When I was a kid (14 or 15 years old at the time, I am 62 now) I was fascinated by flight and RC models. I imagined this very thing, but quickly realized that cameras were just way to large and heavy to do something like this. It is so amazing to see EXACTLY what I dreamed of being able to do come to be. I find this just so amazing.
It’s a great time to be in the RC hobby, where the ease of using electric power and miniaturization of high definition video transmission are coming together to make this kind of flying possible.
I can tell exactly the same story. I'm 68 now and my dreams have come thruu.
@@snoopy-XV208 Yeah , it would amazingly cool.
@@snoopy-XV208 there's a video of a train perspective (moving through a diorama set) with giant cat chasing & pouncing on it.
HA! Yep, same thing here!
Flying a model aircraft like this has always been a dream of mine.
Very impressive! I think it’s the next evolution in RC flying!
Thanks! I hope so. I find it an affordable and safe alternative to GA flying and still gain stick and rudder proficiency. I have made mistakes that would have been fatal had I been in a real plane.
POV will revolutionize RC flying. It's truly the wave of the future.
Adding another perspective to enjoy RC flying. So people can fly from 3rd person view and 1st person view. Getting more utility from each plane🙂
The first time I have seen head tracking, what a neat way to fly the plane. It is as close to actually flying as you can get. Super immersive.
An incredible way to "experience" flying! It seems like you had better than normal control over the plane, being able to see for yourself how the plane is reacting. Now, if you can get air speed in the HUD.
Flying from cockpit, one naturally gravitate toward using lower rates for more precise control, like flying in a real plane. Airspeed is useful, but can be easily displayed in the goggles (OSD).
Brilliant work, nice footage enhanced by the very informative (live) commentary. Thank you for uploading.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The future of flight sim and flight training.
Probably the coolest RC modifications I've ever seen. Well done sir! 👏👏👏
Only thing it needs now is some Airsoft machine guns.
I was heavily into RC from the mid 70s to the late 90s. I mounted instamatic cameras in planes and thought I did something. This is way beyond that. I always imagined this sort of thing and glad it is available now. Just from what I see, when it comes to landing, it is much easier to judge speed and sink rate standing on the ground. Definitely going to take some practice looking through the cockpit. Well done. Makes me want to get back into it.
It’s a great time to get back in. I started RC flying in the 90s and never really got good at tuning nitro engines. It was always scary twisting the needle valves next to fast revving props. Deadsticks were frequent. After a 20 year hiatus, got back in and fly electric only, never looked back🙂. It’s so much more convenient now to fly. Just grab the plane from the car. Put in a battery and go fly. No messing with fuel, tuning, no worries about stepping on someone’s frequency. No cleaning fuel residue on plane after you finish flying. And now with the advent of miniature FPV systems, you get to enjoy flying from another perspective, so can use an RC plane to practice full scale piloting skills. Multiplying the utility of each plane. You will love it🙂
This is perfect when you don't want to see your own beautiful airplane flying, good job.
Fact! I guess you can say the same about air show pilots. I do enjoy seeing my friends' planes real close in formation and dogfights while the rest of the peanut gallery enjoy the show we put up. I also enjoy line of sight flying, too. Twice the utility for one plane🙂
Spitfire, without doubt is the most beautiful of all planes
I know that you know that I know that you know that you need a clearer canopy like the front glass which is mint. ❤
That's the coolest thing the kid inside me has seen in a long time! Awesome!!!
Absolutely brilliant. The best RC video on the net and the future of the hobby. Next best thing to actually flying.
Wow, thanks!
the future of air races without risk
Yea please
I need this. This is probably the closest I will ever get to actually flying.
This is what I dreamt of as a kid but we did not have anything near this then. I love it.
POV drones and all that are cool, but this is cooler IMO
This is super cool. The next best thing to owning and operating a real aircraft, which is beyond the reach of most people nowadays.
That’s the idea😁
Woah, I didn't realize the RC airfield near Holy Jim was still around. Awesome setup.
*EDIT
Nvm, didn't realize there was a second airfield near the lake.
That's awesome.
Great experience
Absolutely amazing!
Fantastic, I would make the cockpit bubble entirely in transparent acrylic to improve viewing and the experience. Congratulations on the device.
First time i saw head tracking used with a camera in this manner.
It is impressively smooth. Nice work! :)
Thank you! I do strive to fly realistically. I think the lower rates of turn and precision does make FPV videos more enjoyable to watch.
This is really cool. My daughter is actually working on getting her personal pilots license and is also in the Air Force. Hopes to pilot a real jet one day. But while shes working on all that she would probably love to give this a try. Ill have to send her this video.🙂
That’s awesome and great to hear. There’s a severe shortage of pilots both commercially and in the military, so her future is bright! This is a relative in-expensive way to blow off steam doing risky flying that would not be advisable doing in full scale, while still honing skills that can translate well🙂
Wow. REALLY cool footage. Thanks for posting that. Great flying.
