- I understand that the chorus is the official of this song is the official national anthem of Ireland. However, I thought that this version was nice, so I used this one despite having two verses instead of three.
English:
"Amhrán na bhFiann" (Irish pronunciation: [ˈəuɾˠaːn̪ˠ n̪ˠə ˈvʲiːən̪ˠ]), called "The Soldier's Song" in English, is the Irish national anthem. The music was composed by Peadar Kearney and Patrick Heeney, the original English lyrics by Kearney, and the Irish-language translation, now usually heard, by Liam Ó Rinn. The song has three verses, but only the choral refrain has been officially designated the national anthem.
The Presidential Salute, played when the President of Ireland arrives at an official engagement, consists of the first four bars of the national anthem immediately followed by the last five.[1]
Gaeilge:
Is é Amhrán na bhFiann (Béarla: The Soldiers' Song) amhrán náisiúnta na hÉireann. Scríobh Peadar Ó Cearnaigh na liricí, agus chum Patrick Heaney an port. Ba i mBéarla a scríobhadh na liricí ar dtús, ach is é an leagan Gaeilge is gnách a chloisteáil inniu. Ní chantar ach an curfá de ghnáth agus is ar éigean go bhfuil an chuid eile den amhrán ar eolas ag duine ar bith. Tá blas láidir Ghaeilge na Mumhan ar na líricí, agus is minic nach féidir an fonn a choinneáil ach an t-amhrán a chanadh sa chanúint seo. Mar shampla, nuair a chantar ar ardaibh sléibhe, is gá an bh san fhocal sléibhe a bhá go hiomlán, mar a dhéantar leis an bh-/-mh i nGaeilge na Mumhan ar lorg an ghuta fhada.
only the Irish can have their anthem sound like a jig
respect
When Northern Ireland becomes normal Ireland
It already is 🫡
They should play the full thing at games not just the courus
It would take too long. Just the chorus is fine.
That seem like this should be true
Probably not would be too long, like imagine of you had to do that for every nation, Greeces full national anthem is 50 minutes long
Or at least the first verse + the chorus.
the pronunciation is quaking but damn i love the instrumental of this version
Call this language weird, but I think this language is easier to learn than Japanese, Korean, or Chinese. Just sayin'.

To my russian ear that sounds like tatar a bit. Try listening to tatar national radio

ÉIREANN THAR GACH EILE
And people say English pronunciation is hard
No one does.
Kaiser I have friends from France Ukraine and Israel and they all agreed one of the hardest parts of English is pronunciation.
not because it's hard by itself, it's because its writing makes no fucking sense so you can't tell how a word is pronounced by reading it
I don't know anything Depends on how well you know the language. The only reason I can read and pronounce German, Spanish and Italian even if I don’t understand the words is because I grew up around those languages. Spanish because I live in California, German because my dad knows a bit, being that his family has German roots, and Italian because my mom and her family have Italian roots and know quite a bit.
@@cahallo5964 as a non-English person I can confirm that some parts are very strange to pronounce.
banger of a song
I plan on going to Ireland eventually, and this makes me love the country even more
This version is nice. Its not the version I was taught but I do appreciate the effort put into this. Its. I am Irish and I have never heard this version in my life, the first minute is very strange to hear its normally always Sianna fianna fall for the beginning of the song.
Yeah never heard this version in me life
It's the Ulster accent I think. I don't like anything about this version. Possibly the worst I've ever heard. I speak Munster!!
I thought it was Sianna Fianna fall too.

I am Irish and would like to make a comment about your video. I don’t know where you go this version of our anthem, but it is clearly not being sung by an speaker of the Irish language. I don’t know where to begin, as I didn’t hear a single word pronounced correctly. My suspicion is that an Irish American may have made a cover, and pronounced everything as if it were to be read via English orthography. I understand if my comment comes off as snarky, or perhaps as someone who is taking issue with minute details about the pronunciation not being my standards, but I do want to stress that this is unintelligible to the point where it doesn’t resemble our anthem. Even though you the author may not have knowledge how how it should sound, comparing the chorus in this version to some others and you might see that this one is off when the others are consistent.
For example, the singer pronounces bhFiann with a pronounced hard b and an h. This are supposed to be silent. He then pronounces the following letters as it were an English word (eg rhyming with Mayan or something). whereas the word in full is universially understood by Irish speakers to be pronounced something like “Feen” or such. )
Hope my comment was helpful. Go raibh míle maith agat.
It's the Ulster accent.
@@oisindaly1380 tf thats not an ulster accent

"I understand that the chorus is the official of this song is the official national anthem of Ireland." i cant understand what that means lmao
Likely a mistake. Probably meant to write "I understand that the chorus of the song is the official national anthem of Ireland."
The official anthem begins with the chorus, kind of like how Germany's anthem is still the same "Deutschland uber alles" but omits the first two (I think) stanzas
This is a grand sound, better have me cup of tea soon!
Agus, my name is an Irish name ya'll, like if you're a tea drinker like me.
Up da fuckin ra!!!!
good :))
Oooh
Eirinn go bragh
We don't sing the first 40 seconds lmao it starts with 'Sin na Fina fáil'
The official national anthem is only the chorus. This is the full song
Aw jesus these lads must be speaking dublin irish or something some word are pronounced extremely different to the way I'd pronounce then
Dominic Clarke he just has a Donegal accent
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
All hail Eire.
Up ireland
I speak fluent Irish but I still find the pronunciation of this version to be hard to understand.
Yes because it’s being sung in Munster dialect. Connacht dialect is the easiest to learn and speak.

WTF kind of language is this?!
Though English is the most commonly spoken language in Ireland, Irish is our other official language. It is taught in schools, is on road signs and is spoken as a first language in Gaeltacht areas in the west of Ireland. It's a Celtic language, related to Scots Gaelic, Welsh, Manx, Breton and Cornish.
