a lot of singers are good but Steven is one of those rare talents that show what singers are truly capable of. Chris Cornell and Layne Stayley, are close in the list in my opinion(best rock singer list)
Joe Perry plays guitar like he’s having a conversation with the instrument. It’s laidback. It’s lyrical. And he listens to everyone else in the band. He’s a teammate. That’s what I learned the most from studying his guitar playing.
I've always adored Aerosmith. But this video alone has really opened my eyes to the actual soul and truly in-touch feeling in the way that they've artistically orchestrated with their music.
100% Totally agree..... Also walk this way with RUN D.M.C. has a different vibe but that's one that I always rock out to.... Video is epic as well.... Janies Got a Gun Video equally as 90's era epic.... But yes Sweet Emotion has such a sick build up
Nope. Back in the '70s all the guys wanted to be Joe Perry. Everyone realized that being Steven Tyler would require too much work on a minute-by-minute basis. Being Joe Perry meant that you can just stand there and own the room. Everyone who straps on a guitar wants to be Joe Perry. They may want to play like Hendrix, or Van Halen, or Clapton, or Beck, or Malmsteen, or whomever, but they want to *be* Joe Perry.
Steven for me, is and will always remain, the most incredible vocalist, the best in the world, who, performing every song, makes us feel this song, live it with him, enjoying how incredibly he performs his songs, experiencing a thousand emotions, and leaving us with a desire to listen to his performance, again and again, empathizing and living, every song he performed, with him...🎤💯💯💯❤❤❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏
It really is crazy to think this guy is only 15 years younger than my grandfather, yet they're HUNDREDS OF MILES apart in demeanor. Think of other 70 year olds you know
I think I found Aerosmith's legendary " sound". Whenever I feed my cat dinner, she's so excited she's running by my feet. 99 percent of the time, I'm able to deftly move out of her way. Last night, however, I stepped on her by accident. She wasn't really hurt, but the cry she let out made me realize that it essentially was the Aerosmith " sound".
@@SillyGoose2024 the hair stuff I believe because it's in a couple of Aerosmith books but sugary stuff there's nothing out there that says he's had surgery besides his throat surgery for a broken blood vessel and I'm a hard core fan of Aerosmith so I would know but don't pull things out of the air but if there's something out there that you can post other than then the surgery on his throat please post it or send me a link
Steven Tyler and joe perry came on as guests and played at a bonjovi concert I went to in 98. I went with a girl, she loved jovi, me not so much, but that was one of the best surprises ever.
Seriously! Get your wings was phenomenal for so many reasons. Although songs like same old song and dance got all the love, for me it was the dynamism in songs like Lord of the thighs and spaced that really shone. Most people don't know this, but it was Brad whitford that pulled the lead on those two songs, he was doing some guitar work that still echoes through my mind today, he had some seriously tasty licks in there with what I would call the best Jeff Beck influences I've ever heard. His scales and tremolo work were just superb! And then of course, songs like Woman of the World really allowed Steven to stretch out lyrically, and I feel like Aerosmith really defined their sound with Seasons of Wither and then nailed it down with Pandora's Box. Although I loved all of Aerosmith's first generation work, Get Your Wings will always be special to me because it's where they found their voice.
0:01 : I can understand this now that I have taken up long distance running. When I am running my hardest 6 miles into a run, out of breath, with my heart beating out of my chest, I feel the most ALIVE.
Aerosmith was the band that got me into music. Listening to Get A Grip on cassette as an 11 year old blew my mind. I felt something I never felt before.
One of the first proper rock bands i ever listened to on repeat . My uncle gave me 2 albums on cassette , loved them . Solo in " love in an elevator " is legendary , so good . Tyler seems like a really cool guy
Great interview, Best part when Steven brings up the fugs! My dad play there when I was growing up. So if you never heard of them definitely check it out saran wrap, slum goddess coca-Cola all that good stuff!

Let's put the Joe Perry love in check. He was trying to emulate Johnny Thunders since early on. They were both on the same label, but they gave Aerosmith all the promotion. Dolls were sacrificed for these guys. Joe got Johnny's hair and guitar style, and Tyler got Johansen's scarfs.
@reviewloop , if you like copycat artists, fuck, more power to you. But I don't think you know how much Aerosmith ripped off the New York Dolls. You're probably an ignorant millennial.
It's funny that a lot of rock singers from the early 70's had been highly influenced by soulful black singers. Especially in the US. Freddie was so unique that he was one of the few that gave up from soul and blues initially to flirt with classic and more operatic vocal style.
Joe Perry .,.. please. Is he really one of the all-time greats? Not for me. Great band, he looked cool and all …the solo at the end of “No More No More” is smokin’. Nice of Tyler to give him credit for so much inspiration.
