[WORLD OF KAISERREICH: ITALY]
The World of Kaiserreich is an animated video series explaining the lore of the Hearts of Iron mod Kaiserreich. In the alt-history timeline of Kaiserreich, a German victory in WW1 changes the world as we know it.
In this episode, Kaiserreich artist Hussard and voice actor Gian give us a closer look at the beleaguered states of Italy. A crushing defeat in the Weltkrieg proved too much for the young republic to handle. After a short but brutal civil war, Italy has shattered into an Austrian puppet monarchy, a pro-Internationale North and a conservative, anti-Syndicalist South. All along the boot of Europe, ideological factions face off in a tense stalemate - awaiting the Second Weltkrieg to come.
However, even in the midst of this turmoil, love can still endure. A young, rash lieutenant sneaks across the border at night to steal time with his childhood sweetheart...

I feel like you captured the essence of what being Italian really is. Deep internal divisions overcome and rendered meaningless by the laughter of a loved one under the sun fore a shining sea. Ideologies and causes to fight for are meaningless in the face of booming laughter, helped by a great serving of wine.

How can a mere alternative game world have so many epic, dramatic and beautiful stories like this? Every day I discover more reasons why people like Kaiserreich so much. To the Italians, hugs from Brazil, it's incredible that such a small country has such a huge and beautiful culture, I certainly intend to visit your country at least once one day, although a single trip won't be enough to see everything. 🇧🇷❤️🇮🇹

What i like about this one is its not just about the glory of one cause or the ideas of a greater world. this is about the simple things, comfort of a partner you love, the gentle thrill of sneaking around to have such secret meetings, the joy of a good bottle of wine and beautiful countryside. It tells the historical story yet shows even as nations rise and fall there will always be the land they inhabit and the people too will live, find love, experiance joy and comfort no matter what goes on beyond.
You guys really captured the essence of interwar Italy, and this little love story sounds a lot like a novel written by someone of the likes of Pascoli or Ungaretti. As an Italian this video touched me very close to home, although its describing fictious events. Grazie for the experience :) 🇮🇹

How lovely it is that this couple, these star-crossed lovers might be seperated by civil war, but are still very much in love, viewing these divisions and idealogical differences as a small part of what makes them Italian, and no reason for them to seperate, nevermind kill each other. In contrast to what happened with the story of the French couple.

Italy must be or never be again. The French, Germans, British, and Austrians pulled us apart like they did centuries ago. They skewed our shared culture and brotherhood and perverted it into a dialect of their own. Garibaldi knew this, Mazzini knew this, and we know this. The answer is not between Syndicalism and monarchy but between being Italian or not.
All I must say is this, The French made us give Nice and Savoy the birthplaces of our heroes so that we may claim our right to nationhood.
The Germans see us as pawns in their mad game to maintain control.
The Austrians see us as members of their empire; our fathers once bled to throw off their yoke.
The king led us into a World war over barely Italian land.
Now I'm waiting for Poland :D

It was south in the old version of the mod, but was changed to north years ago, because Syndicalism made more sense in the industrialized north rather than in the rural south.
