    Something that helps me as a 4 sleep more regularly is to write out all the things I want to do tomorrow because I know I’ll have more fun and be more productive doing them if I’ve slept well. And it’s best to start with just 1 goal a day then work your way up to three. Time management is the BEST and most LIFE CHANGING skill a 4 can gain. Ultimately, a four just has to believe organization will benefit them and make it work in their own way. Also having a simple but flexible nighttime routine is also helpful. Brush teeth is an every night thing and then it’s up to me if I want to watch a movie, do some yoga/meditation, snuggle my cat, or listen to music. But I usually just chose the one or two things while leaving everything else til tomorrow. ❀

    I’m a type 4 who sticks to a pretty consistent sleep schedule. I think it’s because all my friends (actually, most people my age I interact with) have terrible sleep schedules, so my inner desire to be ‘unique’ and ‘special’ motivates me to sleep early and consistently. Yes, it’s kind of a stupid reason to have, but hey, it works, at least for me lol.

  • @benjaminfast5496
    @benjaminfast5496 Pƙed 2 lety +24

    I think I'm a 9w1 and this is spot on. I've spent hours scrolling Facebook and realize I've done nothing with my evening. I'm not so much on social media anymore, so it's mostly binging Netflix shows or CZcams, also playing video games.
    Also, I could also relate to 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7. It's definitely a 9 thing to relate to almost every other type. It's honestly why it has taken be 2 years to figure out my type (and I still question it almost every day. Lol.) I mostly consider I could be a happy 4, or a more chill and non-risk taking 7.
    As a 9 goes to 6 in stress I could relate to 6 in a negative way. I don't like spoilers for ANYTHING though. Sometimes I will google if a character is returning for the next season or whatever but if I come across a spoiler I hate it. I think, though, when I'm feeling stressed, I like to watch something I'm familiar with, something nostalgic where there aren't any surprises, like a TV show I loved as a kid or one of my favourite movies. So I think that need to be "familiar" is when we are stressed. Especially when trying to make big life decisions. How I can come to a conclusion when I'm uncertain of the outcome!?

    • @AbbeyHowe
      @AbbeyHowe  Pƙed 2 lety +4

      ooh, what an interesting observation about the longing for familiarity when we are in stress. I definitely find myself looking for those comfort shows (like Friends or Gilmore Girls) when I'm having a rough week because I don't need to be super active while watching. There's no surprises!
      The question of coming to a conclusion amidst uncertainty is a big one, and an important one. One thing I learned from therapist Doug Friedman (of the Your Mental Breakdown podcast) is asking yourself this when you're facing anxious, unknown situations:
      *"Is this thing really unsafe or does it remind me of a time that I felt unsafe. And if it did, can I also remember that I got through it."*
      Hope that helps!!?

    As a type 8 that is 100% me. When I delegate I often feel like the task would’ve been done quicker and better if I had just done it myself. The only thing I would add is being too blunt that you border on rude (unintentionally in most cases).

    • @AbbeyHowe
      @AbbeyHowe  Pƙed 2 lety +2

    Type 1 made me cringe, because that's my main type. The thing is, I hate to be micromanaged but yeah, I do micromanage others' mistakes.
    Type 4 hit me hard because that's my stress path. My sleep schedule would be way more chaotic if I was a full-time writer and didn't have my remote work. Easy to wake up on time when your salary depends on it lolz.
    Type 9 was also hard to watch because that's my wing type but instead of scrolling (I'm hardly on social media these days) I numb out binging CZcams and Netflix.

      @cmpicha2934 Pƙed 2 lety +2

      I totally agree with you on this (also type 1 wing 9). The other problem with using CZcams to numb out is that eventually it turns into stress watching because the inner critic starts yelling at me about not getting things done 🙃
      Also after seeing the 9 first and finding it so relatable, I suddenly got worried that I mistyped myself but then lol'd at the type 1 for how accurate that is. If I'm so afraid of being wrong about my type, that's probably another good indication I am indeed a 1 and my test was right and it's fine, haha.