Glad you enjoyed it
That’s an interesting idea doing a Ray Hanna flying under a bridge ..The Winston Bridge….loved the reflector gun sight view….great flying
The reflector sight is a great enabler for precision flights and would be essential for the under-bridge stunt🙂
Absolutely wonderful!
This is really really awesome
That is insanely cool, well executed. Congrats
Thanks a lot!
Fantastic video!
Oh,Man!That is soooo cooool!
Thanks!
That is so cool!
that was awesome. good job and thanks for the ride!
You bet!
Love this!! I would suggest you make a highly detailed and refined cockpit, as it is in every frame!
Cheers!
Sorely needed! Thanks for the suggestion.
That was FUN!!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching, cheers!
Great flight. Really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
Thanks for watching, have a fantastic weekend🙂
Best FPV video I've seen yet. The head tracking is amazing. Nice flying BTW!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Low altitude fpv is so fun your amazing
That looks great, you guys don't know how lucky you are to have this tech. In my day of R.C.,Balssa wood frame solar shrink sking or cloth and dope,3months to repair a wing, this is great
I built my first Balsa kit plane, a Supersportster 40, 1990, took three weeks, day and night. Crashed in 10 minutes, even using buddy box with an instructor. So I do know what it’s like🙂
Thank you for your beautiful flight video.
Thank you for watching, cheers!
Wow, just wow!
really nice
That is very cool!
Thanks!
This has literally been a dream of mine since before FPV was a thing.
You guys Rock! This is some BadAss stuff! Thx for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cool stuff, Bob.
Thanks man!
This was so cool! Great job.
Thank you!
Love the gunsight!
Me too!
Looks fantastic!
Thanks!
This is just incredible! Wow!
That’s my childhood dream!
Thanks for uploading
Mine too!
Me three! This is like fulfilling a dream my friends and I had in the 1970’s - this and self propelled (electric) bicycles 😊
Man that is so awesome!!! Way better then the old way lol
What a great flight!
Thanks Rick!
So that was cool. Not into RC planes or VR headsets but was mesmerized through the whole video.
Yeah, as you said, a more transparent cockpit is needed. That would give some pretty amazing footage.
Nicely done.
....what this person said is exactly what i wanted to say. hahahahhaa good stuff.
excellent
Looked cool 😎
Imagine taking off outside your house going inside the living room for a comfy seat while you go on a flight! Then back outside when landing! Possible one day ? Lol anyway this is amazing to watch !
Could be done now if one has a runway outside the house🙂.
@@motionsic 😂 very true, What range do these fly ? I understand normally you had to rely in keeping it in sight. But with this it gives you a lot more freedom to go further? I understand different models have maybe varying ranges. Love the channel
@@Aragorn62 I don’t fly far. But people that go the distance use ELRS control and visuals go for 10km or more with third party antenna.
@@motionsic Wow amazing to know you can do distance like that.
ad the sound from a Merlin V12 🤘
Good idea!
Great flying 👌 👍
Thanks, cheers!
That is very impressive.
Thanks!
What am I seeing here 😮Omg 😲 that is truly Amazing and Wow what a video, you could work for the RAF and you could spy on the Enemy 😊 Subbed and liked 👍my friend 😁
That was absolutely terrific and by the amount of View there are a lot of people who agree. Where else would you get those sort of experiences, I mean I know its a model but it is easy to forget that watching your footage and a big well done for not doing a perfect landing on your first try 😂More please.
A big thank you for the encouragement. Will do!
Cool!
very awesome
Thanks!
the future of air races
dude. amazing!
Thanks man!
Awesome
Reminds me of flying my own FPV Spitfire.Landing is the hardest part.Good stuff.
Thanks for watching, cheers!
Dual camera system will be perfect for visual sense of depth
Good idea! Not easy to implement.
Шикарное зрелище 👍🏼
Thank you!
Some receivers measure and report altitude via Telemetry, and there are modules that can measure airspeed using a pitot tube.
Getting those two pieces of data into a HUD for the FPV is what I want to see!
That’s been on my mind a while, too. Working on it….
Use drone technology.
It will give you everything you need.
Great flying!
I'm 70 and I'm just as amazed!
This will enable formation flying and will give Hollywood a better way to shoot aerial combat sequences.
Indeed! I just need to make the cockpit more detailed🙂
Magnífico!
Obrigado!
Amazing demonstration...I got lost just right after 2 turns...🎉
Wow 😮 ...
This is the future now😮😮😮
you could add small lcd instrument panel for additional immersion
Well, I've been wondering when that technology was gonna make it to the RC world. Outstanding. Now I want to see the fully auto BB guns in the wings and some real dogfights lol.
We can't do that AMA chartered fields. Maybe possible at private fields in the great state of Texas...
imagine air battles with same style in RC :)))
Check this out:
czcams.com/video/KMvXOw4pVKc/video.html
If the camera and the headset had peripheral vision, it would be a much better experience.
