The last video I remember seeing that in the news. Luckily that man survived. There was a rock or structure just off camera that stopped his vehicle from going all the way down the mountain. He lived and is well. Extremely lucky

@@warsonggulch6998 He also oversteered into it. The road was wide enough and the car had decent amount of grip to come out of it with moderate braking and just enough steering input to avoid the cliffs, but he panicked and made it much worse.

If he survived that he was definitely needing to change his shorts after.

I've been driving 59 years without accident and watching these videos always makes me a more careful driver. You never know what can happen.
I used to service ac systems at ups sites. One of them had a sign exiting for their drivers to see it read " You are now entering the most dangerous place on earth.. The American Highway" Not a bad reminder of just how dangerous it can be out there.
Lots of people claim that but never admit to the thousands they caused and blindly drove away from

These drive thrus at banks have these tubey tunnel things that suck up a container that you put your license and bank slips into and it travels into the bank. Then they do w.e. transaction you want and send the little plastic container back thru the tubes with your money or receipt or w.e. in it and you're good to go!
It actually sounds kinda crazy having to describe it to someone who's never seen one before, tho lol. Sounds like futuristic and all but I remember them as a kid, too. The bank tellers would always put suckers in them for kids and dog bones in them for dogs lol. You should search for a video of it!

I drive eighteen wheelers and I was a CDL instructor and I watch these videos and it always makes me wonder if some of these drivers get their license out of a box of Cracker Jacks!

Of course plenty of us would have panicked in that situation but if you don't speed thru a tunnel like that specially when you can't see past the exit you wont be in a situation like that

The amount of accidents that could've been avoided in this video because the person was driving way too fast is scary...
Literally all you have to do is slow down leave some space and stay off your phone and accidents like this will be less frequent

As a 33 year veteran truck driver who has driven nearly every kind of truck on the road, it amazes me as to how many truck drivers can't drive trucks or anything else for that matter. The one thing that never ceases to amaze me is how many times we see on these videos where the driver that caused the whole thing decides that it's no big deal and splits. Unbelievable.

That first clip is illustrative of people not maintaining full control of their vehicle, and full awareness of what’s going on around them. That rider had heaps of time to see the problem coming, and to be slowing down hard and avoiding the roll of foam.

the last clip: the driver survived. he admitted that he wasn’t familiar with the road and should’ve been paying more attention. he landed right side up after a drainage pipe stopped his fall. i’m not sure how far the fall was or what injuries he sustained (if any) but nobody else was involved & no charges were filed. he was on the angeles crest highway in socal

Thank you so much. My other concern was the a clip or before it where the woman grabbed the wheel. My guess is the driver had a heart attack or seizure. Passenger didn't understand what happened but realized they needed to do too save themselves, but I'm not sure they did after hitting the pole

@@Malachishouse It wasn't a woman, it was a guy with long hair. No heart attack nor seizure. They were being towed by another car and the atomatic wheel-lock kicked in when they turned the corner because they had removed the ignition key or they had it in the off position.

They were towed. But obviously forgot to put the key in, thus locking the steering wheel as soon as they took a turn
@@SpeedRebirth I think the car's left wheel was in a deeper part of the ditch now allowing the wheel to turn. If the car was being towed I doubt there would be two guys in there.
I rather go with "car was towed and the key was not inserted theory" as 1) The car in front of them had its hazard lights on right from the start of the vid 2) all the visible instruments on the Dashboard were in off position
I've seen a lot of crazy things in my life so not much catches me by suprise.

Well, it kind of is, because they should have been going more slowly. They were coming out of a tunnel, blinded by sunlight, on a mountain. They didn't leave themselves maneuvering room.

The gas pressure one at 2:28 was interesting and the two relief valves at the side of the road popping as well - I wonder why it happened so quickly and with all 3 exit points for the gas bursting at the same time.
Didn't know what it was for, but I knew something was down there. At least there wasn't a car on top of it.
@@kurtislawler I think they are supposed to be gas relief valves like in land fill sited and sewage works - Whatever it was It was amazingly fast and as you say at least there was not a car on top.

That one of the garbage flying out of the back of the pickup reminded me of a time my dad hit a wet cardboard box in the rain. Turned out it was a surprisingly box-shaped block of sandstone. Loud bang as each axle went over it, but luckily no damage.