      @@cmpicha2934 Wanna hear something funny? I totally mistyped as a 1w9. After having doubts about my type (and a shameful back-and-forth rigmarole of tests where I got type 3 and then type 4), I discovered that I'm a 4w5. The type 1 is still in there (stress/growth path) and what I thought was type 9 numbing out is actually detachment to preserve my resources (type 5). The key for me was the interpersonal coping styles (which Abbey mentioned in one of her videos): Type 1s are compliant and move towards people while type 4s are withdrawn and move away from people. That's what I do! In the beginning I thought I was a type 4 but had doubts when I tested as a type 1. But test results have been all over the place depending on my mood when taking it. To be fair, I've only taken one test and it was about a month ago (I think). But after digging deeper into my type, everything just clicked and explained a lot (and if I compare the 1 to any other type, I still find the 1 sounds more like me). I'm an enneagram 2 core, and I have 3(well 4) main habits. First I'm very paranoid about losing things(either objects or relarionships) this makes me always check my bag and belongings. This also makes me overanalayse a lot of things my friends or people I care about say or when they say they want to "talk to me about something". Oh and yeah I expect a lot of things from them too as well. Second I talk to myself a lot when I'm at home or outside. This is because I get really bored easily(maybe because I have enneagram 7 in my tritype) and I just want to express and ramble to someone but I don't always have someone to ramble to that will listen to the stuff I say except myself haha. This could also be due to how I was very socially neglected before or how I hang out with a lot of talkative friends that don't really listen to what I have to say or react the way I wanted. Third I say sorry wayyyy too much like I keep saying sorry to people for the littlest things even when it's their fault! This could be because I have enneagram 9 in my tritype as well or maybe because I got bullied severely when I was younger so yeah. Lastly I fiddle with my hair a lot but I don't think that has any meaning other than maybe I get nervous and bored a lot lol.

I'm also an empath and I get drained by too much busyness, especially if I'm in a crowd or with people who drain me. Do I need time out. The trouble is when I 'fall asleep' to myself, get into that apathy state of mind, or too much time spent being who other people want me to be or in playing that role I think I should be playing. That's scarily accurate... As a type 8, I never delegate things or I try not to only because I'm toxic if I do... Like I'd constantly check if they do it right or remind them they shouldn't do it like that or even wait for them to finish and start over in order to be less rude but some can also think it's even worse so idk...
    And like one of my worst habits that wasn't mentionned in the video but people remind me of it EVERY DAY is that I order people around. I'm not even aware of it, I just do it because it's practical and quick but there are always people telling me "You don't have to give me orders you know" and that's when I realise but that's usually too late. (And the irony is I CANT STAND people doing that to me).
    Just like in the video I tend to give my unwanted opinion every time I feel I need to just say it 💀I think the worst thing is not being able to NOT tell people they're wrong. I just can't or whenever I don't knew them and I try to keep my mouth shut they just can see my face cause I'm an open book especially when I disagree.
    An other one (not mentionned) is that I'm loud and my presence too (if it makes sense?) I can't help it, people always tell me that and so it's easy for me to just step on others in the way I speak for myself and not listen to them, give them the time to talk too. Fortunately I'm very aware of this trait and I'm only like that when I'm highly stressed out and unhealthy.
    Finally and to go with the one before, when I'm focused on one thing and I know how and when to get it done, you can't tell me anything that would make me change my mind. Even if I'm wrong, I'm gonna have to try and be wrong and start again, but I will not consider an other opinion as I'd think mine is the best 🙃

    need help/advice with my wing. I am a 5 with...a wing...lol...Now, I am more confused what the wing is because I definitely do the main things from both 4 and 6. But, especially, the spoiling movies for myself. As soon as think I have an idea where the movie/show/series is going, I will search spoilers and pester anyone I know whose already seen it. However, as a 5, there are certain things I can't stand when people spoil. But, have some huge projects have been prepping, researching, and overlearning for my company, and I can't launch certain things because of it. So think that ties into the always trying to do things better. There is always a better way in my head, but I am pretty creative I would say, and I think the 4 side ties into that and I can't go to sleep before 3-4am. Then I force myself to wake up at 11:30am. But, I am not a fan of social media acceptance things. I would never compare myself to other reels or anything. I only scroll through what I like and that isn't for long because there is a guilt that would flush through me for wasting time.
