Congratulation, very big archivement, like every time you deliver us an advanced product no need the add some mod, very efficient and reliable product, well done. time will remember it
This video smells like BS in a lot of ways. you wanna tell me, they wouldn't even clear the landing site from dangerous poles and debris for a flight, as prestigeous as this one? they tested autoland on a big road with lights leaving just a couple of meters clearance? this seems like very good marketing, but not like actual truth.
They are a bit reckless. But it appears there are enough bureaucratic gaps in China that allows people doing this. I’ve seen quite a few CZcamsr using abandoned or just not frequently used highway as runways. On the other hand, components cost are so low that if the plane crashes into one of the wind turbines, they won’t care.
Wrong, propeller powered planes are most efficient at an altitude of about 6-7km. Lower than this and it reduced fuel efficiency as the atmosphere is more dense and the plane has to push itself through it harder.
Wow!!! Very, very impressive what you have done there!! All that is needed now is the option to deliver video from plane to ground during the complete flight.
This was an amazing test 👍 I've been looking for the right platform for a few months that will track correctly. I will be buying this plane along with crossbow. Making that battery pack will be a treat though.
I'm really grateful that Charles didn't sold the company!! I do feel really good Envy.. when I grow up I plan to do exactly as he have done!! he have a great product! I never have so far do any firmware update!! and all the products still work as they should! bullet proof products, grat company!!
What have you done there you people....awesome!! You use the recommended RC set up? 18000 Mah only for 200km trip, that's we call efficiency !! Keep up the good work Charles you and your team! Oh something else, this laser finder is it going to be sold on your site?
We used the setup in the video. BeiDou DTU is a good thing. We are trying to use it to send commands to the plane. We can send only 1 message in 60sec, but sometimes that's enough :)
It would have been even more awesome charging the battery again in HaiNan and fly back to your departure point. The auto landing feature is incredible!
A great step forward! Very impressive, and i cant imagine the possibilities with that kind of plane. Maybe delivering first aid kits to islands, antipoisons for rare bites, other medication that would be to slow by boat...
Excellent, excellent, excellent. A job well done! You have accomplished something normally done by systems costing tens of thousands of dollars, at a fraction of the cost. Would like to see a detailed build video.
This is beyond impressive. Crosswind landing on unprepared beach! They didnt even try to move the driftwood out of the way. Or maybe they put it there on purpose? Anyway, well done to the team
Dang, what a cool invention! When you showed the battery, I thought it was just for the onboard electronics... not to power the plane for a whole 200KM!
None of my drones will make it. Very impressive toy you made. I will probably build something custom to satisfy my flying cravings at some point. Well done.
Spectacular! All it takes is heart! The landing site was a mine field and the vehicle seemed to steer to one of a few soft spots , luck has it or does vehicle have vision ? Can flight control software be set up to use more use of rudder to make direction changes then aileron influenced bank turns ? I am developing a first ever light weight swept wing modular endurance air vehicle. The main wing and body will be set, but nose and tail section can be swapped out to infinity styles. The wing control surfaces we be direct drive torsion controlled , no horns and rods. I see opportunity for an affordable all in a box flight system. It has been elusive .
200km autonomously... in 2019... not a big deal really. We did 2000 miles (3270km) in 1998 fully autonomously (across the North Atlantic)... and by 'we', I mean the Aerosonde team... and the aircraft was 3m wingspan, 36kg and took 26 hours for the flight. You've got a ways to go yet!
First off, well done MFD on achieving 200kms on their Crosswind. I too own one and it is capable of traveling further. Can I ask, what motors are you using on this particular flight. Thanks, Titoto
This looks to be freaking amazing. I think i need to whip up something like this as well. Amazing with how much Crosswind the plane is able to land safely. However, that beach doesn't look too nice.
The flight was incredible but that autonomous landing procedure is totally next level

@peter amster and that is how your plane is gonna crash lol... It's not 200 miles but 200 km
Hot damn, 60 mph in an RC plane and 124 miles of nonstop flying, that's impressive!
If I'm right on battery size, that comes out to around 4 watts/mile usage. Impressive.
