I would have made a formal complaint to the police, with footage and pushed for false reporting by the rider and for failure on the officer to investigate. It's incredibly easy to view cam footage on phones and would have taken 2 minutes for the officer to see the driver did absolutely nothing wrong at any part of the incident.

I know someone that was wrongly accused of dangerous driving in a similar way to the scooter delivery rider. It got all the way to court before anyone bothered to look at the dashcam footage. The prosecution tried to get it thrown out on the basis they had not seen it, despite numerous attempts from the defence solicitor to provide them with it. The magistrate was extremely angry at the waste of time and taxpayers money on pursuing a lie, when all it would have taken was PC Plod looking at the dashcam footage at the time of the accusation.

The trouble is that there's no accountability at all for that sort of behaviour. Lawyers, like cops, are sociopaths and skullduggery is all part of the game to them. Other people would do time for making false reports, perjury and abuse of the legal system, but the worst offenders are institutionally protected.

I sincerely hope you are referring to the one who is being overtaken ?
The overtaking wagon would have been passing for ages with the cammer aware of him, long before the headlights of the oncoming vehicle appeared - yet he refused to assist when a clear and imminent danger is presented. and remained at speed forcing the other truck to remain on course to potentially wipe out a family of four.
I assure you, in the event of an incident the camera vehicle would be facing the bigger prison sentence.
Overtaking vehicle made a bad decision but that was not immediately apparent at the commencement of the overtake. The decision may have been poor but it was not inherently reckless.
Vehicle being overtaken failed to assist in the avoidance of a serious collision when he had plenty time to do so, and continued to sit there sit there watching events unfold, knowing the outcome could have been a multiple fatality.

I'm sorry but I don't give a damm who's mistake precipitated the situation. There is no place for egos and crying about who is wrong or right when there are lives at stake. If, when driving you are in a situation where your actions can prevent an accident - then you do it, end of.

They have a duty to investigate properly and not just take one person's word over another's. In regards to #13 I would've taken those police officers details and driven straight to the local police station and made a formal complaint about them. I would've then also made a formal complaint about that bike rider as well. I would've then also have driven straight to the local press office and got them to create a story about local police officers being corrupt and shown them the footage!

Retired Police NI. Everyone should be made to ride a motorbike for 6 months so they can practice actually looking over their shoulders. The number of people who ignore the fact their mirrors have a blind spot is staggering. They indicate (?) pull out and then act all surprised when you are suddenly beeping your horn at them. I rode a bike for a year many moons ago but have never forgotten the lessons of defensive driving and I am a much better driver for it. I can't count the number of times I've gone to pull out right when I saw nothing in the mirror, only for a quick glance over the shoulder to show me it would have been a big mistake.

I don’t agree. Have you seen the way some scooter riders and motorcyclists ride, absolutely horrendous, does that make better drivers absolutely not. Obeying the rules of the road makes better drivers.
You need eyes in the back of your head because of the laws being broken, especially by food delivery bikers, come to my town, you’ll see damaged scooters and cars lined up outside McDonald’s.
I followed one out of our road, 30mph, he must’ve been doing the top end of the bike 36-37 mph and no use of indication or slowing when emerging, how does a car driver observe for stupid?
I’m an ex bike rider and I’ve worked dealing with RTCs multiple times and it’s not a pretty sight when bikers get hit because of something they do.

The reality is it is NOT for the motoring public to sit in judgement of others. My advice is sound as a pound, always expect the unexpected, and treat ALL other road users as total imbeciles!! Happy motoring stay safe and mind your own business!!

#13 - really odd the scooter rider got triggered, unless there was an interaction beforehand. I dare say the Police sided with the scooter initially because when they were flagged down by him you were dangerously close to a vulnerable road user. Way too close.
Sure, the rider caused you to get too close earlier, by undertaking and slowing in front of you, but you carried on a that distance for a fair way. Should have slowed to create a gap, especially knowing he uses erratic actions. Didn't help the first impression the officer got.
Then ALL THREE OF YOU mount the pavement at speed (and drive on it a little which is illegal) while a pedestrian is there! I have no sympathy for any of you as none of you think of others.
