- Playing follow the leader in high speed chase using head-tracking FPV from RC plane cockpit. As close to flying full scale dogfight or tactical formation as it gets without actually being in an airplane. No risk to life, lots of thrills!

I understand that these are incredibly expensive. But my lord to go into the merge would be crazy.

Nice
You guys are having entirely too much fun -
Surprising how much fun the little T-28 can be🙂
@@motionsic Absolutely. I flew T-28s in the Navy in the early 1970s and I remember it as a very honest aircraft with no bad habits (but I don't remember being able to keep up with any of the jets). Always enjoy your videos.
@@tu_alum5619 Glad to hear a real T-28 pilot enjoying the video! This small T-28 has great handling qualities and can go almost vertical indefinitely with the right prop (way over powered) which makes it super fun! Did you guys use reflector sights on the real one? If so were the reticles like the one shown here - Navy Mk8 type?
@@motionsic To quote a movie line "been a minute, huh Mav?" - and about 50 years for me. Being basic trainers, the T-28s that I flew were not configured with weapons systems, and I don't recall any gun sights on them. At the time, a few of those aircraft were configured for counterinsurgency missions in Viet Nam, and probably had sighting systems appropriate to the ordinance that they carried. Not sure about being a "real" T-28 driver - I only had about a hundred hours in them, flying out of NAS North Island while I was between jet squadron assignments and the T-28 flying was for maintaining proficiency. Most of the air time involved IFR practice (North Island was frequently socked in), formation practice and aerobatics. It was a solid performer, and always fun to fly.
Given the power to weight ratios of R/C models, the hand-eye coordination required, and the basic nature of the models that you guys fly, I would guess that the skill sets necessary to fly your models well is a lot more involved than what I learned way back when. For the purposes of your FPV flights, I will only offer that the success of a formation flight is very much dependent on how smooth the pilot who is flying lead. I've flown wing on pilots who were so smooth that it made me look good, but others, not so much.
Have fun.
Muito top top parabéns 👏👏👏👏
cool
Beautifully done. I know from personal experience how hard that is having tried many times. Thank you for sharing. Jim
Thank you Jim! The bigger the airplane and the more often one practice formation flying, the easier it becomes. Cheers!
super fantastic !!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I would love to try that ALSOME flight 👍👍👍
Thank you😁
Nice video!! Great FPV
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job keeping the jet in view the whole time!
Thanks. Head-tracking FPV camera makes it easier compared to fixed camera.
Fantastic flying! You make some of the best FPV videos I've ever seen. The only bad thing is that it really reminds me of how out of date my own FPV gear is. :D
Thank you! Digital FPV gear are becoming more affordable. A good used pair of goggles like the one I used in this video goes for around $200 now. In case you want to consider updating…
Here’s another old saying that was told to me when I was learning to fly RC back in the 80’s. If you want two flights bring to planes.
Haha, that’s a good one!
wow🤩🤩
Oh this is beautiful! That t28 is much more capable than I thought it was.
Yeah, a little change in prop makes a huge difference in performance.
o
If you are using the Air Unit 03, are you able to do full power on the air unit without a flight controller? If so how? Thank you so much.
Used OG air unit in this video. I just turned low power mode off for O3 in my other planes. It’s sufficient for me to fly in my RC field. So I am not concerned about having full power.
@@motionsic very good! Thank you for the quick reply.
I have the t28 and building my setup as soon as my BAG gets in 😊. Question: What battery size do you typically use to power this? I saw the 6000mah in the wiring diagram and I ordered one of those. It is quite large although fits snug in the battery area. I’m thinking my 3200mah spectrums aren’t gonna last long powering all of this. (I’m throwing in a matek and gps to go along with the air 03).
The 6S 6000 is for Viper 90 & CZ T-28 2m. I use old 4S4000 for T-28 1.2m. Your 4S 3200mAh is fine. Changing prop to APCe 12x8 prop would boost performance and flight time.
This had to be your best quality fpv I've seen so far. Very clear view even in the sun
Thanks!
great flying, i want to get intoo fpv, could you give a list for a first time edf pilot of what i would need.i did see the list above, but would you have model type, single or dual ant etc, im green on this, i havt to say yur videos have me hooked into getting into this
You need a air RC transmitter with at least 8 channels and trainer capable (can receive student PPM input) and following components:
DJI Goggles Integra:
www.dji.com/mobile/goggles-integra
DJI O3 Air unit
www.dji.com/mobile/o3-air-unit
Motionsic BAG - BadAss Gimbal
fpvdogfight.com/products/motionsic-b-a-g-badass-gimbal
Tally-Ho 2 Head-tracker
fpvdogfight.com/products/tally-ho-2-prebuilt-head-tracker
For a first EDF jet to try out FPV, I recommend the Freewing T-33. It’s forgiving and can be fast when you remove the wingtip tanks.
thank you so much@@motionsic
Great video, how you deal with the remote ID when turn the fpv integra on? How does the remote ID work only goggles and camera? Thank you
sometimes you inspire me to charge a bat on my tomcat and have some fpv fun!
That’s the spirit!
Is the holographic thing for sale?
The reflector sight will be for sale soon. Assembling now…
Never flown an edf but I love my t28s
nice you are using only a two bladed prop, more efficient ❤
You are right!! Much higher pitch prop than stock for high speed, too!
Hi guys… newbie here, I just purchased my Habu STS 70mm (PNP- so I don’t have anything apart from the body and servos) and it’ll get to me in about 3 weeks.. I’d like to fit FPV with HT… I don’t know where to start.. what do I need to make it work? Is there any tutorial I could refer to? I’d really appreciate any pointers and help.. also .. you guys are awesome 🤘🫶🏽
Glad you are motivated to join in the fun. Here are the main components you need:
DJI Goggles Integra:

DJI O3 Air unit

Motionsic BAG - BadAss Gimbal

Read this page about how to set up on the the plane:

@@motionsic ow wow this sooo cool 😎 thank you so much!! What type of receiver and transmitter would be ideal? Like how many channels? And what brand works best?? 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 many thanks!!
@@ghazalimohammed you will want a transmitter with at least 10 channels if you want to do FPV long term. I use FrSky X20S and love it. FrSky X18S is good, too. I like the FrSky since it allows me to use headtracker wirelessly via Bluetooth. RadioMaster T16S is also very popular among FPV pilots.
epic video man
Thanks!
Hey can i connect the FPV with the FX30 ?
what's a FX30?
I love this FPV view. I am doing this on my plane. Hallelujah. holy holy holy. praise the technology God's.
Can you tell me what your calibration settings are for your head tracker?
What orientation is your head-tracker?
Hmm I hope I get this right. So the head tracker itself on my goggles is in the hanging position. One of my gimbals are with the wire closest to the front of the gimbal. The head tracker is hanging on the left side of the goggles. @@motionsic
@@larsulrich3356 if your head-tracker is the same orientation as shown on my website: fpvdogfight.com/products/tally-ho-head-tracker
Then the orientation specification is:
X= 0° Y= -90° Z= 180°
When I finish magnetometer calibrations the numbers are usually around these:
Thank you. I will talk to my tech savvy friends to assist me and maybe I will catch back up with you if I have nay other questions.@@motionsic
Where is this air strip located?
Silverado, California, USA
How do you record sounds please 😂
Voice? Just using my cell phone. OG air unit has mic to record onboard sounds.
