RoboBiggles and his multi-national crew, fly the B17

- FPV maiden of the HobbyKing B17 "Ye Olde Pub".
To skip the intro tour of the aircraft, go to 1 minute for the flying sequences.
Set-up for those interested:
Pilot cam is a Mobius 1 on a lens extension cable. Navcam and turretcam are 808 #16 v3s - also on lens extensions. Waist cam is another 808 #16 v3 on a long lens extension, but does not transmit inflight - just records a fixed aspect video. The 3 transmitting cams can be switched by the pilot inflight using a HobbyKing 3 way video switch.
The rotating turret was designed for 3d printing by Tom Hunt, and printed for me by Tom Connors. I also made one of Tom Hunt's fully functioning ball turrets with live-feed camera. It was excellent - better than the top turret, but I had to abandon it to stay below the UK's critical weight limit of 3.5kg, exceeding which would have meant I had to lose head-tracking to allow a buddy pilot to use the trainer port.
I did a video on wiring up the cameras and camera switch, which you can even use on a plane that you fly normally (LOS). Here is a link for those interested.

The details of this bird just blows my mind. Great job.
That was amazing, with the right sound track you would almost think it was real, thanks for the time and skill put in.
Thanks I appreciate that. Try my B17 formation flying video for realistic sounds. czcams.com/video/AXpyhPXRuRo/video.html Had a few comments this week so I guess it's been reposted somewhere - can I ask where you saw the link? I'm curious about where it has been reposted since it has had so much interest!
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY REALLY,AMAZING JOB WITH A BEAUTIFULL W/BIRD!!YOU HAVE SOME SKILLS CAPTAIN BIGGLES,A TRUE MASTERPIECE IN DA SKIES!!
I've just come over from the Model Squadron - all of your videos hold me fascinated and spellbound. Thank you so much.
I grew up around De Havaland's (later Hawker Sidley) in the late 50s and 60s. My Dad was a project engineer so I recon you can tell how much I am in awe of your efforts. Regards Tony Sadler South Wales uk.
Why thankyou Tony - that is a handsome complement!
We are living in the greatest moments of life right now
remarkable build to take a foamy to this level of detail. Ribs and all, very impressive built! Then to risk this level of detail and commitment to an FPV flight. Hat off to you sir!
Imagine people shooting at the rc plane with a fully auto .22 tracer round machine gun 😎
The camera just captures it all
awesome thanks for posting
Absolutely brilliant! The attention to detail, even the wiring bundles is amazing! Reminded me so much of my ride in the late 909, some years ago... 😇
That freaking ROCKED!!! Great period music also. Watching your video put me in the left seat flying a wonderful B-17, Wow how cool is that 😊!!!
Thanks,
Thanks John - may I ask where you found the video link? I guess it has been reposted somewhere recently.
Love your attention to detail, really sets your videos apart from the rest.
The coolest RC out there! Thank you for posting!!!
Excellent atmospheric video three cheers 😎
109's 5 o clock High!!! Damn that was cool. Thanks for sharing!!!

I really enjoying this one🛫📹
Very nice, loved the detail inside, and all the crews viewpoints. Thanks for including the cameras used.
All that work! Bloody brilliant stuff, love it.
SO good!!! Amazing work! You must feel very proud and rightly so... Massive effort! A pioneer of this level of FPV greatness! I hope to see it in the flesh one day and am looking forward to more videos!
Brilliant,well done.
Fantastic, keep um coming, just gets better with every vid
All-some n' then-some!!
Wonderfully bonkers !

Jolly well done!
Amazing build man. Thanks for sharing
Looks like tons of fun! Well done, Sir!
I just don't know how you fly it like that, it's amazing. Thanks
Simply amazing!
STUNNING JOB!!
Quality m8! Respect!👊
loved that m8 well done
love your video...now is need a fighter escort and a few jerries Messerschmitt...and epic Mephis Belle scene..
Nah prob be p51 to be realistic because the b17 is a American plane and so is the p51
Best fpv video I have seen to date, you win Sir!
Hammer. Awesome.
Great flight and editing. All the crew views while flying over Germany on the latest bombing run!
brilliant
That's very cool
Great project!
Brilliant!!!
Astonishing! :-D
Thanks Tim - we'll get you aboard for a flight next time.
if you maxed that out and used airsoft on the turrets, this would make for an awesome rc battle or magpie defence
Great job! You are the KING of interior detail and video quality! You should sell complete packages of finished aircraft, as they are the best I've seen. Can you list your goggles and video transmitter? I am assuming that was live streaming video, as you were flying from the cockpit... I would love to have that video quality. Any chance of posting instructions for hooking up the Mobius lens?
This may be what you want Richard - the Mobius goes into the third port (unused in this video) on the Turnigy switch. The lens extension cables used can be bought from any registered Mobius or 808 reseller and are simply plug and play with the stock lens. Unplug the lens plug in the extension, then plug the lens in on the other end of the extension. czcams.com/video/fW7ZaNmVGOI/video.html
Use a 360 camera so viewer's can scroll around and look at anything we want the entire flight 🤔🙄 That would be awesome Although it was pretty dang cool ✌️
How much camera you want ?
Yes...
So.. How did you manage to shrink that plane? ☺️
Antman did it
any chance of a build description
This may be a start John, I'll see what I can do on the rest. czcams.com/video/fW7ZaNmVGOI/video.html
Please, turn off the music, and let we hear the engines and the wind blowing.
Here you go Carlos - version with no music once the plane takes off... czcams.com/video/DkH8a0Fc0YA/video.html
Next step buy two Messerschmitt 109's and equip everything with bb guns
Add bombing targets make teams and have fun
Money well spent
