I grew up with Dave Mustain for a time in Huntington Beach CA. We were young teenagers at the time and I remember going to the apartment he lived in with his mom at the time, we would party a little bit and he would play his guitar or we would go down to the beach to check out the surf and the girls, Dave at that time like a lot of us who hung out together were pretty much left to our own device, so needless to say many times me and Dave and the rest of the people we hung around with found ourselves up to no good, we all had hard attitudes, even the girls that hung around us did as well, to a certain extent we all seem to have a chip on our shoulders even though we had a lot of things and lived in a beautiful city, and when it came to music we were all into hard rock including Dave, but then Dave started getting into punk rock and me and the other guys and girls who hung around together really didn't care for punk rock, it was something new to us and as a result we started to get down on Dave for it and even got physical with him about it, needless to say a lot of us distanced ourselves from him, the things we did hurt him a lot and he became more of a angry guy than he already was and he seemed to carry that with him in his latter years, the last time I talked to him was after his Mothers funeral and at that time he was high on heroin, and don't get me wrong I was on drugs as well at the time, so it was really just a short visit and we said goodbye, Dave has always carried his emotions on his sleeve and not in a crybaby way but in a tell it like it is way, a lot of us were like that as well, so I can see the huge change in the way Dave was when I was growing up with him and how he is now and I can honestly say Dave seems genuinely at peace with himself and who he has become

She was in an accident last weekend, charged with aggravated DUI, I think her 2 yr old car is totaled, my parents co signed for it. They live in another state. They don't witness the day to day craziness that stems from her being an alcoholic. I tell them, there are details I have held bk just to keep the peace and my step father has a bad heart. But it all came to a head last weekend when she was in the accident. She went from rum to vodka to drinking in the mornings. I grew up with alcoholics. I seen this coming a mile away and tried and tried and tried getting thru to her. She cleans with me for side money, I almost lost jobs due to her, her work ethic is horrendous now. What I realis3d is we are very codependent and I was enabling her. I haven't talked to her in a week, since the crash & jail. Until my daughter is ready for professional help or rehab I can't. I mean they didn't kick him out because he was a bad musician and couldn't sell tickets. He was unhinged and a violent alcoholic. The man you see now is fortunately someone in control of his demons. Megadeth may have turned into a huge success of its own, but objectively the band has been a revolving door of musicians, probably due to Dave's inability to work with people. I'm sure James and Lars would do it all over again, especially knowing Dave's replacement was the calmest personality in the band.

I wouldn't necessarilly say he had any true two full Metallica albums , yeah all the songs on demo no life till leather he helped write parts of just about all of them , and all those songs are the same ones that went on to be recorded by Metallica with Kirk Hammett when they recorded their official first full album , all were the same songs from the demo that Dave helped write pars of , with the exception of two songs on Kill Em All that were added during the recording that Dave had zero part in writing. Then regarding his only further influences in Metallicas music , only consists of small basic parts of just two other Metallica songs , which are thw main riff of the song Ride the Lightening , and a riff in the instrumental Call Of Ktulu which of course were both songs on metallicas second recorded full length album Ride The Lightening. I've heard many people including Dave himself cry about claims that Kirk Hammett stole all Daves solos when Kirk with the band recording his solos for Kill Em All , which yeah were part of mostly songs that Dave did help write and did record solos on each of the songs that were on their first Demo "No Life Till Leather" , I have original recordings of both the demo and Kill Em All and when Kirk recorded Kill Em All with Metallica he clearly did not steal any of Dave's solos , every one of them that Kirk recorded were totally different and he didnt steal or copy any of daves solos for the original versions of rhe same songs of Demo "No Life Till Leather", yeah a couple of the solos Kirk did for Kill Em All had a couple brief licks that maybe sound a little similar , but that's bound to happen as when anyone solos to a song you will see similarities because they still have to be in thee same key and likely using parts of the same scales , and then your also coming up with this stuff of all the same genre or style of music , so of course you make hear minor similarities as times if two musicians both write solos for the exact same songs , it's bound to happen because of those three reasons I just gave. So Kirk didn't steal anybodies solos , that's rediculous and it's not the case plain and simple. I'll add my mere opinion here but as a long time guitarist and a musicjan educated in music theory I gorta say Dave and Kirk are both very very talented musicians but honestly Kirk without a doubt has a bit more talent and also displays this talent across a wider variety of noteable influences from different genres of music that can clearly be seen in his work . Both of them together though revolutionized metal music and literally both basically laid the foundation for trash metal , but Metallica had the upper hand on megadeath in that aspect , from 1983-1989 or 1990ish maybe even 92-93, Metallica was undeniably untouchable in the genre of trash metal, and really metal in genre as a broader spectrum of music, and for rhose reasons as well as simply just the fact that I enjoy Metallicas music from their first 5 albums and feel deeply connected to it far far deeper and thoroughly than any of Dave's work with Megadeth, sorry just being completely honest, the fact that Metallica is not just still together making new music but right now also at this moment in the middle of a world tour in where they are playing and sounded better live than they have since 90-92 , they have gone through major rejuvenation and are absolurtely on freaken fire right now in all their live shows , their energy is indescribable , and the fact they are still able to play live every couple days and sound as amazingly well at the average age of about 60 says a ton about about which of the two bands is superior and left a bigger mark in the world of music of historical magnitude rarely seen in these times , and that clearly would be Metallica , sorry Megadeth fans but it is what it is.
