    I think the American/ Australian muscle car cultures fit perfectly together. Its the only other part of the world to really embrace it besides America. So when you guys bring something new and exciting, but still with enough familiarity to get what your conveying, its not surprising you'd get this much praise and attention.

      Mustang Mach 1 was released in 1968 for the 1969 model year. XC Cobra was a last minute decision by Ford Australia to use up the last of the Falcon Hard Top body shells in 1978 before the release of the XD Falcon. Apparently Ford also had a time machine?

      caveman Versace : David Robertson (Wheels magazine interiew with Edsel Ford II in late 1980, before his wife and children left for home in Michigan. )
      : EBII was Ford Australias Assistant Manager under Sir Ian from late 77 to late 1980. Before he left Dearborn for Australia, Edsel B Ford II had been part of the team that had oversean seen the Mach I/ Cobra version Mustang II. All the Cobra XC cars were modelled off what he couldnt do in the USA because of budgets verses Federal Motor Vehicle Safety, Emissions and EPA rules. But just like the V8 King Cobra Mustang II, the Falcon Cobra had no engine modifications ( except the accessory belt) . The difference was a 4.9 Cleveland with over 207 hp, and a 5.8 Cleveland with 216 hp, not 137 hp like the two Cobra Mustangs. Edsel Ford II is a true champion of walking the corporate line with diplomacy. The XB Falcon had zero Edsel Ford II content, but the 1982 Mustang GT 5.0 and Capri RS 5.0 157 to 161 hp tire fryers were his idea. The top brass have always given designers some leeway. The real boost was that the 1972 XA was American, Dearborn design with a huge amount of Rossi, Draper and Jack Talnack hands on design. Before Bill Bourke retired, Lee Ilococa said " You must trust your customers...these cars are very basic without any ornamentation". And although it looks like a 71- 73 Fastang has slept with a 70- 71 Torino, the XA and XBs are high hip lind Falcons with lowered US stlyle Sports Roofs de canted. Everything works together. When design was signed off in late 69, Rossi and Jack T made some great copies of the 70 Torino and 71 Sports Roof, but its unique to the Aussie car. Hood bumper and front quarter cornices might look 71 fatstang, but they are frumpier and less specialty sports coupe, more an integration between a sedan and a Nova style two door. A good example is the 2004 Pontiac GTO...Holden and Ford Two doors have always been a lot more conservative than an F body or Mustang...Thats why they were branded Falcon or Holden. Grey slurry with a little bit of pizzaz added. Thats all that was needed down Under. USA...look at how the Mustang and F body had to be radically remixed each year, with specialty variants required every year. Aussies never had to do that, so the Falcon Hardtop remained pure from 1972 to 1979.

      Its one of the worst howlers around. The VN Group A, a lot more favourable. For Aussies and Kiwis, seeing Win Percy take a VL Group A over Skline at Mount Panorama with 500 hp and 8000 rpm makes up for its Ugly Plastic. No one else in the USA understands a sedan with polycarbonate pannells. It likes like an EcoModder with a tin hat has gone overboard with a Brock Director. James French
      Its fine for actors like Hugh Jackman and all the rest to make it big they deserve it BUT hearing reporters ask an American actor what do you think of Australia when they have only just come through customs is bloody embarrassing. The cringe is not about Aussie actors its the stupid reporters begging validation.

    • @jamesfrench7299
      @jamesfrench7299 Před 6 lety

      rabbitphobia Hugh has that star quality and Hollywood is a natural progression, but all the aspiring actors that plainly don't have it from soaps that aspire to make it in Hollywood are who make me roll my eyes. Maybe not everyone is meant to reach that level. They imply that they aren't a success unless they attain it which is not true. That is what makes A list actors what they are, they had the attributes to make it that the bulk of people don't have.
      Onto the reporters who persistently perpetuate the cultural cringe. I think they are in a bubble where they believe that is what the viewers want them to ask when it isn't so. I'm still waiting for an American celeb to say something disparaging like "look I have just arrived and am being paid to be here, how would I know??"
      The local media would brand him or her the Aussie hating actor and make a beat up over it, so they always say the usual yeah I love your country like a good little obedient school kid.
      You would think we were self assumed by now since our international success with Croc Dundee and all the Aussie actors that have become part of the Hollywood scene representing us, but we still need constant compliments and still lack collective self awareness that we are doing anything wrong. We are better than that.

    fucking horrible - it's been butchered to the shithouse. Huge modern wheels on a 70s car just ruin the lines. And where are the GS driving lights? An XA or XB GT Hardtop in pristine condition that has been lowered just one inch and has tyres to fill the guards that are on 15 (or 16" max) period rims looks far better than this sorry example of a butcher job.