Is still very cool though.
Very cool! I wonder if and when it will become standard with RTF kits.
Another banger! I always get super excited to get an alert saying you're releasing a video! Amazing precision flying my good man and loved the in flight narration
Thanks for the encouragement! You make some great videos your own with pro set ups. Wish we are closer and can fly together!
"How high is that?"
"2 feet".
Oh. woop woop woop.
Wonderful video, you are so lucky to have such a large and beautiful flying field, unfortunately where I live in Italy there are none and I had to abandon the world of radio-controlled model aircraft. Furthermore, the current laws in my country have imposed too heavy limits and my models will remain in my garage forever...
Sorry to hear about Italy restricting liberty to enjoy RC flying😢. I used to live in an area close to an international airport, so there were no RC field within an hour driving distance from me either. So when I moved, I chose a location that is close to several RC fields.
Just discovered your channel. I am fascinated! Never seen anything so excellent. I started with nitro helis (without nitro, pure methanol, less smoke 😉). That was over 25 years ago... Even then I thought about video from the cockpit, a dream. But over the years I've had too many hobbies (cars, MTB, skis, repairing engines, drones because of vid, ..., building motorhomes) and ultimately a job and family. Time is getting short!
I will watch your videos. Maybe it will answer my questions about telemetry!
A look at the landing gear would have made landing easier.
Continued success and happy landings with grease 😂🤣😂!
I have not used telemetry yet, but flight controllers like INAV and Ardupilot has OSD (on screen display like speed, altitude, heading, voltage, etc.
@@motionsic thx for the quick response! Always touch the ground w the tires 😉👍🏼 ...only!
You need to get some polishing compounds for that canopy.
Outstanding. Now is it possible to get more head-up movement - I find myself when watching wanting to look further into the turn as it helps with visual height assessment and management. Also when pitching dynamically. Amazing though!
Thanks! The gimbal allows one to look up pass 90°. See here: czcams.com/video/HHgOBIoPpjU/video.html
Great video. Something I'll Never try. I like my airplanes Too much.
cool 🙂
This has to be the coolest shit ever.
Haha, I agree! And a challenge to master😎

That looks like too much fun! I would put a clear canopy on the bird even if it isn't completely accurate to the historical design. I'd also install a bubble level and true it to the bird. Also if you install the camera a little higher you might have better view over the nose when landing.
Thanks for the suggestion. I try to put camera at scale pilot eye position so as to experience the same challenges real pilots would face flying in the real warbird.
@@motionsic Okay I get that. What you're doing looks very authentic, really amazing.
@@imikewillrockyouget yourself the F-16V, it comes with bubble canopy and it's accurate. You'll need bingo fuel warning because it's jet powered thirsty for fuel.
@@jayjay53313 That would be a lot of fun. However I'm not that good of an RC pilot, typically overhead wing style planes that correct themselves if I let go of the stick. But i can take off an land those, so maybe with more practice the F-16!
@@imikewillrockyou I bet it would be much easier to fly if RC upgraded to HOTAS like how we would fly DCS on PC using flight combat stick and throttle instead of the current remote control
I have a friend that do camera on RC cars, on the channel Weekend Driver. Wonder if head-tracking would work there. They run two channels, so I guess you need a separate transmitter and controller you hook up the head tracking on.
That’s one way to do it. Or get Radiolink RC6GS or RC8X transmitters. They come ready to accept 2 & 3 channels from head tracker.
Jesus this was making me nervous 😂
We need to work on clear glass in the cockpit. there was a Aussy guys I spoke to who had figured a way to do it. But I've yet to replicate his process.
Love the reticle. did you home make that? or were you able to source one?
Finally, is there any way to get an OSD into your setup? I'm using the old 5.8Ghz setups, (Still waiting to convert to digital) s I have OSD. it would help you manage altitude and airspeed..
Nice flight. Share more!
I agree on getting clear canopy glass. That would be awesome.
We have been working on the reflector sight for years. They are finally in production and will be available for sale soon.
Regarding OSD, I have yet to use FC in my planes, so no OSD yet. Airspeed and altitude display certainly would help make my flights even more realistic. But other info/ clutter might detract me from enjoying the flight and from seeing aerial targets. I will try one out, soon.
You started FPV earlier than me. I like your clear/informative narration. You deserve a lot more views. Converting to Digital FPV setup would help.
Truly awsome. How is the video transmission dealt with.... power etc? Something like the SpeedyBee F405 WING flight controller running iNav would give you full telemetry in your googles, battery voltage, altitude even position and ground speed if you added a gps... starts to get expensive then though. Something I'd really like to try!
My setup is simple. No flight controller. Just tap power from flight battery to power the video transmitter (air unit) and fly the plane like typical RC plane. You can read more about my setup here:
