- Floods in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul killed at least 83 people while hundreds more remain missing.
Heavy rain has hit the country for the past seven days, with local authorities reporting up to 103 people missing.
Authorities stated on Sunday, nearly 90,000 people were displaced from their homes.
Brazil’s southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul has been hit the hardest, with the rain causing landslides and the destruction of roads and bridges.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva spoke on Sunday about the need to prepare for future natural disasters.
“We need to stop running behind disasters. We need to see in advance what calamities might happen and we need to work,” he said.
I'm from Brazil, and this is something we never seen before here, it is like a nuclear bomb destruction in terms of area of destruction. And the worse is yet to come.

If you analyze previous years consecutively, we had massive rain disasters in Brazil, but these floods in Rio Grande do Sul are historic, there are no precedents. It's an entire state hit by tragedy. We currently have more than 115 people missing, 80 people dead and thousands of people homeless. And to make matters worse, there is still a forecast of more rain and a drop in temperature.
For the magnitude of the tragedy, there were few deaths and missing people. In the 2004 tsunami, the death toll was an incredible 250,000

Instead of doing something to help the people of Rio Grande do Sul, Lula and the Supreme Court wants to sensor the internet to avoid that ordinary people shows the failures of his administration. The vast majority of the people saved so far were actually rescued by ordinary civilians, we got to the point of having more private helicopters than government helicopters saving people, and countless private jet-ski saving people, even considering the huge amount of money that is stolen from Brazilians through huge taxation imposed by the leftist big government policies. One thing needs to be said here, Lula and his administration is doing very little and waited too long to start doing something to help the people of Rio Grande do Sul, the vast majority of people rescued so far were actually saved by civilians, not by the government ent. Most food, remedy and other necessities that arrived there from other states were brought by the private sector and ordinary civilians in general, while the federal government and states governments are making it more difficult for people to help and they're being strongly criticized. Shame on the Brazilian government, but many thanks for ordinary civilians, from poor people who's helping with what they can, to rich businessmen that are doing much more than the government, we got more private helicopters helping people than helicopters of the government that steals lots of money from taxpayers every single day. If we waited for the extremely currupted Brazilian government of Lula and Alexandre de Moraes to do something we would certainly have much more fatalities than we have so far, the number of deaths would at least triple.

Besides, it would have nothing to do with the Iguazu Falls anyway except both the powerplant and the waterfalls are in the same city
