 9 is accurate (especially feeling like you're forgetting something - my short-term memory becomes so terrible when I run out of fuel), but those that hit closest to home were the 3 and 5 somehow. When I start burning out, I do exactly those things you described: I occupy myself with trivial busiwork just to get a sense of accomplishment, while simultaneously overfilling my schedule with unfulfilling work that goes against my actual goals. My patience thins, so my anger gets all over the place despite being usually pretty stoic and easygoing, and I self-isolate so I don't explode on someone. Instead of doing the things I enjoy and make me feel fulfilled, I turn to social media, phone games, drinking and Netflix. So I feel like I'm always running despite accomplishing nothing, never really resting, and going to the grocery store becomes my greatest accomplishment of the week because it's actually useful 😅
    Making sure to prioritize my own wants/goals has been critical to get out of that state, even if sometimes that means asking for help. Remember to always take care of yourselves and to go for the things that matter to you! It's not selfish; it's vital, and ultimately, it's the only sustainable solution. 🙂

    As a type 2, I get aggressively passive aggressive when I’m burnt out and it’s so weird. Cause I’m usually not like that, I’m always nice and fun- but then when something upsets me and I push it down to be nice, it eventually comes out in some way. Especially seeing how the people around me are surprised when I’m aggressive is a reminder that maybe I need to check in with myself.

    Type 4, and this is definitely me. I want to be alone, but then I feel really sad when no one seems to notice or be concerned that I’m alone. Confuses my husband like crazy 😅 me too haha.
    Honestly, just scrolling through Pinterest and finding inspiration for future crafts, sewing projects, home decor, etc. is a type of restorative rest for me. I don’t even have to DO something creative. Just find creative inspiration.

    As 9w8, I totally get the 9 one and also the 8 being, "The only one I can rely on is myself," during burnout. It's amusing to me because I once joked, "I wonder if 9w8s disintegrate to unhealthy 6w5."

    Type 9 here! My boyfriend asks me often to take a break when I get into my burnout cleaning frenzy. If I take a break I'll never get back up and finish what I was doing, and I'll forget where I left off and then suddenly become overwhelmed with the schedule I've made for myself 😂

    Type 1, and I feel seen. Definitely struggling with procrastination and the temptation of numbing rest right now. Particularly online shopping. My goals and changes I want to make this year feel overwhelming, probably because I’m such a perfectionist and my goals are lofty…

    I’m also a 3 and I feel like we are the same person. The shame from vegging out and shutting down further isolates me. My goal for the month of January is finding a healthy way to relax and find peace with not always being productive. 💛

    As an 8 I have learned to let the today self help the tomorrow self. Preset the coffee pot. Set the Roomba robot vacuum and that instapot. Then with dinner pre- made I “gifted” myself with the time to go for a jog. Jogging quite literally chases away the negativity for me. When you slide backwards and don’t trust others to offset the work load. Presetting and auto timers on what I can still let’s me keep to my exact schedule while allowing myself some slack. Thank you for saying this.

    Im a 2w1 and the holidays were a big mix of both burnouts, Yay! Saturday was the first time in a month that I finally allowed myself real relaxing rest... to do whatever I wanted and Nothing stressful.... it was like a 37 hour day, everything dragged on so lazy-like, very needed lol. I also felt guilt for doing it but told myself I shouldn't, since I had gotten everything done.

    My boyfriend is a 9 and when he's stressed he is paranoid that he forgets something. It's so different from me (I think I'm a 8 but not sure) I never forget anything, but when I'm stressed I want everyone to go away and I find the most hidden place in my apartment (in my childhood it was my wardrobe) and eat there much food. I like watching people and cars listening heavy metal when I'm stressed, I watch what they are doing or read Wikipedia or some other information on x2 speed to think faster to block my own thinking

    I definitely fall into the drained 8 (I'm a wing 7, so I felt some of that too) Haven't done my early gym regimen and since there are a lot commitments I do try to isolate but don't give myself much rest :/ but we're chugging along!

      I've been wondering whether I'm an 8 or a 3. Holy fucking shit I'm an 8 - feeling this sort of "cowardice", like i simply can't take anything on right now so i just need to hide and watch, is so fucking accurate. DEFINITELY not "mindless business", I literally want to do NOTHING but retreat and think.

    Abbey! I am obsessed with your channel but this is my first time leaving a comment. 💕 I love the energy of your videos and the content is spot on! My whole life I thought I was a 4 - but that was because my mom told me I was a 4 when I was a teenager. I realized watching your videos that I'm actually a 6!! Huge aha. The dizziness and shortness of breath you listed for a 6 - spot on! When I burn out, I experience anemia (because of adrenal burn out) and the shortness of breath is the worst. I've been recovering from this for a month now. Thank you for suggesting mind mapping!! Sounds perfect. Also...my partner is a 5 and...literally. spot on!! I've seen it in action lol.

    Burnout hit me hard for me this month. For me, I had to establish this boundary at work aka "calling in sick."
    And since I didn't have time for my usual creative outlets like novel writing, I started writing fanfiction.

    I think this video may change my direction of thinking ... since I learned about the enneagram several years ago, I have been convinced that I am a 9. But in my younger years I was very achievement oriented, and also very good at reading people to display a personality that would please them. I think I'm actually a 3 in chronic burnout. Since I watched this, I have been exploring the possibility, and I think it might help me find a little footing ... so thanks for giving me what might turn out to be some game changing insight!

