    Pros
    - Very good looking aircraft in paint scheme and details. Includes a clear cockpit with pilot cutout inside.
    - Ready to fly plane with included transmitter.
    - True four channel airplane with throttle, elevator, rudder, and aileron control.
    - Constructed of flexible and crash resistant EPP foam.
    - Plenty of power from its 1020 brushed motor.
    - Comes with two 2 bladed and two 4 bladed propellers. The 4 bladed do not provide much power, and are best used for display of the aircraft. The two bladed propellers provide plenty of power, and should be used for flight purposes.
    - Three selectable flight modes. Beginner mode includes full 6 axis stabilization (3 axis gyro and 3 axis accelerometer). Also includes angle restrictions that prevent the aircraft rolling or pitching over. Intermediate "Midd" mode also includes 6 axis stabilization, but turns off pitch angle restrictions to allow aerobatic stunts. Expert mode turns off all stabilization for fully aerobatic manual flying.
    - Controller also includes a stunt button that allows the airplane to automatically conduct loops and aileron rolls.
    - NEW Auto Takeoff feature enables the aircraft to automatically climb to a safe altitude, and then circle until the pilot is comfortable and ready to take control of the plane with the pitch/roll stick.
    - One key return feature will automatically fly the plane in the opposite direction that it was pointed at takeoff.
    - Quick disconnect propeller saver automatically disconnects the propeller in a crash to prevent propeller or motor damage. Propeller can be quickly reattached after the crash to continue flying.
    - Very efficient flier. It's 3.7V 400mah battery provides about 14 minutes of flight time.
    - Can be flown with multi-protocol transmitters using V761 protocol. I demonstrate such in the above video.
    Cons
    - Brushed motor airplane. Its motor will eventually fail some day. Strongly recommend allowing 15 minutes motor cool down between flights to improve motor longevity.
    - It's a bit heavier at 66 grams than its 55 grams P-51D V1 predecessor.

Oh thank goodness. I have been going nuts looking for this video again. I got a couple of these Volantex airplanes, most recent one is the P-47 v2. After working out a few issues and trying to get some flights in during daylight with less then gale force winds of spring in Kansas City, I remembered seeing an autolaunch video. But I couldn't find it. So I finally opened a ticket to EXhobby with the question and I haven't heard back from them yet. It's only been a couple days. For some reason I thought it was Brianphillipsrc that I saw it being used on and I sent him an email. It did get to the place where I thought I had just dreamt it, which doesn't seem that far fetched. I've had a pretty fun couple of weeks of moving furnture, painting and having flooring installed, finishing that with the shoe molding topped off with going to my daughters and getting grandkids fed and on the buss for school, orchestra and soccer practice. (pretty heavily involved with the G-kids with a single mom) so it didn't hit me as strange that I wouldn't have dreamed this up in the semi exhaustion especially as I only had the one video I couldn't find again. THEN I saw it in the drop down of the EXHobby information on the P-51 "One key launch! just press a couple keys and the plane will take off and hover till you take over". No actual list of HOW to do this on the page OR in the online manuals. BUT they advertise it. I wasn't crzy so I emailed them with "It's here, I'm not crzy, you just don't have it in THIS documentation. And just after I sent that addendum to my ticket number, I found your video again.
AHHHHHHHH, I can sleep again. Except now I want the darn wind to stop blowing so I can go out and try it! Even with 5-10 mph winds the plane is pretty fun to fly in beginner and sport mode. Found out it was too tail heavy to fly without the gyros and balanced the plane so NOW it seems to fly better but at 2 ounces in 10+ mph gusts, Ya gotta have the stabilization on. Watch them little wings ROCK fighting it. So, now I wait and I'm not crzy.
Thanks for the excellent How To.

Finally got a day that wsan't horrendous wind, been north of 15 mph most days. Took my Jug out, hit the stunt button, gave her the throttle and she flipped right over into the ground. Put the prop back on, put the switch in Beginner mode, CHECKED that it was in begginer mode again instead of expert where it was AND screwed up the launch somehow in the toss. Thing did an upward corkscrew climb reminiescent of Powered Free flight planes and then went into orbit.mode. So, it really works. I flew it around in sport mostly after the launch, then as I've got the CG in the right place now, put it in expert and flew around like that for a bit. However, the transmitter they send with it is a bit of a pain in my arthritic hands and it doesn't have expo so I switched back to slope for a flight of 8 minutes, buzzing the yard art in such.
I've sent email to EXHobby where I got mine. Hopefully they can get notice to whomever to get the How To info into their manual. Don't know how you figured it out but I've yet to find a reference on how the one button Takeoff is supposed to work on their website or in the literature. Kinda cool.

One feature not shown in this review and demonstration video is the fact that the flight board in this now has two 3-pin sockets to take an S-bus or DSM satellite receiver. This gives you the option of using the toy grade included transmitter, a Multi Protocol transmitter (on V761/4ch protocol), a Spektrum transmitter, or any other brand of transmitter capable of sending to a compatible S-bus receiver. The only features missing now are a dedicated PWM throttle channel outlet to allow for brushless upgrades and to move the built-in Elevator and Rudder servos off the board for ease of upgrading and servicing.

The "Flyaway Problem" was present in all the Volantex V761 planes (3 and 4ch, high wing and first issued units of the P-51) up until about when the first 'Legends" series "Eachine" re-brands came out. Also about the time they changed from the push-in-top/bottom trim switches on the Txs to the current slide-up/slide-down type. The newer Txs can't reverse the gyro/servo directions on the planes now either BUT the feature is still extant on the flight boards (I believe) if you get 1 of the older Txs and hold an A, E, or R stick hard over for a few seconds BEFORE arming the motor. Handy for installing the boards on other scratch-built planes.

A non-functioning rudder will never be a cause for a flyaway since you can turn these full 4-channel planes just as easily with the ailerons. If the wind is blowing it away just dump it on the ground - these won't break like beer-cooler foam EPS Horizon Slobby planes. If you are out of range the plane's motor will shut down but the stabilization will stay on if you have it engaged and the plane will glide some distance more down wind. 1 more reason to keep your toys near you. 😁

@@flant.225 To the best of my knowledge only V761 planes produced up until the V761-5 red-tailed P-51 that came in a brown cardboard box had the no-motor-failsafe fly-away fault. After they started selling the Mini Warbirds in the technicolour Legends box the P-51 (and all subsequent models) had the fault fixed. About then all further shippings of the V761-1/V761-2/V761-3 and V761-4 were issued with the fault fixed as well. The Spitfire was a much later release so it never had the problem.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  Před 11 měsíci +3

I prefer the Volantex p51D V2. The XK A280 is a much bigger and heavier plane. As such, the A280 can only fly for less than 7 minutes (average flight time that people have been experiencing seems to be about 4 1/2 minutes). However, the smaller lighter Volantex planes get about 15 minutes flight time per battery. The big A280 also needs a larger flying field, while the Volantex planes can be used in a smaller field. The Volantex planes are also more easily transportable due to their smaller size.
