Today we set about giving something back and heading out on a river clean-up mission... We knew we would encounter some weird and wonderful things, and the river certainly revealed some interesting things!

If you have a truck, even a small one. You could pile all that metal into your vehicle & when done for the day. Drop it off to the metal recyclers & get your gas money back for the day for your efforts. LOVE< LOVE LOVE that you did this , this day. Ty for taking us along
Good idea, although the people working at the recycling depot may run away from the smell! We'll return in the summer, sadly I think the vapes will be replaced...Great to find the ww2 gas mask. Take care 😀👍
My recycle center here in Idaho, U.S.A pays pretty good for aluminum extrusion, like bicycles, wheels, and scooters, pay great for brass and bronze, and pay alright for batteries, but battery weight adds up quick so its worth it. Love the clean up effort, the sea appreciates you.
This is dirty and corroded mixed metal , the lowest of the low scrap price maybe £150 per tonne.
This has been a wheel-y good time. Looking forward to more adventures. Thanks for doing your bit to clean the waterways.

The fact that you two legends are doing such a service to help the environment by cleaning up the rubbish from the lazy twats who littered by throwing those bits into the river is champion calibre. Seeing Josie wearing an earring whilst cleaning up the rubbish is pure class, well done!

👍👌👏 Very well done, guys! How nice of you doing this. It was great to watch too and I hope that you will do it again. What I learned while watching magnet fishing videos is: They pile up the metal at land and tell the officials where the pile is. Or they take the metal to a scrapyard and get even paid. Or they tell a scrap metal collector where the pile is. Please kindly allow me to suggest that you do similar because it makes cleaning the river bed a bit easier. You could easily pile up even the shop carts and bicycle frames then. Much less to put in bags respectively to carry home. By the way: I would have definitely brought the big lamp thingi home. 😁 ;-)

It is amazing how much rubbish gets left in our rivers, but thanks for people like yourselves who take the time to clear the rubbish it helps the environment and wildlife. Love the WW2 mask that was great, have a good week

This was a great guys. The hubs and I do garbage pick up all summer long on our beach visits. We were stopped one day coming back in off the islands. The fishery inspectors wanted to check our boat for any fish. I said no we just gather garbage. He said, oh beachcombers....I said not even, just picking up trash so the wildlife doesn't have to live with people's crap. Every bit removed makes a difference. Thank you guys for making an effort.

Gosh, the family story I could tell you about gas masks in WWII. My Father was part of the Chemical Warfare training, and I have a story he wrote about his training method for US soldiers. Mustard Gas was a very real fear for England's citizens, and soldiers of all Country's soldiers involved. Glad you two are back! Have an amazing week!!!

Well,except I will only take plastic and batteries,no large metal items,but I’ll take a handful of bin liners and give back to the River Thames,who has been such a kind host to me.
If everyone did this once in a while,maybe the scene from spirited away ,the bath house scene would happen,where the slimy stink and old bicycles and rubbish purge out,and the happy spirit of the river bursts out of the clean water,laughing with joy!
Also,I need to prank my mom.
When you throw something,and there is the explosion(my favorite),I will play this video,and tell her to pay close attention around the time the bike tire is tossed.
She will think that my name is about to be mentioned.

Great job doing your part to clean up what you could....I've seen other groups in the UK do river cleanups on the other mudlark's channels if you had more people you could clear one section at a time....hopefully this video inspires more people to do their part to clean up in their area or to just not toss stuff where it doesn't belong ....thanks for sharing your time with us ...Karl from eastern Canada

Lovely to see a bit of ying and yang - bit of mother natures triggers of the circle of more perhaps - feels as if more repays those who do more and yet keeps us all in the pool of real life together - inspiring as well as supporting each other - deep but so is that mud !
As a middle aged child - i lived right close to the river blackwater - we could see Bradwell Power Station - i used to walk bare foot around St Lawrence Bay but got cut up alot - i should have been searching then - but i was too busy collecting hagstones without even konwing what they were - to wear as protection - but the walks from Stone up to Mayland and the Island around there was not only muddy it was terrifying - alot of history there thats hidden in that mud - i already know without looking ...............

Totally, we've been meaning to do this for a while but life stuff kept getting in the way. We found a lot of industrial fishing netting that was impossible to move. Maybe we'll return with a knife in the summer to do this. Thanks as always 😊👍

Awesome job you and your dad done picking up the trash of other people. People should respect the lands and the waters of our world. I bet whoever is doing it, doesn't want people to do it where they live at. Everybody needs to pick up there trash. Great pickings ,our beach litter more fishing nets ,rubber gloves always single shoes and plastic bottles .Bonus is coal from a WW2 wreck when wind and tides right.

That gas mask was the bell of the ball! I would assume you removed the broken lens or it fell out during the clean up. I thought that was the best part. I loved that you did some early spring cleaning. The world appreciates it.

6:35 looks like a shock absorber from a heavy duty or commercial truck.
12:52 - my oldest son recently got his first job as a cart clerk at a grocery store. I told him I found a cart out of place and showed him this... he growled. lol.
15:50 - I saw the hull number and started searching. Wish you had gotten a better shot of the bow, but it looks like it might be a Fairmile B-class motor launch. There was one such boat with that hull number. Records I found don't indicate what configuration it was built in, but supposedly most of the class were equipped as sub chasers. If that's what this is, the pilot house has either been substantially altered or replaced. The general hull form looks correct, nonetheless.

My dad was a builder and came home with one of those masks when I was small but he would'nt let me keep it. He had found it in a loft.

6:38 looks like a car shock absorber. 7:48 hope there not a body in the barrel lol. they found some in the lake mead reservoir. i guess they suspect mob activity since they were active near there in the 60s/70s.

❤Josie you are the spitting image of the love of my life years ago...sadly she got into drugs and lost herself....even abandoning her kids...I have stayed in contact with them tho they are not mine and am happy and proud to have them in my life and see them regularly as I cook for them weekly...sadly their mother is lost and not in contact with any of us...ANYWAYS...forgive the sad story....I just see her old self in your smile and I know it will be a very lucky person who gets to see your pretty face on a daily basis.