    I'm still always so confused on whether I'm a 4 or 9, and these videos always seem to add to the confusion because I relate to both of them so much. Trying to figure it out during a pandemic probably isn't the wisest when most of the things that I used to enjoy have been taken from me, resulting in me becoming a hermit that has zero desire to clean up his environment because...who cares, it won't affect anyone else, it just hurts me... But, I don't feel a "burn out." I just feel like the things that used to give me joy and inspire me are gone, while financial struggles and a pandemic further inhibit me trying to pursue new things. It's like I've come to terms with the fact the life is mundane and I need to be okay with it. Netflix and video games are the only things left that I have, but that's okay, right?

      Ever heard of tritypes? A Tri-Type consists of a gut, heart, and head type - in any order.
      For example, you could have a dominant 9 which is a gut type, an auxiliary 4 which is a heart type, and then one of the head types in the tertiary (third) place. The head types consists of 5,6, and 7. The heart 2,3,4. The gut 8,9,1. You can only have one of each, supposedly - but you can also have a wing. The wing has to be the number either before or after another number. So, for example, let us say your Tri-Type is 486 (4 heart, 8 gut, 6 head). The 4's Wing would have to be either 3 or 5 because those numbers come before and after 4. So, 4w3 or 4w5. So, you could be, for example, a 4w3-8w7-6w5. Also, for 9, since there's no type 10, the wings for 9 would be 8 and 1.

And as a 3 to a 3, regarding last week's video on birthdays...I used to feel the same as you do and kind of get bummed out during a birthday, but then realized that was just nonsense. Because seeing people live a wonderful life and being grateful for it, is really a huge privilege that we get another year and another year, etc. Perspective. 🤗😍🎉🎀

      That, and making an unpleasant, daunting task (interacting with people) more fun by integrating something interesting/stimulating into it (theory, classification and data gathering) like one might make their cat eat meds by hiding them in peanut butter
      ...also, the things that matter probably matter exactly because they are both non-obvious & important to keep in mind regardles

    Easier said than done lol. What a nifty response to have "I feel overehelmed lets take even more lectures this semester!" Not like the others are better
    Also re creative outlets Looking back I notice that when I slip I havent been writing and when I write I dont slip but the more im behind on other commitments the more it feels like i should do those instead. Maybe I havent been appreciating its significance as like my main emotional outlet. i dont think i was fully appreciating that connection until revently.
    Same with kicking back with non work books, though its a reliable battery filter.
    Insert something about minimizing needs & stuff
    I though i had a handle on this but its always embarassing to discover how much might still have been unacknowledged
    Also re the six one, my sister definitely gets into this exact "im responsible for everything" mode....
    6 has a huge range but sometimes it seems like whatever friends youte basing your 6 act on is *exatly* the same flavor as her somehow, excellent Isabel Face(tm)

    I tested as a type 5 and I'm in burnout because of years of no hires for all the jobs I've been applying for. Literally broke, have never qualified for aid, and I'm so exhausted trying with no results. Maybe I'm not a 5.

    Are you familiar with tritype?
    I worked with Fauvre briefly and she says 6w5 is my primary type but that 2w1 is my secondary type and 9w1 is my tertiary type, and that means I have "The Good Samaritan" tritype.

    I'm not sure that advising 5s to act more in personality is going to be helpful long term. 5s are already withholders, we're already hyper aware of how much we're doing and how much we CAN do. Cutting back even further only feeds the illusion that we are not/do not have enough to engage with the world.

    As a type 1 who consistently gets burnt out. I have noticed that I just rarely physically sit still or sit down. Especially if I feel like I need to get something done.
    However, walking around doesn’t help me at all and only contributes to energy loss that could have been used somewhere else. It’s a hard lesson to learn for me to simply sit still and allow myself to rest when my body is asking for it and try to not just stew in negative feelings about not getting stuff done.
    Also, naps. Take naps. :)

      Noted: Naps and stillness for Type 1s. What are some things that could help facilitate stillness? Sitting in a pretty location?

      Type 1 here, and yes, we need stillness so badly, and I’d say especially mental stillness. When I am at burn out my mind goes at rapid fire into a constant mental checklist of things to do, with some resentment and feelings of isolation there usually too. I need to shut off all unnecessary responsibilities, quiet my mind, and then take some time to mentally let myself and others off the hook.

      Right now I'm very much in the middle of burnout and yes I've been doing a lot of numbing rest but trying to transition into restorative rest.. long hikes, playing guitar outdoors, sitting by a river... also just colouring & doing puzzles... as I transition I'm trying to get back into more psychology type books on audible rather than Netflix... journaling, my resolution for the new year is going to be more time with Jesus... not to empower and lead me to my next mission as much as just filling myself so full of His rest that I finally have the energy to pursue my next mission again.
      I'm so emotionally burnt out the only way to even sit through church is with my colouring books.. usually I like to take notes but my head space isn't that productive right now. So colouring it is.

    Can a 6 also look like a type 9's burnout? I.e. just look like an unhealthy 6?

    Uhm…. I relate to types 1-6. As in, they’re all true for me in the last 3 years. I THINK I’m a 1 but thought I was a 3 for many years. Now I’m thoroughly confused!!!

    What happens with a person who has Dissociative Identity Disorder? Would each identity have a different number? Thanks. I always feel like I have this disorder and I do feel like several numbers describe me.

      This is definitely something to talk to your therapist about! I am not professionally trained in that field and I feel like a professional who knows about DID would have value to give to you.

    This was so helpful!! Thank you!! 🥹 As a type 1, my therapist had to *assign* restorative rest as HW bc he knew I wouldn’t otherwise do it. He told me to incorporate more play, and these have been very healing and restorative.

    To me none of those sound like burnout iy sounds more like depression
